Ok, I did something with a common utility that grabbed exactly what I wanted: 14,568 images, totalling 565.3 MB.
On my Linux machine, I opened a terminal and ran:

    Code:
    wget -r http://clubtokyo.org/
You should be able do to this in a macOS terminal, too. If it doesn't recognize the command, you will have to install it using this command:

    Code:
    brew install wget

So good. I am massively happy to throw whatever support I can towards Mike and Richard. Even setting aside the wonderful renewing of CT, for what they've given me (and this hobby) as resource, inspiration, and just enjoyment since I have come into this silly obsession, the scales are still not balanced. As a labour of love, and massively useful catalogue, there is no way I could count how many visits I made to the old CT. They're probably not reading this, but just in case, Thank You again, sirs. Proud to me a member of your new site, and let's all throw action behind out words as a community to show our appreciation and desire for CT to continue.

Done and done! Thank you! ❤
I'm definitely excited for this! I'm really hoping they'll expand the database to other sofubi toy makers as well like Elegab, Monstock, Max Toy, etc.

Interesting thought. To be honest, I suspect - for sheer scope of the work, if nothing else - they'll probably stick to much of the 'classic kaiju' that CT tended to deal with (e.g. linked to licensed Toho and Tsuburaya characters), and even then it might take more of a vintage spin (knowing their personal passions), but let's see.

I think I remember seeing Mike J. post sample images from the pending site a while back, and Max Toy was represented. Albeit as @ultrakaiju said, licensed stuff.

For sure, I definitely see your point. If one trails away from classic kaiju, then those numbers get crazy! They would probably have to hire people round the clock to get a job like that done and to keep up with it.

Then it would be nice to see classic licensed kaiju that is being represented by other companies like Anraku Ansaku for the recent Godzillas, Max Toy Co for his Ultraman line. @old_seaweed mentioned that MaxToy is probably going to be represented for the licensed figures, so hopefully that means that other companies who have official licensed figures will also be represented.

That being said, regardless if they go that route or not, they're still going to have a ton of much appreciated info, so I'm still very excited about this whole thing! ❤

This dude’s page is phenomenal. It’s insane to see how much variety he has per figure, and how he manages to fit them all into single shots. So impressive and awesome.

I (Richard) am around, and have been for years, I'm just a lurker. I'll try to hit on a few points or questions people seem to have. We (primarily Mike) have been working rebuilding the site from scratch since we let it go down. Thus far we have 4200+ entries, 9800+ variations, 650+ characters, 90+ manufacturers, and 65+ shows, film genres, and other character sources. Gigabytes of images.

Club Tokyo will NOT be subscription-only as a whole... but certain parts of it might be.

We're far enough along the rebuild that "Founder" level Patreon backers got an hour-long walkthrough of a beta version of the site last week via Zoom. We now have it on a server, but only viewable by myself and Mike as we polish it up.

I'll try to respond to any questions here, but honestly the best way to ask questions and get a response is to back CT via the Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/clubtokyotoys. You can ask questions there and I get an email every time a question is asked. And I try to respond daily to messages.

So on to a couple of questions:

That's why there's a Patreon. The amount of community support will dictate how much time we spend on the site. It's the only way we can really gauge the value of the work (and pay for the server resources).

We are only doing licensed figures, and right now only toys that exist in my or Mike's collection. We have to rein it in somehow, and that's how for now. There are definitely newer manufacturers, and licensed releases by Anraku and Max Toy are well represented. See image. :)

Yes, Mike's Instagram is amazing. Most of those photos are for the new CT web site.

    Thanks!

Hmm I guess I'm not a "founder", just a mere "astronaut". I don't get why, if both tiers are the same price, one is more privileged. Was it a time thing? As in the sooner you join the more you get?

Yes, I think they had a limited number of "early adopter" spots to encourage people to join the Patreon. My guess is that they will revise things after the site launches and they see how much support they can actually bring in.

Regardless, I’m stoked for the return of CT. Excited to look through all those photos, they’re fuel for my love for these toys.
