Over the holidays, I plan on breaking out the PS3 and replaying Dead Space 2. It’s nearly a decade old, but it is still one of my top 5 games ever.
After a 3-4 months break from playing, I tried again Doom 2016 and had a blast. It’s super fun and exciting, monsters are awesome. Glad I gave it a second try despite it being so loud and over the top. Considering trying Eternal now...
I ended up finishing all side quests on cyberpunk. It is a very nice game, even if ambitious. They should've just waited more. hahaha. I Love Doom 2016, Its just action the whole time. Eternal looks great too. I was on a souls-like binge before cyberpunk so now I started nioh and im about 80hrs in. I feel with these games its one fancy feast of ghost & goblins frustrations. Quite fun.
I ve not tried cyberpunk again since launch day . Might give it a second shot after Eternal. Soul games are too hard for me. I don’t know what that is about, probably bad reflexes... or lack of patience. They look awesome though.
Returnal, anyone? I don't think I've ever had such mixed feelings about a game. It has to be the most frustrating thing I've played in years, but when you find the rhythm it's mesmerising.
So, this old man (points to self) recently tried an Oculus for the first time and... holy shit. Amazing. Now all I really, really wanna know is... who in the industry can we petition to get a license to do an Ultraman '66 game, where you can fight either as Ultraman or kaiju... and who will not fuck it up aesthetically, but honor Tohl Narita's creature designs in every aspect possible while realizing them in VR form; hew close to the look and feel of the original show, representing its charm in an appealing, detailed way that will interest non-initiates, but won't feel overly embellished/updated/enslickened; and well-capture the look and feel of giant-size fighting on very earthly terrain? (I know... I'm not asking for much...) I put this question to a programmer friend of mine who is super-into VR, and he replied that Schell Games would already seem to have an apt engine for such a game, evidenced by their title Until You Fall...
No Man's Sky. I don't really play how you are probably supposed to play but flying through space and finding random peaceful planets where there is no pandemic and you can just enjoy the weather and scenery and sit in the grass and feed random creatures is all kinds of relaxing after a long day in the real world.
I’ve considered “no mans sky” for the last few years. Is it as cool as it seems? Can you travel to planets where you can see others creations? one day it’ll pop up on sale at the PlayStation store, and then I’ll grab it. I also was taken completely by surprise that there is a sequel to Axiom Verge. Looking forward to that one too.
It is pretty amazing. I remember years ago how everyone said it did not deliver on what it promised and was a huge disappointment but apparently the developers have spent literal years releasing free updates with new content and now it's considered one of the best space games ever made. I only tried it out a few months ago because it's free on xbox game pass and even in that short time I've seen a couple of major free additions to the game. There is a 5 year anniversary update coming soon people seem really excited about. Yes you can go to other people's planets and play with their bases and creations. They also added a space station thing which you can summon instantly anywhere in the game and you fly into it and can interact with other real people. Do random daily missions together like hunting pirates or saving stranded space people or collecting materials and you earn rewards together. So there is a cool multiplayer aspect if you like that kind of thing but it isn't required at all. It even works cross platform so people on different video game systems or computers can still play together. My absolute favorite part of the game is that the literally countless planets have really different and weird creatures and monsters. Anything from sentient balls of light to flying blowfish that spray ink everywhere to giant dinosaurs and they added an update that lets you befriend the creatures and make them pets you can take with you everywhere you go. You can even ride some of them!
Yep, NMS is pretty great. I found myself regularly needing to stop and take screenshots, the kind of vistas, flora and fauna it throws at you are so surprising and spectacular sometimes. On the other hand there are plenty of worlds inhabited by freaky giant shapes with teeth. Best to scope out a planet thoroughly before settling down to build a base. My biggest problem with it is the floaty movement and shooting controls, which haven't improved since launch. I'd probably never stop playing the game if it felt great to just move around. The game also has some underlying issues—lack of engaging structured quests, and an underlying tension between this giant explorable universe and base-building—that will probably never get resolved. But there's nothing like getting in your ship and jetting up from the surface of a planet into space. These days I'm getting into a bunch of weird, punishing games. Finally playing Dark Souls, a 2d Souls-like called Grime, RimWorld (not sexual, I promise) and Neo Scavenger. All worth your time, if a bit disrespectful of it.
I wish my PC could handle The Ascent properly; it looks great. I've been playing Deathloop nonstop for the last couple of days and I think it'll end up being my favourite of the year. Absolute must-play if you have a PS5 and enjoy shooters or stealth games.
I just finished miles morales spider-man a few days ago on ps5, I might go an revisit the original spider-man while the controls and skill set are still fresh in my brain. I bought it used, so I didn’t get the remastered version code, but I gave the disc version for ps4. After that it might be deathloop. The ps5 was a surprise from my amazing wife so I don’t know what’s good. Lol.
Been going balls deep into cruelty squad. God I love that game so much. If you got steam and a gaming PC I highly recommend it. The aesthetic choice of the game is really odd and off putting at first but it's a REALLY good game, I promise you.
Just got a PS5... that sure took a minute. Starting with Demon's Souls. It's my first Soul game, it looks fantastic and is hard as hell. Not sure whether I'll let the game beat me or manage to beat the game. I will snag Miles Morales soon, I imagine it will be a good way to relax after being crushed by Demon's Souls.
Anyone picking up Marvel's Avengers on Game Pass? I've been avoiding this game since it came out, but now that it's on Game Pass, I might grab it.
I bought this unofficial multi game cart mainly so I could play Links Awakening DX on my DS Lite, but it all appears to be working and saving correctly. Not bad for £16. I played the original game boy version of Awakening back in the day, so playing it again after such a long time, but in colour, is a real treat. I'm also looking forward to playing the two game boy colour Oracle games!
The two oracle games were good, I think those were the last game boy games I ever purchased! Ah memories.
