    Even with different spray caps?

Guess I'm better off using spray cans for coverage.. and hand paint the rest

Nothing beats an air brush huh..

Spray caps dont match up to an airbrush. It doesnt make sense until you use one and see
how much easier and versatile it is compared to a spray can.

Canned spry paint is terrible. Aside from lack of control and splatter, I don't think most brands would even really adhere to vinyl. Maybe an acrylic like tamaya would do better than most, if heat treated afterwards. You'd probably have to seal it with a 2 part epoxy clear coat like the one monster kolor makes, which would require an airbrush anyways.

If you're going to try, some people just cut circles in paper and spray through the holes to control the spray

Read and re-read this thread countless times. Just wanted to forward another thank you onto the list. Really great information for a novice sofubi-painter such as myself.

Airbrushes have much finer spray and far better control as well.

Yeah monster kolor makes aerosol cans of their paint that sticks to vinyl nicely and they have a clear coat too. I have done it when I first started but each small can is $12-18. So one figure can cost $30 in paint! It works though. I did a few "solid gold" all over pieces a while back and did like 3 layers of clearcoating and they came out nice. Looked wet even they were so shiny, but yeah not practical. So now I have a airbrush kit and just need a compressor and a place to spray. Just moved into a townhome. Grrr.....

Just curious, do you guys wash your blanks with soap before painting? I always figures there's oil and stuff on it from the factory. What's the practice?

Omg! I finally used vcolor and it smells bad! Haha! I'm more used to the gundam water based paints, vcolor gave me a headache even in well ventilated area.

For the limited airbrushing I've been doing, I just have my small work table up against a window that I set a window fan in and turn on while I'm working. I've only been painting in small batches for short bursts of time. Batches that are larger I'd recommend getting some kind of ventilation system as a fan won't do the job for a run of say 30+ figures.

Any tips on painting white on color base figures? I can still see the base color even after a few layers of white. Should I have a grey paint down as a base first?

It's me again. My vcolor paints have been clogging up when using airbrush. Suspect it's the thinner I'm using which is the mr hobby type thinner. Vcolor is acrylic and not lacquer right? Anyone found a substitute for vcolor thinners? Appreciate the help, thanks!

Yeah mr. Color is lacquer whereas V Color is a vinyl medium, completely different. You really have to get the right thinner for the medium or nothing will work.

For resin figures. Mr. color has been my go too for spraying acrylic. As well as Montana color.
I'm wondering if My Iwata neo will be able to push this thicker Vinyl paint?
Think I'm gonna go thru gunnzo for all this.

You have to thin it down; I do a three to one or more thinner to paint.
