”View Active Topics" link in the navigation
Both "Recent Posts" and "New Posts" in the top navigation work similar to "View Active Topics, with "New Posts" only showing threads that have unread posts, and "Recent Posts" showing all threads.

    Last post button
There's a red dot next to the thread name in discussion lists, and clicking that will take you to the first unread post. Alternatively, you can click on the date / time under the most recent poster's name on the right side of the discussion list and that will take you to the most recent post.

    Bookmarks
I would suggest watching threads as an alternative to the old board's "Bookmarks" functionality. Once you've watched the threads you're interested in, you can either just view the "Watched Threads" or "Watched Forums" sections using the links in the top nav, or set up alerts to be notified any time someone posts to those threads or forums.

    Tagging - What is it?
Tags are a common method of adding keywords to content to aid searching and discovery. You can add tags to any thread on the forum, but don't go crazy adding unnecessary tags all over the place.

    Two-step verification?
Two-step verification is a process for logging in that adds an extra level of security by requiring a second method for verifying your identity along with your username / password. You can set it up here if you want, but it's probably overkill.

    Post deletion
Several people have asked about the ability to delete your own posts. After much consideration, I've decided to revoke the ability to delete your own posts. You can still edit your posts, but for the sake of preventing hit-and-run trolls and other douchebaggery, we're going to leave post deletion disabled.

    Multiple forum styles?
Unfortunately this would likely be too much work for us to maintain. With everything we're adding to the base forum functionality- and styling-wise, it would be twice as much work to get it added to multiple styles.

    Remove trophies
I don't see how trophies negatively affect anyone. If you're uninterested in trophies, maybe just ignore them.

    Remove “Members” tab
This new forum adds a new dimension of interactivity between members by allowing people to post and comment on profile pages. The "Members" tag is where this lives, and deleting it would make it more difficult to get to that area of the forum, so it's staying for now.

    Change the banner back
A few people have made the claim that Skullbrain X is over, and therefor the banner should be changed back. What makes you think Skullbrain X is over?

    Signatures on mobile
Signatures are visible when browsing on a mobile device by viewing the forum in landscape mode.

    Quote only quotes last post
This is by design. Quotes within quotes within quotes can become very difficult to navigate / take in. You can get around it by going back in and using the quote bbcode if you really want to have multiple levels of quotes in your posts. Okay, you guys convinced me. Old-style quotes are back.

    Timestamp on old posts
It seems that posts prior to the migration to the new forum don't have timestamps. They still have their posting date and still show up in the right place in the threads, but there's no time listed. This was a casualty of the migration, but I don't think it's much of an issue.

    Birthdays switched?
I looked into this. No birthdays were switched in the transition, there was just one birthday that was incorrect on the old forum and it transferred over to this forum.

    New mods
I'm planning on setting up some new moderators for the new forum as I'm only one person, and there's only so much I can do to moderate this whole forum. I'll be speaking to a few people soon in regards to becoming mods, so please don't reach out to me if you think you'll be a good mod. "Don't call us, we'll call you."

    Mark Forums Read button
There's a "Mark Forums Read" button at the top of the forum, and if you click it from the main page of the forum, it'll mark everything as read. If you click it within a particular category, it'll only mark the threads in that category as read.

    Change own thread title
This can be done using the "Thread Tools" dropdown at the top of a thread.

    Delete conversations
Conversations (PM's) can be deleted from your conversation list by "leaving" the conversation. Click the "Leave Conversation" link at the top of a conversation, and it'll give you options for leaving.

Quote / Spoiler / Code / Strikethrough bbcode in editor
These can be found behind the + icon in the editor, next to the Smilies, Image and Media icons.
    Member birthdays notice
This can be found on the Members page.

will "new posts" work like "view active topics?" and what's the indicator that you have not read the latest post in a thread?

Yep, "New Posts" is similar to "View Active Posts." There's a little circle indicator next to the thread title that shows if there's unread messages, and you can click that button to take you to the first unread post.

Thanks James! Great work on the transition. (but man, was that a tough day)
This I am actually interested in, too. I think we should come up with some new interesting filters.

Can anyone let me know what the image resizing code is, the old [imgwidth] tag doesn't seem to work, nor does the usual HTML type either. Probably just me doing something wrong though.

Okay, thanks James. Honestly no problem, I just thought there might have been a change in the way it was handled. These wee bugs can wait until there is time later on and less pressing issues. I am fine with bombastically huge pics.

The IG tag isn't working yet, either. Should I post more as I find them, or just wait and make a list?

A list would be great. I fixed Insta while you were posting that I think.

Also, I activated the legacy board so people can grab stuff. Please don't post there.

Yeah, I don't want it to seem like we are spamming you with every little nitpicky thing James. If there is one thing the SB community knows how to do, it is how to go overboard on minutiae.

    EDIT: List it is then.

Are the old emojis dead and gone? All the surviving ones are coming in with different graphics, and some are just showing up as text.
    e.g. [IMG]

(I'll try to restrain myself and just make a list from now on, pinky swears!)

will there be a logo again for homescreen button URL link on your phone?

seems that now after you read a new post, instead of it having the dot go away when you click "new posts" again or refresh, it takes the thread off the page.

Edit: looks like our homescreen logo is back now. Thanks James!

First of all, I don't want this to turn into a flaming session or just bombardment about complaints how this Skullbrain is not that Skullbrain. We have what we have, and without change there can be no progress. So, with that in mind, I think we would all like to see this new site optimised for us, the community. If you have any helpful suggestions for things you might like to see added to the new format, or alterations that might improve its function, please feel free to - proactively - voice your opinion. Please be specific as possible, so that we can address the issues adequately. e.g. nuSB Sucks!! is neither helpful nor specific, but I'd like to change the background colour, because I have trouble reading some text. Would this be possible? is something that we could actually look at.

Yeah, the 'new posts' only goes to unread posts; which is essentially what it is (i.e. new to you), but not necessarily the 'active topics' you might be used to. I also like the 'view your posts' button quite a lot, as it allowed you to see both unread and read topics together, that you were probably interested in (since you posted in them).

I think it would be nice if names were in a color, like blue. so you can see them easily.
atleast in the persons post under their avatar, not really necessary elsewhere.

Actually if you click on "New Posts", over on the right side of the page there's a link that says "Recent Posts." Click that, and it'll take you to a list of all recent posts, whether you've seen them or not.

I'll have to look into that. I know that David wants some blue in there, so maybe I can incorporate the blue and the red at the same time. That'll probably be after I get other stuff that's missing added back in.

    I got two things:

    1. It looks like the "New Posts" link at the top does not work exactly the same as "View Active Topics" from the old board, because New Posts will not show you posts that you have already read. However, when you click on "New Posts" there is a sneaky link on the right hand side called "Recent Posts" that works the same as the View Active from the old board. I can't seem to find the "Recent Posts" link anywhere else, but I would rather have that in the top navigation over the New Posts link.

    2. It looks like multiple "styles" could be added to the board so that each user could pick their individual preference. Under my account info, there is a link for Preferences, and in that screen there is a drop down menu for styles. I think right now we just have the one, but it seems like at some point, James could add others so you could pick and choose. That's not so important to me, but it seems like the colors and fonts are important to some folks :)
