So I won a lotto back in August. It was shipped via EMS priority from China on the 23rd. Hit a dispatch center on the 25th and hasn't updated since then. 2016-08-23 17:14:00 ZheJiangShengHuZhouShi 31300504 Posting 2016-08-23 23:20:00 ZheJiangShengHuZhouShi 31300071 Despatch from Sorting Center 2016-08-24 03:16:00 ShangHaiShi 20110600 Arrival at Sorting Center 2016-08-25 03:31:09 ShangHaiShi SHANGHAI Despatch from Sorting Center I pinged the artist via IG and he said he'd look at it. That was about a week ago. I pinged him again, message seen but no response. Looking at IG most American fans got theirs WEEKS ago. I don't mind waiting, but I'm pretty confident in saying it is lost now. I don't want to bug the artist and possibly get on his shitlist, but on the flip side I also don't want to pay $175 for nothing. Thoughts? Should I keep waiting or is it safe to say this is basically in some Chinese post office rotting somewhere forever?
I've had a few packages lost like that during my time. It is what it is. You could ask the artist to check on their end to see if they get a better response. If youre scared on getting on an artist's shitlist just for asking for help then this aritist might not be worth supporting. best of luck with the toy, I've had an instance where it popped up on my doorstep a few months later. It was a boss carrion so I was pretty happy with that surprise.
If you care more about some artist getting annoyed at YOU for something that is obviously not your fault at all then you do about your $175 bucks I guess that's that. If it were me I would contact the artist again respectfully but explain that it's not okay for my money to be gone and no toy to arrive. The person who sent the package can open a case to deal with the issue which should lead to either finding the package or determining if it's gone forever especially since it was shipped EMS which is a good thing. And I would do it all before the paypal refund time limit passes. If I got no toy and no help from the person who I paid for it and no offer of another toy at a serious discount or some kind of replacement you better believe I am opening a case and getting my money back. I have been on the opposite side many times and when I ship something and it doesn't show up I do everything in my power to find out exactly why and when all else fails they get a replacement at no extra cost or a full refund and an apology for the mishap.
Had a package from Spain in limbo for three months. Have no idea why it took so long, but I did finally get it. I was in contact with the artist from about the two month mark onward, and he was either going to send me a new one, or refund me, if it didn't show up. He did put in a complaint with his post office (has to come from their end) Since there's tracking on this, I would try and arrange that kind of deal with whomever you bought this from. That way if you the original ever shows up, and he's sent a new one or refunded you, you can send it or the money back.
No idea about China, but I've had toys from Japan and the US sit in some stage of the postal system for a week and longer without apparent reason (incl. the ones shipped by EMS). So I guess I wouldn't give up hope entirely yet...
Do not wait a single second. File a claim immediately. I have so many nightmare stories. It's easy for people to tell you to express patience. Patience will cost you money.
Had a textbook trapped in "repackaging" limbo for four months because the packaging got damaged, and somehow it takes FOUR MONTHS TO REPACKAGE A BOOK. So who knows. I'd contact the artist, ask them to contact the postal service, and if nothing comes out of that, file a claim.
Not trying to argue but if you can clearly see the item was mailed why would filing a claim resolve the issue? Paypal will not rule in the favor of the 1st party if tracking is provided and in this case it seems to have been mailed I would only add that you try to email the artist directly and to the address you sent payment instead of going at them via IG Doubting they take offense to your plight and betting they are also upset that the box is delayed. Sorry but from everything posted I do not find fault in the seller at all. Is this for that Human Pig doll?
Paypal will rule in favor of the buyer without a doubt. He paid for something and it didn't show up. The fact it was mailed doesn't really matter. Paypal requires proof of delivery not proof of shipping. That's pretty much the whole point of paypal protection. There are countless ways sellers could scam the system if all that was required was proof of shipping. I agree that it might not be the sellers fault(though many cases of overseas mail getting stuck in limbo are simply due to mistakes on the shipping label)but getting the item to the buyer is the sellers responsibility. You can't just get it in the mail and say your job is done. Especially when the seller charges for EMS shipping. That method has tracking and insurance for a reason. Now it's up to the seller to open a lost item case himself and either get the item found or collect on the insurance to refund the buyer who himself cannot do any of those things. He paid for the item and the tracking and the insurance for this exact reason.
It's always best to open a report, ideally on both ends. I've had packages get stuck for over a month and every time I've prodded them with a claim they have found a way to get the stuff to me within the week. I hope this helps, and good luck!
The truth is there is nothing the shipper can do if it was lost in transit. The mail system won't do much in the form of help even if claims are filed. It's not the shippers fault and like you they are at a loss that's no fault of their own. Now, when you open a claim with PayPal you actively hurt the seller ( in the case artist) for a long time. PayPal records this as a hit and it goes against them. Again they did what they were supposed to do yet due to the shippers fault they get hit. If you like the artist or store never file a claim. Ask them to see if they have a solution if they can't refund. Maybe a future release or some special blank or something. Or just accept both of you took a loss on this.
Yeah, I think Rich has a point. You do have the tracking info, so you know it has been shipped. The seller did his job, it's the stupid postal service that's at fault here. I've had an issue before where I complained to USPS about a lost package and kept pestering them until they refunded me the price of shipping, at least. They do sometimes listen. You also do have the last place it was seen listed in tracking, so that would (hopefully) help narrow down the search a bit if you or the seller were able to get the postal service to look into it. At least give the seller a chance to file an insurance claim and then refund you. Send them the tracking info as proof that it never reached you. I'm sure they'll understand.
Yeah, I don't plan to open a claim unless I feel it's going absolutely nowhere (no responding at all after multiple attempts). The artist didn't fuck up, the postal service did. But then again, if the seller doesn't want to pay the extra dollar to insure a package fully, that ain't my fault. I learned that mistake the hard way as a seller when I didn't keep receipts and didn't insure. A package was received, but the buyer claimed it was "empty" and his proof was a picture of an empty envelope. I had no evidence such as the weight of the package on the receipt, so I had to eat the cost. I'm not in a giant rush, but I think it's absolutely ridiculous to expect me to just eat $175 for nothing IF, and that's a big IF, the seller can't/won't do anything about it.
Did you say 23rd Aug? That's about 3 weeks. My 2 cents, most of my purchases are from overseas sellers and artists. They may take a week to over one and a half month to reach me usually. Paypal buyer protection is covered for 6 months. I set a 2 months limit. Once any purchases over 2 months do not reach me, I file a claim. Paypal will work in the buyer's favour. But from experience, as long as the tracking number is still valid in the system, the item is still being delivered. So you have to be fair to the sellers/ artists. Hope you get your toy soon.

Indeed I did. USPS delivered it to a neighbor down the street about 5 houses over, but a few days later he got it to me.
I recently sold a KAWS print and it got stuck in customs for over a month and then finally started moving. I was scared as F because I took a huge gamble on insurance coverage! I called USPS to inquire and there's basically nothing the shipper can do once its out of their hands (is my experience).
