If I’m running tight on space when it comes to a focus—i just make more, haha

but i prune to keep things sane on everything else. Years ago i actually had to keep stuff in a closet...it was time to ask myself some hard questions and make cuts. Keep it fun, keep it out, or cut it out.

but it would’ve been great to have never had to sell anything. I’ve had so many cool sofubi and toys over the years.

Inspired by the Hindu temples that he saw on a trip to Madras/Chennai in India, artist Jarvis Rockwell created an enormous 11′ tall stepped pyramid at MASS MoCA and lined it with thousands of action figures.

I don't think it's right to sell your baby.

Slight segue but has anyone had an issues storing toys in bubble wrap for extended periods of time? (for instance toys getting sticky or paint flaking)

I have more bubble wrap than spare t-shirts  but I take your point and that would be ideal.

I've bought a couple of rubbermaid boxes that will fit under a bed; the plan is to put pieces in there until I can decide what to do with cases; however, I have no obvious solution, so they might be in there for awhile (and also have to suffer a move), hence wanting to do it right.

I haven’t personally stored much in bubble wrap, but I’d imagine it’s no different than storing a toy in its original poly bag.

I would have assumed as much had I not read other comments about vapours leaching from other plastic, etc, surfaces onto vinyl toys.

I’m probably overthinking it but wanted to ask rather than unpack a load of soft goopy toys in 24 months :D

@Mr Fox Currently preparing my collection for a period of storage I take my cue from Grace and her +8 year-long storage experience, as presented in the "Tips for Preserving Your Toys" thread:
If you haven't read it already I highly recommend aforementioned thread/post for an in depth explanation of the thinking behind her successful storage regime. Why risk it? Just use paper towels.

    Edit:
Addendum: On another note - whatever you do - don't use printed newspaper directly onto any vinyl.

100% would NEVER do this. As a child who used to play with Silly Putty, and transfer cartoon newsprint to it, I know all too well how transferable newsprint is.

Mr. Humphreys thread was one of the ones that made me question bubble wrap but I couldn't remember exactly where I'd read it; so thank you for the refresh. I also recall another thread, perhaps not on here, that also spoke of issues caused by toxic chemicals from paper, including paper towel, that went on to detail buying 'acid free' paper. I guess it all boils down to how far you want to go and how worried you actually are.

i wouldnt be concerned unless you knew they were going to be stored for a very extended period of time. Tee shirts are my go to for moving purposes, two birds one stone.

It depends on the bubble wrap. I've had some bubble wrap that stuck to toys as they were being mailed to me (could be that heat or humidity was a contributing factor). Other bubble wrap seems fine even years later.

Bottom line is that I normally try to not to let toys sit directly on bubble wrap, as I think the quality can vary greatly and it's hard to tell from a cursory inspection.

Wax paper? Random thought. Never tried it but I might. At least half my collection has been in storage for a few years now (climate controlled space), but I do check on it. Most of it is in random toy bags I’ve kept, as well as plastic grocery ones. No issues mostly, save for a pesky Marmit Hedorah that keeps sweating no matter what container I put it in. Brought it home so it could breathe.
