Does anyone have biography notes or a history of Anraku? My shoddy notes indicate he began selling overseas in 2006. But embarrassingly, I don't have much on his biography. Anyone?
He was born in a cross-fire hurricane And he howled at his ma in the driving rain He was raised by a toothless, bearded hag He was schooled with a strap right across his back He was drowned, he was washed up and left for dead He fell down to his feet and he saw they bled He frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread He was crowned with a spike right thru his head ...and that's all I've got.
We're all very impressed you know some Rolling Stones lyrics, Odibex. Liquidsky, how about the interview that Medicom did with Anraku prior to the start of the preorders-did that have any info you were looking for? I meant to get the interview professionally translated. Google Translate yielded mostly garbage in this instance.
That is so funny. I was just about to log on and ask what color everyone who is only selecting one is choosing. I really can't snag both, and I am still undecided. With the deadline for preorder ending in a few days, I am not sure which to purchase. What is everyone else choosing (just curious)? The yellow just seems so sloppy, but the red is overpowering.
If I had to choose it would be red. To nitpick, I don't like the milkiness of the yellow. Too cloudy for my tastes. A nice bright yellow like one of the original colorways would have been much better.
^^ I tend to agree. Also, I reckon the red one will go better with all the other AA stuff I've picked up so far...
I like the yellow more still, plus I need some color variety on my AA shelf, too much red toned vinyl already lol.
These creeps came yesterday. For me this is the best AA/Medicom release yet. Nice respectful paint apps that let the unique vinyl color choices shine through. First time I got to hold one of these guys in hand and was pleasantly surprised at how chunky they were. That doesn't come through in photographs of them. View this post on Instagram
@BrickBat Nice! I was seriously considering the guy on the left, but they sold before I could decide. That's the guy with like the drill hands or whatever, right? And, yeah, "chunky" is not the first word I would've chosen based on the pics.
I share all your impressions on them. Especially the subtle use of the paint over the base vinyl color. And they are indeed chunky, almost as big as a Goga. Great release indeed, not disappointed a bit. Spoiler: Photos Methyl pollution by plasticxo, sur Flickr Cobalt pollution by plasticxo, sur Flickr
Is there anything under the tentacle-cape piece? Looks like it could be a separate piece from the angles in some photos - or is it moulded to the legs?
Wow - those look great! Can't wait to get mine. And the paint application looks clean - I know some expressed concern over the messy drill hand painting on the prototype. Where did you two order from that you received it already? I ordered mine stateside and expect it to take a while.
@badteethcomics the tentacle/body is one piece and the legs pop into it. @Kingboy D I ordered mine from Ratuken.
Methyl & Cobalt look fantastic. Just received the orange Sasakamabikuchi - all pics I've seen so far made it look kinda brownish so I was pleasantly surprised to find out it's done on a cheerful orange vinyl. Given the figure's size and the complex paint job it's pretty amazing these ran at a mere $135...
