    Hello,

I have this idea since a couple of weeks, end of the year approaching and such, that it might be cool to have a thread where we would show our favorite toy and write why it is so.
I am imagining I m not in a minority here that would struggle with that kind of category, yet I think it could be fun.
I am thinking of it as a thread that would be the counterbalance to our infamous fugly thread. The fugly thread is indeed the only one I am aware of where we all discuss our sense of aesthetic, what we like and dislike and why, including all producers/sculptors/customizers.
Here, I would love to see us taking the time to look at our collection and take the time to choose one and then try to put in words why that one in particular stands out.
Sub-categories are off course welcome (favorite toy of the year, favorite grody toy, favorite sculpt, favorite-toy-I-do-not-own maybe, whatevyou). Try and make it a broad enough category for the choice to be difficult but not impossible for you to make.
It would be my personal preference that we keep it to the positive here. If someone find someone else's favorite fugly, feel free to post it in the appropriate thread.
I am personally as interested in the toys you guys would select as the why that one, the story. I hope some of you will find this interesting enough to play with me.

Go look at your collection, then sit in your most comfortable chair by the fire, and tell us about that one toy!

This guy right here by Zollmen is my favorite. He's small yet packs in so much organic detail, his little folds and scrunched up dumpling looking head are just really fun to look at!
He scratches that itch when it comes to looking super alien for me and also his little mitten hands and stereotypical little gun or blaster really appeals to me.

This is my favorite toy. It's a mixed part Kougai painted by Rich aka MVH (maybe someone doesn't know?).
This custom was named Satan King.
I got it 8 years ago when I started collecting.I think it actually is my first sofubi.
It was sitting on the sale thread here, the picture by the previous owner was pretty dark and we couldn't see much of the paint work, I think that is the main reason why none of you guys jumped on it back then (heard so from several of you later on).
I love that sculpt and it has great presence by itself (I dont display it with other toys). The fact that it is my first sofubi, my first (and only) Bemon, first toy painted by Rich who's Ollie where the first sofubi that got me interested in the hobby and that I took the risk of getting it despite the poor picture, trusting Rich not to do a poor paint job on his favorite toy, makes it very special to me.

Thanks for starting us off @Urk !

I love that little grumpy face! He packs so much personality in such a small platform. The body is also really clear to read and looks layered. Is the body one piece or two?

    No problem! Haha.

It's two parts! The head and body, it's jointed at the neck. The sculpt is layered it's super nice, I enjoy the seperation between his "skin" and then the weird mantle/chest piece that is smooth. A nice contrast to his wrinkles and folds!

Hard to pick a favourite but I’ll go with this blue mini Godesu by Spectrum Lab. I love everything about this toy and I went with the blue one as I thought it was cool that it was offered to people who had been regularly entering his lotteries that year wether or not they had been successful.

That's some 'fearful symmetry' with those Tygers :)
My favourite toy is this old Marusan Ebireon , this year was his 50th birthday. His expression matches my mood most of the time.:)

@Mr. Humphreys I really enjoyed reading the story behind this plush; no wonder it is a favourite.

It popped up when I was searching for info on David Horvath, having seen his Flatwoods and Mothman creations.

Love the rocket and plush photos

Oh yeah! I’ve used GIMP a few times, it can be a little complicated but there are great YouTube tutorials. I’ve used it for the concept art for my pins which have been suspended indefinitely, lol

I love how the Tokyo colorway works with this little fellow. The animal-machine hybrid blows my mind. Sloths are quite cool and the gestaltic mecha face puts me in a great mood. The alternative head is crazy beautiful too.

^^ I have been asleep and had never seen this guy before now. I like the sense of humor in the design, and the paint app is quite nice. I like the others I found on Instagram. Here's hoping @CopASquatToys offers another release sometime!

Impossible to pick an all-time fave, but if I had to run away from home and grab just one on the way out, it'd be this. The Marmit Giant '68 (not the Megaton, which I don't like). This toy just has all the things I love.

@Anarcopapi @blakewest @Anti Social Andy Thanks guys! I hope in the new year I'll have more time to do a few more releases, 2021 got away from me with my biz and all. I need to put in another blank order soonish.

Between the Kanegon and these, I’ve narrowed it down. Strong tie between all of these. I would actually grab a second of the Masataro plush just to better my chances of lifelong geekitude. (The Katan I actually have a back-up since I don’t keep it in a glass-door cabinet).

Masataro Booska and Chamegon are probably my most cherished pieces.

There is only one answer for me:

Not my picture, but G1 Optimus Prime is the toy to end all toys for me. I had one as kid in 1985, and it was well loved and ended up broken or trashed at some point. Years later I would actually dream about walking into a small mom and pop toy shop and find old, dead-stock original Optimus Prime.

In 2000 Takara did the first of many reissues, and I finally was able to get an affordable minty fresh G1 Prime. I still have that one, and if my wife honors my wishes, I’ll be buried with it. ;)

My wife recently said she wanted some of her ashes placed in an egg-timer, so she could still participate in family games night even after her death.
