Lovely man! Both you and David are really nailing these superb outdoor shots. Great photos, and ones which really compliment these excellent toys beautifully. That's a great fellow man, I really like the play of purple accents on the brown base, but the simple yellow brings it back to tradition and prevents it from being overly metallic for my tastes.
Perfect shot on the tree trunk @rattanicus ! I got the same but in a different colorway and very much less detailed on the paint.
Love it, David. Another great 'location scouting' series. Also, I miss your home and I haven't even been! {sniff}
I got this years and years ago as part of a collection. Does anyone have any idea who the signature could be?
Picking this beautiful bastard up potentially with two of his other M-1 brothers. Such an amazing sculpt and character design. Spoiler
So I recently scored one of my favorite Yujimades...a Tsuchinoko. The box art is fantastic as well. Yuji originally made three versions in 2008-A, B, and C, with mine being B I believe. As far as I can tell, these were done on clear or possibly milky vinyl ( a close inspection in-hand leads me to believe this). There is at least one other version out there, a bright blue metallic paint job from Wonder Festival 2013 (photo poached from KaijuKorner blog): Other toy makers have done great versions of the creature, Bear Model and RealxHead to name a few. I can see Tsuchinokos hanging out and causing trouble with Shuten-doji, seeing as they both have a penchant for alcohol. For more info on one of my favorite Japanese cryptids: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsuchinoko EDIT: I went poking around and found RedYoda already put this blog together with most of the same info I included above. https://kaijuartcollection.wordpress.com/tag/m1-go/ Oh well. Nothing new under the sun I guess.
@Michael Beverage Lovely acquisition man! I have always wanted to pick up one of these myself too, a wonderful example of Yuji's work. I can totally respect your love for this particular cryptid too, I posted about the Bearmodel sets here before, and I also know Science Patrol has a version you might consider trying to chase down. And thanks for the refreshed on the RedYoda post; so much great information out there that I am always happy to see hasn't [yet] disappeared into the bowels of the internet ether.
Right on Steve- I just read and loved your Bear Model post. Those critters are definitely going on my ever growing Bear Model want list.
Posted this in the mail thread and forgot to put it in here as well. Love the flesh tone on this guy.
So, the good thing about all the selling I've been doing lately is that while I took pics of things for my sales thread, I also took the opportunity to snap some pics of my collection. Here is most of my M1Go collection:
It fits piggyback on dad; at least I think I've seen a pic of it like that. I actually never tried it myself.
Wonderful stuff Paul. I am not sure anything will ever surpass the Bullmark style Goji for me. Excellent to see that you have one with the special release base. And yes, ooh, that trike. For someone heavily biased towards that 'other' license group, you sure are tickling my toy pleasures.
I feel the same way about the Bullmark style Goji and the Jirass that it's based on. I still kick myself for not picking up more trikes when they when less expensive. Still want a matango, ultraman, and ultraseven; among others. On the next episode of SB Cribs...
So, I just recently discovered the Greenmons and holy shit, I'm in love.. It's such a cool sculpt, half flower/half monster?! Being an avid gardener, those toys are RIGHT up my alley! With that being said, it seems like it's an older sculpt and new ones aren't being produced anymore. Definitely on the hunt for some of these guys!
A taste I can appreciate! Well, most of the M1 stuff is 'older' in relative terms, with just a few new sculpts overall the past few years that I can think of; mainly repaints/reissues. But still Greenmons is very easy to get your hands on, so fret not. Some diligence and patience and I am sure you will be surrounded by horrible plant monsters in no time at all. Made this just for you: (apologies for choppiness)
Nice! Thanks! I've seen some blanks for sale but I'm not really interested in blanks for now. I'll keep my eyes peeled!
