Geez, what a coincidence as I played this at home yesterday as an 80's horror double feature alongside "Blood Diner." Enjoyable film! Have to say I ended up liking Blood Diner a bit more though, an absolutely ridiculous film featuring cannibalism and
projectile vomiting, naked kung-fu, wrestling and naked aerobics.

Also, does anyone here have love for the film Intruder (1989)? Saw it the other day and was blown away by the amazing cinematography and excellent gore scenes by KNB FX. It also features brief cameos from Ted and Sam Raimi as well as Bruce Campbell.

I watched this last year or so, but apparently it was the edited version. The main reason to watch it is the FX, so it was pretty bland without it. I need to see the uncut version one of these days.

100% on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm excited about this one.

Very good. Different. Emotional. Very well shot.
    Great cast.
The ending felt a little rushed and we felt the last third of the movie was the weakest but still a great movie with food for thought.

    Get Out!

I love movies that aren't retro, they just casually perform as if the last few decades of garbage never happened -- Peele's film felt like if the best of made-for-television horror from the '70s had gracefully aged into the now: with a genuine creepiness; just the right amount of strings in the soundtrack; and an allegory-laden story that would do a young Roddenberry proud. Imperfect, sure, but miles above its peers, and giant fun to see with a crowd. Quality shit.

Oh, and - as always! - avoid the trailer if you haven't already given it a click. This one was meant to unfold without the pre-sell. MUCH more satisfying if you don't know what you're getting into.

    Stoopit marketing machine...

    EDIT: Always with the typos....

Anyone familiar with the series, Key and Peele, knows that Jordan Peele is a remarkable writer, but, Yeah, based on the trailer alone, I had zero interest in seeing Get Out! . Wasn't until all the positive feedback from people whose opinions about movies I tend to agree with that it sparked my interest. Knowing of your disdain for so many current horror films, it's nice to hear that you enjoyed it too, @toothaction .

Not my usual cup of tea, but i enjoyed this one. The actor playing the blind man nails it.
    He's pretty scary.

Fede Alvarez is a pretty adept director. I love the Evil Dead remake. I've been waiting for Don't Breathe to hit one of my free services (yes, I'm cheap).

    Finally saw Pulse/Kairo. I guess it's horror?
Anyway, pretty cool flick. A little long but great to finally see.

The one scene with Yabe meeting the ghost was creepy! Her slow, exaggerated walk was unnerving. Why did she stumble?!! ARGH!

I saw the remake years ago. Kinda meh, but it was interesting to see if they could explain what was happening.

@spatula007 I love that Spoiler scene in Pulse, the movie is on Shudder and I'll occasionally re-watch that scene on repeat.

@The Moog that poster for Don't Breathe is a bit deceiving, it looks like a scary phantasm-like dude is gonna get ya. I thought Don't Breathe was decent, but I'd compare it more to You're Next.
I'm a fan of the home invasion genre and am anxious to see A24's release It Comes At Night...."A man learns that the evil stalking his family home may be only a prelude to horrors that come from within."

Big fan of You're Next; underwhelmed and maybe even a bit annoyed by The Guest. Thoughts?

Hmmm. Haven't seen the guest but was underwhelmed by You're Next. I think I succumbed to overhype on that one. Nothing wrong with it, just expected more and felt it was too familiar overall.

Love You're Next. One of the better flicks to come from that rag-tag band of film-makers. And agree on The Guest. Best part for me was Maika Monroe.

I liked Don't Breathe overall too, but it got to a point where I couldn't help but laugh at twist after twist after twist... A couple of the twists felt forced and a little comical, although obviously not meant to be. I think it would have been a better movie without so many.

Don't Kill It - is a must see if you like really low budget comedy horror and Dolph Lundgren. It has some awful cgi but I'd say 95% of the effects were all practical stuff and such a great throwback to when movies were real and not just syfy channel computer garbage. Again, if you aren't a fan of no budget films you shouldn't bother but if you like that kind of thing this is an instant classic. The dialog was actually funny and even though nothing was particularly scary the gore keeps on coming. Lundgren does a great job handling all the comedy and I hope they turn this into a franchise.

For those with Shudder subscriptions I highly recommend two German films that were added recently to their catalog. The 1990 shot on video gore-classic The Burning Moon, and 2015's not-really-horror-but fucking-bizarre-and-wonderful Der Bunker.

And that's the second recommendation this week I've seen for Don't Kill It. May have to check it out.

A nice workaround to my aversion to seeing trailers before I've see the film:

Well played, Gunn & company! Praise be upon Lee Hardcastle, Claymaster.

For those of you with Skinemax Lights Out has just been added. Watching it now, but am already disappointed that it's PG-13. Also, its not presented in the proper aspect ratio. Not as big a deal as the pan-and-scan VHS days, but as a movie snob I hate it when a movie isn't shown as it was made. As a cheapskate I'll watch something for free even if it's not presented in the proper aspect ratio. :)

I thought it was a decent time waster. Not great but not regrettable either.

This is on netflix now and it is full of overly dramatic asian zombie fun.

It's been said on here before, but having just left it, allow me to cheerlead for a moment. If you're a horror fan and subscribe to movie streaming sites, yall really need to sign up with Shudder. Their catalouge is large, they add movies more frequently than Netflix etc, with some movies featured nowhere else (including the only American access to some foreign features), and now they're large enough to get some movies within a few months of release. It's one of the only pay site streaming channels I visit anymore.

Also, has anyone seen The Devil's Candy yet? If so, what're your thoughts? The trailer makes it look like it could go either way.
