@quentor finally a toy I actually enjoy because of how ugly it is. Cant find a pic but the
ones Medicom did alongside the small ooze its were just as ugly and awesome.

Yeah its a unique type of creature i don't think to many ppl would have thought to beautify. The blobfish is my favorite from the artist as well. Hairless is to.

You know I love Doctor A for his steampunk work. But he should not have made sofubi. Yikes. Like there wasn't enough ugly in the main figure they actually made an omake to go with it.

I think its a rather creative idea since it resembles a ginger root which is all gnarly and stuff anyways. It has very kaiju/Cthuhlu feel to it.

That Toy Con one looks really nice. Looks GID to.

I really like this thing. It is a great homage to so many folk tales and myths about different root plants having magical properties. Like the mandrake root from Pan's Labyrinth that was used to keep the baby safe until that jackass killed it. Plus it was sculpted by Arshawsky who is a true legend. I cannot find a single thing to dislike about this toy other than the fact I don't own one yet. I don't personally own a single thing Doctor A has ever made but this is just beautiful.

You know I kind of like it, because yeah it's like a ginger root, it's just those scrolly carvings in it and stuff, the half attempt at a face, I just think it's sloppy, and not in a good way. I don't know it is definitely not on my want list. But yeah to each their own. This thread is dangerous because I don't want to piss off any makers! Lol!

Heh, if they cant take a bit of criticism they shouldn't be making toys. The toy market seems to be getting swamped with 'Western' Kaiju, so there are bound to be some mediocre / unpopular releases, with so much being released.

I like the mini dude a lot. I would totally buy that as a stand alone figure.
The big one is OK. It (obviously) matches the aesthetic, but I'm not loving it.

I think this sculpt's appeal also depends on the colors used.

i really like the Mandrake root inspired sculpt .I dig the idea of plant spirits as Kaiju ,makes a change from movie homages and old toy line rehashes.
saw this early sculpt a while back

The future ape is actually kinda nice. I was going to get the new purple/pink/blue colorway but I noticed they used to sell for 80 but in a few months they raised the price to 110, so f em haha.

    I was disappointed when i saw this . . . i dont make toys myself, so i shouldn't really talk smack . . . BUT

The newest one from Frank Mysterio. Don't get me wrong, ive been following Frank's artwork / graffiti online since before he was making toys,
and all of the toys he's made so far have been pretty decent. He had his own style going and his toys were different and quite cool.

This one however . . . he's totally jumping on the bandwagon of the Ugly 'Nag' style / Izumonster / Two face monster trend.
It is so unoriginal, it beggars belief.

I agree, I really liked the Antichristo 666 because it was so wacky. Demonic, yet kind of humorous in a way. This just looks like a Nag and a Nagball had sex in a pool of bubblegum and then this was spawned.

AND ANOTHER CONTENDER ENTERS THE FRAY.

I dislike pretty much everything Blackbook Toy puts out, but this takes the cake.
I don't actually HATE the body, but that fucking Mishka head (which I'm suspicious is actually just one of those shitty coin banks he put out a while back) and the horribly lazy spray on that right back leg makes me cringe. YOU HAD ONE JOB, to make the red "V" shape even on the front and back.
YOU GOT 3/4, 75%, THAT'S A C, GO BACK TO MONSTERCOLOR AIRBRUSH SCHOOL.

But hey, I bet you this new so-foo-bee will be just the COOLEST thing to hit Instagram.:roll::roll::roll:

    EDIT:
    • Designed by Lamour Supreme and sculpted by Kenth Toy Works, The Beast features the original MISHKA Keep Watch piggy bank for a head, coming complete with an all-new, giant-size body
Fucking knew itttt. And no wonder I don't hate the body, Kenth sculpted it. But they also painted it... That kind of makes me really sad now...

I see a "v" on the leg, it's just not as prominent. Would love to see you paint something.

This isn't my cup of tea, but I like this toy 100 times more than 90% percent of the stuff that gets put out these days. Sculpt is tight, paint isn't overly garish or metallic rainbow, etc etc.

But hey, what do i know?

Want to spot me the $400 or whatever for an airbrush and set of vinyl paints?
And I didn't say I hated the body. I think it's alright. The head is just the damn coin bank lazily slapped on there.

Didn't mean to get your panties in a bunch, but hey, reading Greg's asshole behavior on this board sure got mine twisted. Maybe you missed those threads? He's an asshole, his business practices are assholeish, he's an unoriginal fuckwad, and he's a flipper on top of all of that. Fuck Greg.

i kinda dig that body, mainly because it lends itself to numerous collaborations.
paint isnt my favorite but i dont mind that the front and back dont match. looks more freehand spray than paint mask cleanliness.

BUT i for sure wouldnt purchase this

At first glance, I thought that was a Skull Head Butt toy.

I know, right? Put an actual head on that body and it'll look... well, respectable.

The top one was released by Skull Head Butt in 2013. 2013!! Little late to the party there.

Wasn't Greg salty that SHB used the eyeball head years ago? Kinda funny this new body at least slightly resembles that of the SHB.

I hear what you are saying but I think this doll looks ok, plus it is Mexican vinyl which is intriguing. Its not like anyone owns 2 headed freaks as a style or whatever.

The face is great but I think a lot more work could have gone into the body and feet, penis should be bigger etc.

Anyways his prices are fairly low and Frank seems happy with it so who cares what others think. When I look at it I sorta hear the old Misfits song Violent World.

    Its ripe for vivisection.

The Skullheadbutt doll was a tribute to a toy from the '80s. The other doll hurts my eyes too much to fully go into detail on what I think about it.

i definitely agree with the fact that no one owns the two headed/two faced style, but i guess for me i just cant find enough attempt to make this toy different from two very prominent and currently active toy makers.

example, paul's hyper kraken also has a two faced version but its very different from any current works out there. rich has the troll variant that also has two faces but it also looks so different from the stuff out there right now. that being said, im sure if you dig for five minutes, you could find a mutant squid monster and mutant cave troll that might have some similar features.

    I don't disagree.

The whole humanoid, zombie, corpse riff is overplayed by anyone at this point. It seems like the needle is stuck in the record.

Would be refreshing to see plant or animal based monsters more often.

Agreed. Every time I see another rotting zombie with a rotting ding-dong, I think it's just wasted potential. :? Of all the things you could make... just another to add to the big list of "meh"!
