I saw that story in the news. Amazing! I really wanted to hear more about the guy who had collected all those toys. All the coverage just focused on the people selling, or the auction house. If he'd sold his collection he could have had an amazing retirement. As I'm really enjoying The Mandalorian, I guess I'm no longer sick of Star Wars? I best stop posting here...
Mandalorian s02e03 Have to say, i found Starbuck's team jumping around like mighty morphin power rangers a bit odd. Its still a fun show but i dont think im digging it as much as the first season.
I really liked that episode. I enjoyed the treachery of the Squidheads/Quarren. There's a shot where the Mandolorians first get on board the imperial vessel and start to walk down the corridor and the whole thing looked like a Destinies Child video for a split second. That was the only bit I found contentious.
I’m not really familiar with Bill Burr’s material/schtick but people seem to love him... seems like he's just a cross between Louis CK and Joe Rogan. But The only Joe Rogan I found funny was during his ‘News Radio’ days. He’s like a flat earther conspiracy wacko now right? Anyways, back to Bill Burr- he was ok in Mandalorian, but I heard him go off on my hometown once, so he can go fuck himself.
Fair enough, but he shits on most places he visits - thats his job. Its slightly surreal being a long time Burr fan and now seeing him acting in the Star Wars universe! As for Joe Rogan, he's not as bad as he used to be with the conspiracies, but yeah, he can be a bit OTT. He's more of a health and mental optimization obsessive nowadays.
yeah, but I’m from Philadelphia. And as much as I hate drunken Philadelphians and the reputation the city has, you have to be prepared for the reception you may receive if you choose to perform there. and you don’t shit talk our sports teams... even though we do it ourselves regularly. I don’t hate the guy, like I said I don’t know his material (I’m more of a Tina Fey/Conan O’Brien/Upright Citizens Brigade style of comedy fan) but you don’t come to my hometown and shit talk it for the duration of your act.
Hi Sick of Star Warsers! Does anyone here have a recommendation for a top-notch SW figure head repainter, located in the U.S.? I am in the market to commission someone, but so far the best-looking work I have found on IG is by painters located in Taiwan or HK. If I can, I would love to find someone stateside, to keep costs down. Lmk whatcha know! Thanks!
These upcoming Jumbo figures from Gentle Giant are pretty nifty: https://www.gentlegiantltd.com/star-wars-darth-vader-concept-jumbo-figure/ https://www.gentlegiantltd.com/star-wars-the-mandalorian-the-mandalorian-beskar-jumbo-figure/
Disney+ just announced some SW anime things coming up. Looks fun, too bad it’s only on their platform and I’m not paying so There’s that. some of it looks really fun. I’m sick of star wars and I’m sick of anime but two negatives make a positive in this case.
Im glad it looks interesting to you. I’m on the flip side: I’m a huge Star Wars fan, and not much of an anime fan these days (my heyday was anime from the late 80s-mid90s) and the anime Star Wars looks so uninteresting to me. It just looks like any generic anime just with light sabers. Eh.
Yup totally with you. Generic anime with lightsabers can be a lot of fun especially with the Disney coffers funding it. I hope it’s something like the matrix anime that came out way back when. i probably will get around to it when it’s easy to rip off the web, I don’t even find time to watch Starcraft leagues on yt these days.
If they don't provide an option to watch the series in Japanese with English subtitles, I probably won't watch it. I generally don't like dubs. Besides, we all know the light saber was totally ripped off from:
Just watched the first episode ‘Duel’. Totally didn’t expect something so creative and unique. There’s also a behind the scenes short for every episode. Definitely give the first one a watch. 5 stars
I've watched up to ep. 5, and I have been really enjoying Visions. Some are better than others, but most feel like they could be developed into a mini series, in the way of The Mandalorian. It's a lot of fun to see the Star Wars world with anime influences.
As long as they keep making these retro figures, I will never be sick of Star Wars. https://news.toyark.com/2021/10/13/...mandalorian-assortment-pre-orders-live-446649
They're doing another concept one: https://www.gentlegiantltd.com/star-wars-luke-skywalker-concept-jumbo-figure/ I like the idea of these, I just wish they were 3 3/4" scale. If they do that McQuarrie Stormtrooper, though, I may cave.
Digging that concept Luke! I just got a dozen of the Gentle Giant Jumbos from an old SBer. I think I officially have a jumbo collection now.
If you're into the Jumbo figures, see if you can track down one of the Crazy Toys 12" Stormtroopers. This is a totally unlicensed product that blows away the Gentle Giant version. It's constructed exactly like the original toys: solid vinyl limbs and a styrene body with a glossy surface, as opposed to the Gentle Giant one which is hollow vinyl throughout with a matte surface: https://forum.rebelscum.com/threads...-jumbo-12-stormtrooper-by-crazy-toys.1100309/ http://thegeeksummit.blogspot.com/2013/04/star-wars-new-vintage-stormtrooper.html I also commissioned a resin bootleg of the Gentle Giant jumbo Snowtrooper from Dollar Slice Bootlegs a while back: View this post on Instagram
