The fact that these artists cannot but seem to help rehashing the same 'inspirations' ad nauseam is sad, and also makes me think how - despite how purportedly edgy and creative these toys things are - a shelf of them altogether must be such a one note blur of boring homogeneity.

Frank Mysterio is weird because half the time he makes really great stuff like his aztec inspired sculpts, then the other half the time he makes chewed up dog toys with dangling penises. The duality of man.

Indeed, back when he was still wearing the wrestling mask to hide his identity, and more of a graffiti artist, he used to comment on my Flickr account quite a lot. I gradually saw him start to make toys, and he was quite varied in his styles. Like he still is, but the 'primitive' sculpts he started doing just seemed like jumping on the Nag bandwagon. Nags were red hot at the time, so I'd guess it was a financial decision, rather than true artistic inspiration. That lumpy burnt turd stuff sells, man.

It just keeps staying shitty! Mickey D’s colorway! Dicks! Deformations! Skulls! Lottery!

I like NAG toys—well, the 4-eye is one of my favorite toys—but I’d be lying if I said I feel the line has made a positive impact on the scene; just a bunch of copycats, over-hyped, over-played, I’m-over-it, dumb prices, dumb clout, Imma arteest formula

maybe NAG was the best at what they did—and it’s all downhill from there.

I am mixed race. My father is black, and my mother is white. With that being said, this is awful. Also the one on the left kinda looks like my dad..:razz:

Well, I can start cleaning up my IG followers based on who buys this horseshit.

The heads are nice enough but the bodies are the same lumpy tiny penis we've seen countless times.

@Piecewise I have two of each of these figures, and while I see/understand the perspective, I actually quite like these. Body and all. The stumpy stature of the torso, legs and arms give ‘em a creepy appearance; almost off putting to the eye, but simultaneously likable. And it’s not a sculpted twig and berries set, it’s just lumped in a way that it looks like it. No idea if that’s intentional or not. There’s also a cool, lil’ face on the back of the body, and the Jack(pumpkin) has another face opposing to the one you see here.

To be fair it's hard to tell with the black vinyl like that. And I know his Kaiju sculpt, whatever the name of that one is, is pretty good.

@Piecewise That’s fair! Again, I totally get where you’re comin’ from in the critique, and I’m not even sayin’ it’s a wrong or bad opinion. I just like havin’/seein’ the discussions when people agree and especially disagree on a toy’s placement here. And I wholly agree, his Kohai sculpt is awesome! Drew’s a super nice dude, and I think a bit of a sleeper beast when it comes to sculpting and painting.

They just look like yet more Nag/SHB inspired, derivative toys to me.
I get it, people want to make their own toys to sell but at this point I can't tell one fugly maker from the next.
Same thing happens in most art/music styles.I have to wade thru 100 new drum and bass tunes to find one gem.
I realise that hommage and pastiche are valid phases in any creative persons character arc.I would hesitate before weighing in too heavily with scathing criticism, unless the subject matter was seriously offensive to me.

Yeah, its not the worse thing on this thread, but it is a bit fugly IMO.

It’s the weird pink and yellow spikes(???) on the mouth that weird me out the most. Could take off the third eye too.

The rest are super fugly, except the Toy Story dog. Dogs are cute 99% of the time for me.
Still though, enough with ripping off from franchises. Toy Story, a Skeletor colorway, and… whatever that boob-eyes screaming robo baby with sunken in cheeks is supposed to be, it looks too much like toysbian’s work.

People can't wait, find it radical and love on it on IG.
Little thing like this really get to me today. I'll take a multivitamin and a second coffee.
Glad some fellow boardies aren't going along with the fire emojis.

More two headed batman and mickey full of sexes and boobs poorly sculpted, rainbow painted mess please.

Marmit's president should know better. All the shit he gets for this is well deserved.

My question is, “Is the shotgun to put it out if its misery included—Or is it a separate lottery?”
