Anyone know what the "adult" Hone Borg's ( with and without the extra head and attachments ) sell for at Shinto Gangu ?

I've seen prices of 6000-7000 yen in the shop photos.

Happy anniversary to Mori... he's a machine. Come November, I'll have been collecting RxH for 10 years...

This has me really excited. RxH is basically overseeing the whole project involving the TMNT designs.

I know Mori San is a big turtle fan. I maybe not as big of a fan as him but this is enough to make me say hell yeah all the way.

Right now its only Hong Kong that will be getting these but Unbox Industries is trying to put something down the line so everyone can nab a set.

    Why's Leonardo's mask different?

I was wondering this as well. Just maybe to not be 100% vintage with the designs. They have skull belt buckles as well to instead of the original ones with the first letter of there names.

    So these are licensed items?

Yeah there officially licensed through Nickelodeon. So that full head bandanna switch for Leonardo and the turtles carrying all skull belts i imagine had to be approved by the company first.

These will never be for sale to US based customers. It simply will not ever happen. So if you want a set get them from HK through a mule or shipping service or friend however you can.

Pretty reasonable at $400 bucks for the set since they are nearly a foot tall each and you get all four.

No your right, i misread that part. But its pretty much for everyone around the world as well. However im hopping this stance changes latter on next year. If not than its no big loss i guess.

I can safely say RxH's works are ones that I find myself continuously revisiting on a weekly, if not daily, basis. His figurative styles make me quite happy on the inside... Wish I took the dive to chat with him when I had the chance years ago at NYCC, but I was a mere peasant.

Indeed. Its why i find it such a shame that i've been priced-out of collecting recent RxH here in the UK. It seems most of the really
killer new-sculpts are going for shocking prices on the secondary market. I just console myself by buying some of the still awesome
older pieces that aren't considered so 'hot'.

The Turtles were a long time coming for Mori. It seems like ages ago when i read that the Mutant Head was his tribute to TMNT
and seeing photos of Shinto Gangu with those big 12" Playmates Turtles in the background . . . . i have the four and they look great
lined up on a shelf. Donatello has a broken bandana, so i'm looking to replace him, but they aren't so easy to find nowadays.

Those new figures are great. I don't think i would spend big moolah to own them, but i can appreciate the design. They are less
'literal' than a huge amount of TMNT toys out-there, and holy shit, there are a lot.

I (don't really) find it such a shame that i've been priced-out of collecting here in the UK.

Retail pricing has been on the rise. Secondary market pricing is just retarded. The exchange rate is the worst it's been in the last 20 years and shipping costs are almost on par with the stuff being shipped!

The one positive is that there's just so much sub-standard landfill being produced I rarely get butthurt about missing out on stuff.

Fortunately there are still a few good-guys that still help retain my interest! ;)

Luckily, i have that feeling less and less. I will continue collecting my stuff, away in a corner somewhere, casting glances at all the big scary grown-ups with deep, deep pockets.

Yeah, that is a huge part of it . . . and the cut to the middle-man if you use a shopping service.

I tried explaining my fascination and intrigue regarding Japanese vinyl figures to a 39 year old man today that knows nothing about the subject. Boy was that a trip.

I don't know how that story is relevant to any of this thread but I needed to put it somewhere. Voila.

I'm wondering how strict they are about keeping to a style guide. Mainly because tmnt have been licensed and reinterpreted in so many different ways. I think of all the cool elbow and knee pads James Jean did on his version. Also, tmnt are such a recognizable property/characters so I'm guessing small reinterpretations by artists have little impact, especially when these are going to a small niche market of collectors. Nickelodeon probably treats Sponge Bob similarly with Secret Base.

Maybe it just goes back to the original philosophy behind the artwork in the Mirage Comics series? There were some crazy reinterpretations of the characters back then..

Yeah iv never seen this one before. Its usually just been the normal headbands for most incarnations not a full blown half mask.

    @The MoogVintage @Anti Social Andy

2006 to say 2012 was a great though difficult time as so much quality stuff was being released.

Overall IMO, it feels like the "scene" just sort of collapsed with alot of the A list dying off or moving on to other stuff while the C players flooded the markets. Then US stores seemed to come under pressure. Either moving to cheaper addresses or teetering on closing or just closing. Add to that all the long time OG collectors who just sort of quietly disappeared and moved on. Notice so many sales with the theme of game over or moving on or growing up or whatever.

Myself, I've been priced out of certain toy lines at this stage. It seems like some collectors in certain parts of the globe have ridiculously deep pockets and I stopped competing with them as it was just getting stupid. Like Andy said, there's so much crap being produced today (especially East-West fusion junk) that its so easy to pass on so much these days.
