^^^^^also @coma21 you mentioned Black Bolt. Is Marvel actually going to be introducing him and if so in what? I haven't read or heard of anything regarding this...then again I don't follow comic book news on the reg. Kinda wanna go down to Newbury Comics now and browse through some comics...

@MisterYuck ABC is doing an Inhumans tv show, royal family, even the giant, teleporting dog. It's filming now.

The movie looks amazing, but watching the trailer, I couldn't help but feel like it was Guardians of the Galaxy disguised as Thor. Honestly took away a bit of my excitement. Hopefully the next one isn't as lighthearted and goofy sounding. Hela looks incredibly bad ass, though.

Ya know I thought the same thing, but I'm actually digging it a lot. I re-watched Thor about a month ago while on vaca and I think this is the juice it needs. I found somethings to be lacking from it.

I think the first two Thor movies are weak as shit. They were to scared to go full Asgard full Kirby and they fall flat. I think the addition of Hulk and a more surreal GotG style will help this Thor movie be tge best one.

I think this movie will be pretty funny overall but I'm looking forward to it. The director is the same guy who did What We Do In The Shadows which was just fucking hilarious. He also did Hunt For The Wilderpeople which was also seriously funny. I think it will work for Thor because as a character he's is almost the comic relief in all the team-up movies. His own movies both took themselves too seriously and failed to pull it off so going the dark comedy route seems like a good change for the franchise.

Dark comedy, I could totally see and prefer, but the trailer feels more knee slapper type stuff. I liked that the first two movies had a darker tone, but I do agree they took it a little too seriously. And Thor's comedic value always seemed naive from his character, like, "It's funny 'cause he doesn't get it!" sort of way. Here, it's like he's trying to be funny. I'm very much still goin' to see it, but with WAY too many words, I'm sayin' this first teaser didn't instill much excitement for me.

I totally get it. I think I've just grown to expect marvel movies to be pretty much just action and comedy. So even if I would prefer something much more serious I know that's not what I'll get. Which is fine because we still get stuff like Legion and some of the netflix marvel stuff too. The whole punisher arc in daredevil season 2 is probably my favorite marvel thing ever. The fact they are giving him his own show because of all the petitions from fans is amazing. Thor 1 and 2 were mostly just boring. Funny beats boring for me at least but dark and violent would be my first choice..

Oh, man. They finally released a Punisher online "poster" for his Netflix series, and I got way, way excited for it. Bernthal's portrayal was so goddamn good. That prison hall scene from Daredevil Season 2 is legendary.

    Hell yes, loved that scene.

I think in general what the netflix shows are doing(and Legion)that the movies can never seem to pull off is having great villains. Kingpin was amazing in both seasons. The guy from Jessica Jones was such a bastard too. Even Luke Cage had someone you could hate and like and empathize with. The movies just use cardboard cutout bad guys that you don't care about one way or another.

So excited about Taika Waititi doing a Marvel movie. This guy will get my ass into a seat whatever he does!

Finally finished Iron Fist. It was a drag and the weakest of the Netflix Marvel shows but I can see some future potential.
Also, I liked how they did the Daughters of the Dragon set up.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was a blast. Simply great entertainment. I could watch it again right away. And then once more.

Make sure to remain seated for the 5 mid/post credit scenes ;)

I liked Iron Fist. More than Luke Cage, or season one Daredevil at least.

A huge Marvel Studios exhibit just opened at my work over the weekend - figured some of the guys participating in this thread might like to check it out? The entire ground floor of the museum is packed full of props and costumes, comic book art etc. - each gallery room is devoted to a franchise eg Thor, Hulk, Captain America etc.. Now I have to be the nerd who goes back to work on his days off to hang out and look at Marvel stuff

Completely agree. I know everyone (the majority) was well taken with the first GotG, but it never struck the same chord with me (probably because I am an 'old' and remember the early incarnation of the team). This one was so much more, PLUS Kurt Russell. Honestly, just a heck of a lot of fun. I am not saying it is genius cinema or anything, but if you are a comic fan, love splash pages, and have been intrigued by Kirby's space scenes, well, you'll find something to enjoy in GotG2. Oh, and did I mention Kurt Russell? Honestly, he just makes everything better. Do yourself a favour and go see it; If you don't smile, laugh, or cry, at some point in the movie, I'd question what you are doing on a forum about plastic toy monsters anyways.

Glenn, that is pretty fantastic! As cool as I think it might be for locals to attend that exhibit, I think I am more just jealous of you being able to work there! :)

Saw Wonder Woman and really liked it. Did not love it, but it was a great introduction movie for her. Finally a DC movie hero who is totally ok with being a hero
I am so glad that DC finally gave one of their characters a good treatment. If they keep the tonality of this movie for future DCMU features, I will be looking forward to the next DC entries.

Oh, and the last season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was sooo great. I liked AoS from the first episode of season one, but it is amazing how they let their characters grow from stereotype casts to full fledged (super)human beings while adding more and more to the universe. At this point, it will be nearly impossible to ever merge the movies with the TV show. I really hope the next season is not the last one though they advertised it as such.

I have read a lot of positive stuff, which is a good sign, especially for Warner/DC righting this ship that is listing pretty heavily at this point. I will be really interested to see what comes of JL, now that Whedon is taking over the project. I suspect that it might only be for minor re-shoots or finishing off some scenes, and that the trainwreck it seems to be will continue, but that is not to say I am without optimism. Well, very little anyway. A decent score by Danny Elfman might also lend some musical cred that the past ones (Marvel included, mind) have been sorely lacking.

I have not yet had the chance to finish AoS, but I find the show has been really up and down. In that respect, I think the last season has been better than others, but it is also a pretty low bar. They are definitely not going to cross over, despite several of the characters making the leap from one to the other (but only in the one direction), and I'm fine with that, not everythng has to be completely intertwined for me to enjoy them, as much as the comic nerds are demanding a 'shared universe;' but the Netflix shows on the other hand, I think would fit in like a nicer sidebar to the CU. Again, I suspect it won't happen, no matter how much the influence of the latter might flow into the former, but at least for me it meshes a bit more.

If the next season has to be the last, I want them to open up a big can of weird and give us a MODOK episode. They can retcon him into Hydra or something. I just want a live action MODOK.

Edit: Or time travel with Kang the Conqueror. I would also accept Kang.

P.S. I don't want to see Hercules, unless he is played by Kevin Sorbo, then maybe.

That would be great Blake, though I think probably better handled by the movies than the television show. A Modok or Kang on AoS budget sort of makes me fearful, if I am honest. BUT, I can at least say that where the Conqueror is concerned, don't expect it to happen, as his rights are tied up in FOX's deal - along with a large number of other characters I'd love to see realised properly [see DOOOOOM!] - so unless we see some deal between the studios, which hasn't happened yet and isn't likely to if we use history as a basis, the 'Marvel' films will be limited to some of their other tier characters, hence setting up Thanos as the big bad of the MCU towards the end of phase I.

I just saw Wonder Woman yesterday. It was better than I expected, but I didn't think it was great. Mainly because of my selective suspension of disbelief...so she can jump through brick walls and survive explosions without a scratch, but can't take a bullet? (But an Amazon goddess that lives on an invisible island of only women forged by zeus to protect the world of man--ok!)
