^^ Same here. That's very weird. Especially that the back would be painted instead of the front... Did you order directly from Japan?
No - through a store stateside. But one on YJ is also similar to mine. Very strange that they would do a bunch with and without.
Kingboy, I just checked mine and it has copper orange spray on both sides. Probably just a QC issue, I imagine these preorders probably had high run numbers.. the color choices were among the better of the medicom preorders to date, so maybe a bit of sloppiness due to large orders and painters running behind schedule? Just speculation on my part. Still looks pretty good though, but I feel your pain.
Those look great! Glad to see and hear that all the boardies received nice pieces. Considering how long I've wanted one of these, I will cease my complaining and be grateful for what I have.
Still having QC issues? It looks like Medicom has really mishandled these AA releases glad I tapped out when I did.
Sorry to hear that guys! @Kingboy D I know I mentioned they all looked like that, but that was such awhile ago that they arrived that I might just be making that up in my head. Apologies. But holy hell new Anraku VAG is coming up next! Dont think I can post photos yet.
Ghidorah is a space monster. The monsters from Earth cannot win. I will get in touch with you, when you feel like giving up.
Will that matter? I've only ever ordered a Medicom production once from a US vendor...and it was a complete disaster. I went back to ordering direct from Rakuten and I've *never* had a problem with them (not to mention they're cheaper: you're basically paying Japanese retail, plus shipping to the US...no mark-ups from a US distributor).
I disagree. Take these for example: http://sofvi.tokyo/160424-anrakuansaku/ 19,440 yen retail plus international shipping. With the current conversion rates, you are looking at probably $230 - $240. TAG offered these for $170. With shipping, this comes to under $200. http://shop.toyartgallery.com/product_toy_info/pre-order-c-17/mamaregon-anraku-p-6783 The only drawback is the longer wait to get them. But I have been happy with their service and like to support companies that offer these stateside.
Due to licencing you wont be able to order them direct from rakuten or cj mart to an international address either. (If it's the same as the mothras.) You will need an agent. I prefer the dress version. You?
Ah, if there are licensing restrictions in place, then it's a moot point. I've only ever ordered super robot stuff from Medicom, and those figures have always been available internationally. This will be my first Anraku. And incidentally, I've never ordered from TAG either. I'm honestly not sure how they're able to offer a $190 (Japanese retail) toy for $20 less...and still be getting a cut. Is that sort of pricing normal for these Medicom Anraku releases??? Well...whatever. Agent in Japan, it is! Anyway, dress version all the way! I want the Queen Bee Kilaak, not some flunky!
I like these, they just don't feel like Anraku toys at all...I have no qualms with him doing licensed fare. They just don't look like AA toys. That's kind of interesting and fun in and of itself, though.
I was so stoked when I got my Mamaregon. could you post pics of Cambodia? I haven't seen the finished product yet
Just popping in to say, i got my red Drunk boy, and it is a beauty. Maybe I've been lucky, but all the Medicom Anraku I've ordered has come in top-notch shape. No missing paint or messy paint.
Hate to come in here and be a huge Debbie Downer, but had to share my Green Goga woes. I managed to nab a Green Goga on sale on Amazon, and was so psyched to have my first AA piece arrive in the mail. When I opened it up and actually was able to see it up close, I was so disappointed. First of all, the paint colors were nothing like the release photo. The brilliant red was an anemic red-orange, and extremely thin in places... And you know what color red + green make. Mud. Brown mud. The blue was duller than in the photo as well, but not as off as the red. The blue sprays were stronger too, so that was less of a problem. Now let's talk paint control. Asymmetrical sprays on each side of the Goga's head were extremely obvious, and unflattering. (Photo from my Instagram) View this post on Instagram The sprays down the head were even more jarring. The spray veers off the the left as it goes down the top of the head, and the red sprays over the eyes aren't even at all. To make matters worse, the tail joint was put in horribly. I had to hit it with a hair dryer and push it around to get it into a somewhat proper place. (Photo also from my Insta) View this post on Instagram If I had paid the full, original retail price, I would have been absolutely livid. Thankfully I didn't, but this is still unacceptable. I understand this is factory painted, but I'd expect maybe a drip, thick sprays, something like that.... This is a whole different boat. Thin sprays, wonky sprays, asymmetrical sprays, and a red color that is so far from the photo. What the hell, Medicom. I'm getting this guy stripped and repainted as a happy green dinosaur. He deserves better than this.
^^ While the sprays on the head are indeed irksome and I understand your disappointment, the tail joint issue apparently is a problem that most Goga tend to suffer from. Regarding the colors, preview pics can be (and almost always are) way off due to lighting, white balance etc... Frankly, I've seen much worse quality control issues over the years and can't imagine it looks that bad on display..?
