So Tomie arrived yesterday. It's a bigger book than I thought! Here it is lined up with the other Ito compilations.

And here are the covers. Fragments of Horror has a slipcover as well, but it looks good without it.

Aside from Fragments (which is the same height at least), I love the consistency of the releases. It's like i'm collecting an encyclopedia of horror manga!! (Remember encyclopedias?)

I finally ordered my copy of Tomie yesterday when it was supercheap, I come home after having gone out for a quick shop and there's a package just standing on my doormat, which has never happened before (and no, I don't have fucking Prime). Appropriately creepy... :|

Yeah man, my favourite. I was just talking with my brother the other day and he said he's gonna start reading it again.
I said i cant read it again until i've read 'Path of the Assassin' i bought years ago.

I've already read 'Samurai Executioner', which is excellent too . . . .

I have been meaning to re-read the series. I was introduce to the characters originally from the chop up US movie version of Long Wolf and Cub re-titled as Shogun Assassin. When Dark Horse comics announced in the late 1980's they were translating the manga, I hopped on it right away regardless of the hefty cover price of $1.95 going up to $2.50 when most comics back then were like .75 cents to a dollar. I am glad I did then. Great read.

Anyone here continue on with Daigoro adventures in New Lone Wolf and Cub? Curious if it is any good.

    @rattanicus

That is a really good one. A while ago i bought 'A Zoo in Winter' and 'Guardians of the Louvre'.
I've read 'A Zoo in Winter' and it was great . . .

I think my favourite English translation of his is 'A Distant Neighborhood'. I've also been enjoying 'The Summit of the Gods'.
    I bought the last book but i haven't read it yet . . .

Have you seen this Goseki Kojima Art Book? I tracked it down a few years ago and i'm really glad i did. Its full of stuff from his whole career, and it does focus on Lone Wolf & Cub a lot. Really worth tracking down!

@The Moog - Thanks. I was not aware of it. Looks like Amazon Japan no longer carries it in stock as it is an old release from May 2000. YJA doesn't seem to have it up for auction. So for now it's on my list to look out for.

Yeah, its worth it. Its a nicely produced book with quality print and paper. One of my favourite pages is a group 'character study'
of a big mob of bad guys from Lone Wolf.

Finally finished Tomie; loved it, especially the early chapters which aren't as refined as Ito's later work but really show off his stilistic genius. Then blew through Dissolving Classroom which is actually a rather hilarious satire despite all the usual grotesque horrors and brain melting... Should I pick up Fragments of Horror? I've read mostly mixed/not so enthusiastic reviews...

I dug Fragments- glad I picked it up. A good little night's read... the stories are not mindblowing, and I'm sure some things are getting lost in translation, but art-wise it delivers... several typically great, wild, indelible images/pages to drink in.

Anyone read My Hero Academia? I have the first two but haven't read them yet. I've heard good things but I can't start them until I finish Vagabond.

So good! The anime is something me and Nate enjoy watching. Season 2 just came out too! I haven't picked up the manga yet. Currently trying to find legit digital versions of the old manga I have in comic book format. Why is 3x3 Eyes not available for Kindle!?!!

I am reading Yu Yu Hakusho and Shaman King. I know about Lone Wolf and Cub but the sheer size of the manga volumes is a little intimidating.

once i got going, i couldn't stop! the flow of the book is truely masterful, and the awesome art is allowed to tell a lot of the story. i need 1 1/2 omnibuses to finish all 12. can't wait to see how it concludes.

Agreed. It was a good mix of horror and creepy stories with Ito's art exploding with crazy splash pages.
    I enjoyed "Blackbird" the most.

Just finished Biomega by Tsutomu Nihei. Fun as usual with a ton not explained. His sprawling art is so awesome with complicated structures and ridiculous sizes.
More plot than Blame! and less than Knights of Sidonia.
