Manny Daggers/MoonspellxRites here and I'm learning how to airbrush. Figured i'd start a thread to document the atrocities coming from my hands to look back at in shame when i (hopefully) learn how to do this properly! I will also be posting WIP shots on instagram under DarkMatterToys. here goes!
third attempt was a second GID Luftkaiser. this time i tried focusing on masking and brush control more.
Already 1,000 times better than the first couple times I tried airbrushing. Then again I was painting next to MechaVirus and other phenomenal painters so I was weighing myself against some pros at the time.....but really, great job!
I really like the "lava" theme on the GID Luftkaiser. One of these days I'll get myself an airbrush of my own.
thanks hellointerloper and misteryuck! read through all 14 pages of rich's How to Paint With Vcolor thread and it helped A LOT. not to mention i have great advice coming in from some good friends! gotta start somewhere though lol
first attempt at a kikaida mini bat. handful of things i woulda done different for sure BUT here it is anyway
Oh, yeah! That one's nice. Great color choices. This is in the wheelhouse of stuff I would consider buying. Also, was wondering if you painted those uhoh Errants in the your last pic? I'm not a primary colors type of guy, but, interesting. I picked up a set of Errants not long ago and they've probably become the favorite minis I own. Just tons of personality. I have absolutely no use for the pull-back car they came with, though. I do hope I haven't lost my sense of play...
thanks! i was going for black-chrome-hot rod flames but i got more halloween instead lol and those kikaider errants were actually a commission from Aaron! i have like six sets of errants and each is just spectacular! no pull back car though, although those sets were very playful lol
I didn't really pick up on either of those, just thought it was a cool color combo. 6 sets of Errants and no car? That's messed up! You probably qualify for an Errant bus at this point. Have you posted pics of those yet? I think I've only seen like maybe 3 different color schemes on them so far.
i will definitely settle for cool combo lol check the UhOh toys thread! i for sure posted some up there!
@MoonspellxRites Oh, didn't realize there was a thread. I actually thought it was just some obscure toy company that no else really knew about (that's only a slight exaggeration).
@MoonspellxRites The one on the right's got some nice colors, too. Seems like you've got a good eye for color and that's worth way more than technical prowess! OK, not sure if that's actually true, but I'd rather see pretty colors than someone staying in the lines. Not even making any judgments about your technical abilities, I'm not really qualified to do that anyway. And the purple/green one is an interesting combo, too. Just not my bag of tea.
thanks man! ive been tattooing for almost a decade and was hoping some of that composition and colors would translate over. for the most part i think it is but i wont know til i really learn how to manipulate the airbrush! its a long road and im barely a week in lol!
