A few folks asked if I had pics of all the hp Kusogon I ever did and asked how many there were. I never took many pics of any after the 1st batch from SDCC 2009 1st one was and still is my favorite of all I ever painted, it looked like rancid cabbage: Very last one I painted: I think I did 28 hp in total not including 1 offs or micro runs As for other pics? Post them if you have them, some will never be seen tho since the fanbase in Japan do not belong to SB, those were about 11 total
Mighty K attempts his grandest flush yet: All apologies to Ser Spunge for ruining his pic. kusogon GIF
My first Kusogon, graciously sent to me via @kichigai's giveaway! I absolutely love this toy, and I can't believe my eyes have been closed to this one for so long. So begins another hunt for additions! Thank you, John! beaK rules, Kusogon rocks!!!
Anybody heard from John? He was supposed to send me a package SEVERAL MONTHS ago and has completely stopped responding to my emails and DMs. Is he ok? Any info would be appreciated.
I'm waiting for something from s while back as well. Don't care too much ab the package but have been meaning to text him to see if everything is alright and will do so tomorrow. I'm guessing he just needed a break from the board/toys/drama and will probably turn up shortly rejuiced back to his usual awesomeness. When I hear from him I'll let you all know, if he doesn't first
Topher did an amazing job on these homages! Very excited for the release of this trio!!! View this post on Instagram
I verbally abused Chris throughout the whole process! He exceeded my expectation on these ones. Looking forward to more of his work. Several Kusogon releases are set for the near future plus I have T-shirts and pinsets back in stock again. Kusogon Posters had an error so they are being reworked. Plush Kusogon will also return, hoping to work with JAS again for a new brood. Concept version Kusogon old type boxed resin model kits will be out in June, more details soon.
Will any of these be blank? I would love to grab one to take on adventures without ever worrying about damaging the paint.
3 different styles of T-shirts, one of original type, one on camouflage and a limited one going out gratis to the 13 folks who preordered the Septic set. I plan to update blog Sunday with more details on that plus a final 3 Shits from heLL mixparts microrun. In addition to them being mixed part Kusogon, I hand painted them. Poster is of the Misfits 3 hits from heLL tribute released by beaK several years ago. High grade glossy stock standard modern posters. Screenprints for Septic sets look spectacular especially in backlight. They have the same style art I did for Septic shirts. Some kinda mumbo jumbo inspired septic waste treatment plant interior mechanical drawing transparent inserts blah blah blah. Monsters Fanclub Kusogon pinsets will be mailed out Friday May 5th, with a Ltd. CD featuring of one of the five War of the Kusogon old type radio promo trailers. Another Kusogon blank unpainted release hmmmm....... will have to consult with a Southern Hermit to see if something can be conjured up from the depths.
Thanks man, more cool info to come with this release soon. It was really fun to revisit and research those old toys, makes me want to own the originals!
@topher Hukkukodo has some really great re - issues, many of which can be found on Mandarake. The original IKB toys, from what I've seen, have been very, very expensive!
Originals are just crazy hard to find at all. I have had my eye on a set of vintage originals that are over a couple grand for the set of 3 Hedoran. Mr. Yoda is the only guy I ever saw with ones still in their original packages. I would not even want to speculate how much those command these days. Viciousfun and ebay have lots of Hukkokudo right at the moment plus of course Mandarake has had a flood of them in the past six months. From what I understand, Sato-san used original vintage molds he had purchased over time. It seems like he cleaned out his warehouse or storage. I doubt folks in the future see as many as this moment. Once they dry up even the reproduction stock will be hard to find for some versions.
I appreciate the consideration! I realize it's a bit rude to ask for something else right after you announce several things you are already doing for fans. Honestly I do like having painted toys on my shelves but there is something special about blanks that I can happily shove into a backpack or a pocket and carry around with me wherever I go. Painted vinyl feels like art made out of toys. Blank vinyl feels like toys made out of art.
@kichigai I hesitate to ask this, because I'm afraid that I already know the answer, but is Target Earth not producing the standard size Kusogon any longer?
There may be a few more TE version in the works but right now they have a full plate so let's wait and see. I know with next year marking ten years of Kusogon I would like to see a few exlusive Japanese releases. @Waterwater I would never consider it rude to ask questions nor in any way took offense to that question. As it stands I hope to be able to offer a final chance for folks to pick up Kusogon with the War of the Kusogon boxsets for 2018. I have been working for 3.5 years on that project so there's been a lot of effort and planning on my part for that to be the last offering.
The sculpt is growing on me since this thread keeps getting bumped. At first I thought it was like the dalek from Dr. Who.
@sumatra71 Neat! I hope youre not going to try and trademark that sweet double horizontal hand sign. Love the posterized look of the kusogon, makes it look menacing.
Eat shit! The end result of this long forgotten giveaway --- my first and only marbled Kusogon down the hatch!
