How hard is it to transition from painting Warhammer to painting Kaiju? For personal collection, not to sell...
Yeah, I was looking at Vinyl Wonder paint, if I did decide to go forward with this. I’ll probably get cold feet again…but I’m still thinkin’ about it.
You might be surprised how approachable it is to use! It's so nice to be able to put the ready-spray right in your airbrush and just go. As long as you're familiar with other solvent-based paints, clean up will be somewhat familiar (special thinner, fumes, gloves, proper ventilation and respiratory protection).
I think the part that was the scariest is aiming to preserve the base vinyl a bit to keep that sofubi soul. Meaning, you likely won't want to just keep layering paint to cover up mistake. Luckily, one possible comfort is (as long as your paint didn't stain a more light colored vinyl) you can strip it real fast and start over.
After grumpily deciding that the FFVI opera scene was annoying, I now find myself humming it while I work. Oddly comforting.
Oh man, VI (III) was the first Final Fantasy I fell in love with back in the early ‘90s. That opera tune still resonates with me after all these years.
Finally goin’ to be makin’/releasin’ prints again in visual collaboration with Paul Kaiju. Locally printed. Entirely stoked.
I was so pissed. They had one that was only good for "Toys, Hobbies & Goods > Toys" but so many vinyls are listed under random sub categories like "Toys, Hobbies & Goods > Anime Figures or some other slight variation. CMON.
New 20% coupon that's available for the "Anime Figure" subcategory seems to be working on a lot of sofubi!
Wife and I bought a townhouse. Excited to pack up and move my plastic hoard for the last time (foreseeable future).

Been thinking about sofubi price inflation this year. Things that I coulda snagged ten years ago for $60 now going for #120 but...
Seeing some of the pricing on these lottos has me wow'd. Like my entire DCON budget for one figure? Kudos to those that have the cash but damn.
Ugh I know what you mean. I’ve seen a few toys that were around $70 years ago now go for $150. Makes me kick myself for thinking prices would go down due to lack of hype.
