I’d hate to say, but the glow head and red mouth/eyes is givin’ me too much Pennywise and I can’t unsee it. But I do enjoy the homage.

I agree, it’s a thoughtful homage but I’m with @Brooklyn_Vinyl , it just doesn’t work right with this figure for me either.

It would be irresponsible for me to buy a second right now, but I think that might actually be for the best. I like this new one but the beauty of the toy for me is that I only have one, and I'm carrying it around to play with it. Firmly a 'toy', less 'wow, a collectible'.

Interesting, will be cool to see how these designs play out and how they work with the aesthetic of the line. Also curious to see what sort of/how Mothra is going to work as a ReAction figure.

Still really wish I could grab a mini 'Shogun' Godzilla.

They're still selling the glow Godzilla mini Shogun Warriors figure.

So I have to say, I was not expecting the ReAction version of the Toho beasts to be just scaled down Marusans.... but cannot say I don't like it. Classic and amazing for a very good reason. Was interested to see some new takes - which I am sure we will have with the other characters anyhow - but now my curiosity is peaked even more to see how, if they are going to carry over that aesthetic for this line, they realise original sculpts for the others. Very few people have ever attempted Marusan/Bullmark type figures to go with the original lines, and still fewer have nailed it. To you, S7 crew, you've definitely got our attention.

Bottom line from that interview: there's a Shogun Rodan Reaction Figure coming, they'd like to do a Marvel Godzilla and a Hanna-Barbera Godzilla but the licensing is more complex, so those may not happen.

The Ultimate Bio-Goji and Biollante were announced today:

The commentary I've seen about these on the Facebook groups has not been very positive, mainly criticizing the sculpt detail and comparing the figures to the similarly-priced SH Monsterarts ones from Bandai. I don't collect SH Monsterarts or Super7 Ultimates but I can certainly see a difference in the end results:

I do have two of the Marusan Godzilla Reaction Figures coming, looking forward to that. It would be nifty if they also did a Marusan Giant Gorilla in that format: no license required, great monster for the Godzilla to battle, and you can never have too many gorillas. ;p

I got the Reaction Figure. Here it is in the middle with the Iwakura Bullmark Legend and the Marusan Dengeki Kaiju Daisakusen version:

I like it a lot, but handling it is a weird experience. It's solid and heavy compared to a similar-sized sofubi. I guess it's similar to the way I felt when I handled those Gentle Giant scaled-up vinyl Star Wars figures for the first time. It looks like the various parts were painted separately and then the figure was assembled. As you can see, the paint breaks along the seam on the side of the belly. Also, it's made in Vietnam. I don't know if this is where the other Reaction figures are going to be made from now on, or just these. The simple packaging is really nice, elevates the carded figure to more of an "art object" than the Shogun Warrior one, IMHO. I strongly recommend it for anyone here, but I wonder what the reception is going to be like for people who aren't familiar with vintage Godzilla toys.

I'm sad it's not proper hollow vinyl like the Iwakura, so I'm on the fence about keeping it.

It's a strange feeling, isn't it? I've been enjoying it, though, fun thing to fiddle with while I watch TV.

Really appreciate hearing your thoughts on this Roger, and seeing the first reports of these guys in hand. Not having held one personally, but I can totally get what you are speaking to there. It's obviously a quite different beast, and I think most of us in the collecting (especially vintage) circle will have a strong degree of appreciation for these figures, but I can see with a lot of the more common (and 'Western') Goji fans this iteration could come off as a bit odd or niche. But they have those Ultimates to enjoy, what with all the hyperrealistic detail and changeable hands 'n all.
