Hey guys, the Snyder cut exists. No really this time! They have finally admitted they lied to us all along. Finally all our efforts have paid off with... Justice.

    Only it doesn't.

Direct quote, according to WarnerMedia chairman Bob Greenblatt,
So just to be clear, there is not some brilliant masterpiece of cinematic experience, stashed away and hidden in a vault somewhere, denied to the public because we simply could not handle its truth and awesomeness. They/WB are caving to fanbois idiotic demands [because really, when has the public ever voted called out for a thing that wasn't in the general best interest?], with hopes to, still, somehow, chase that comic franchise money. They are trying to build a [new] movie out of his skeleton of unfinished bits, and somehow think we will just what, forget what we already saw? I can't believe this is where we are now.

Oh, and removing Darkseid's armor, and changing his iconic helmet, no, this doesn't at all remind me of anything else..... But this is Snyder we are talking about. Nothing comes the least bit surprising. Please, allow the trainwreck to continue and consume ever more hundreds of millions.

Oh well, the silver lining here is that hopefully all this effects work - and there will be A LOT of it needed - is going to mean jobs for the industry.

So I have Hulu, and I have the new HBO Max, and I have Amazon Prime, but why can't I find Swamp Thing on any of them?

@Roger - Because it was exclusive to DC Universe!

Yeah but HBO Max supposedly has access to everything in the Warner Brothers library. There is a DC Universe Hub section of the app that includes Doom Patrol.

And Hulu should have the CW shows, as far as I know. Swamp Thing was just moved over to that network.

Gimme Swamp Thing! It's the only DC character I care about! I don't want to see a Man-Thing! I want Swamp Thing!

I feel ya @Roger . As I alluded to in my discussion with the Attack on Titans debacle, the entire streaming market right now is royally effed, with so many of these studios and broadcasters working to get their own - completely separate - service up and running. It is a model which is completely and utterly unsustainable. I say this only half-joking, but this is really like the 'boom' of the telecom/cell phone provider area (that scene from Portlandia?). This really comes down especially - and directly as a result of - with HBO into the weird telecom/media megacorps that have sprung up over the last several years in the US. This is exactly what you get from commercial mergers starting to govern so many different aspects of businesses, which historically were never related. Just wait until they get a stake in food consumption business. Like privatised prisons, this is one of those very scary aspects of the free-market economy that should be viewed from a keen skeptical eye before being permitted. But, politics aside, looking at the case at hand, as someone pointed out in a comment recently:
Basically, HBO streaming is broke. [And I would suggest Amazon is seriously verging on it too from recent experience]. Their roll out of the new HBO Max platform makes little sense, and even they cannot seem to explain it. They even had to put out a video to try and clear things up; unsusccessfully. You can read this article, but alas I wish I could say there was an answer. From my understanding of it, it wholly depends on how you access your HBO service (which of course is bollocks). So that could be why you are not seeing some of the content?

Further, for yourself and other DC fans, there seems to be a really poor transition to this new service, and it is unclear whether the shows on DC Universe - a separate service again, which makes no sense (see my rant) - will be carried over or left on their own. Here is a rundown of what seems to be offered for DC (and the pathetic anime content) on HBO Max, though it does seem Swamp Thing is there, so I am not sure. :? This all just really smack of poor corporate chasing of streaming technology, with no understanding (or maybe just caring) of how people actually want to consume content. As I said, I could foresee this leaving a lot high and dry; which is maybe for the best. Until this happens though, the consumers are going to have to wade through a rough landscape with a lot of cacti in the way, before we can find any place to enjoy I think.

Well that is just objectively wrong. :dam:

Two major reveals today for me. Firstly, the new Suicide Squad trailer, which is basically a character reveal, but everyone looks amazing. I’m overjoyed by the cast of characters, at the very least, making an appearance. King Shark finally coming in, and no return of Killer Croc, is something I’m super happy about. Polka Dot Man, Peace Maker, Bloodsport, Ratcatcher, Sol Soria, and of course Harley(loving the new Arkham City look).

And the MAJOR reveal for me today was THE BATMAN with Robert Pattinson as a “year two” Bruce/Batman. I was skeptical of Pattinson, but open. This trailer has MORE than won me over. Good Lordt.
HUSH right at the opening of the trailer! WHAT THE FRICK!!!

You need to spend a few hours and watch the Lighthouse. You won't doubt Pattinson. Watched it during covid and it's probably right up your alley. Dark.

Both trailers look great. The Batman had a Seven vibe but I'm convinced it'll be good. The director has a pretty good track record.

@bryce_r Lighthouse is actually the first and majority only thing I’ve seen Pattinson in, and he was great! Only recently did I see him as Cedric Diggery, but that’s a short lived role. I initially didn’t know he was cast to play a younger Bruce, which was where my initial speculation came in. But this trailer gives an incredible vibe.
And I was shown that apparently it’s Riddler in the trailer, though literally all of it visually points to being Hush. Not sure what they’re going for in that particular arena.

Yeah that's Riddler aka Paul Dano's voice. 2020 has been the worst year EVER but I didn't think we'd get a trailer...NEVER thought a Nirvana song would work for Batman....and am now looking forward to 2021. This trailer has probably been the highlight of the year.

Just hoping California doesn't burn down with fires.

@bryce_r Ugh. I was so hoping that was Thomas Elliot. Everything about his aesthetic in the trailer pointed to it. Kinda perplexed why they chose an existing look for a revamped Riddler. I’m excited, regardless, but I had settled on my initial notion!

Thought the first was great and had high-hopes for 1984, but any movie that relies so heavily on a 'Be nice to each other' plot line is already on the back-foot for me. Throw in the face/body-swap love interest, 'iffy' CGI and cliché plain-Jane to slutty-Sue transformation . . . and it's a done deal.

Not even a Wonder Woman wardrobe malfunction was gonna save it!

Finished The Punisher season two yesterday - binged watched both series and was sad to see the end, worse still to find out that they won't be taking it further. As someone who purchased the limited edition series when it first came out 1986, I was impressed with the approach to turning it into a viable series. Jon Bernthal was excellent as the anti hero and the balance between violence, action and story well judged.

I haven't watched Daredevil yet but understand from this thread that The Punisher drops in, so I'll have to fire that up next.

The punisher was really well done. Kingpin was great. Daredevil was pretty decent although I didn't really like the main actor.
Waiting for Wandavision to end so I can stream it.

I've been enjoying the week wait to find out what happens next. Waiting until they're all out to have a look makes sense to me, too, but I'd highly recommend that you keep it to one a day rather than a straight binge.

I know what you mean; I am not sold on him either. However, the actor playing Fink is excellent and his right hand man is the ideal weasel. It is watchable but I am really holding out for The Punisher cameo. I’m watching it whilst on the treadmill, so it is easy watching and passes the time.

I’m overly obsessed with Wandavision. I was a bit put off by the beginning but it being Marvel, I stuck with it...so glad I did because it’s fantastic. I’m enjoying it week by week as well, more time for the last episode to soak into my brain and fill it with all sorts of conspiracies of what’s going on.

With that very first episode, I had such strong nostalgia because the set was almost exactly the same as the living room from the old Dick Van Dyke show, and I watched that show a lot in syndication when I was a little kid. Same with the second ep which resembled Bewitched. I had to wonder if it would work as well for folks younger than Gen X, or anyone from outside the US. Until they get into the point where they are also telling the story outside the sitcom format, I can definitely see that it would not hook everyone right away.
