For those that have seen all 3, where would you rank them?

I haven't gotten a chance to watch S3 but the second season is definitely a favorite of mine.

Agreed. 2 is awesome. But it only edges out season 1 by a little.

2,1,3 but each hold up strong on their own. Even though more people were down on this past season, I still think it was a perfect companion to the past two seasons and as always, cant wait till the next season already!

Superfluous at this point but will join in the 2,1,3 chorus (100% agreed with Bryce in regards to 1 & 2).

S3 wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but lacked a certain 'je ne sais quoi' of the 2 prior.
Agreed the story took its sweet time to pick up steam. The one-off LA venture (while an appreciated nod to S2 and Barton Fink) 3 episodes in did NOT help that cause at all. Sidenote: despite being a throw-away role, it was nice seeing another 'Always Sunny' alum visit the Fargo universe.
Will also concur that many elements felt forced this go-round... especially concerning the role reprisal from S1. Not to say I didn't I enjoy that surprise... but more the fact that it aligned with the signature action/violence that was (for the most part) lacking in earlier episodes.
I can appreciate a slow burn tale like the best of them... this one just started off very scattered and not having much affinity for most of the players made trudging through it a bit more grueling.

McGregor's dual role was good but not Emmy-worthy and both Stussy bros were tough to have any empathy for. More critical of Coon... after appreciating her talent on 'The Leftovers', this role just seemed phoned-in. Sorely missing the pep & spunk of Margie Gunderson (that Tolman perfectly captured in S1) and the accent was negligible at best :( Guessing this was why Officer Winnie Lopez was written into the story... and kudos to Olivia Sandoval for her performance.
All said Thewlis' brilliant portrayal of the well-written Varga kept me hanging on.

In S3's defense, many of its flaws are forgivable. Very few shows can run at peak performance year-after-year... and 1 & 2 set the bar so damned high. Wasn't left feeling disappointed at all... maybe just slightly underwhelmed. Will also buy this season when it's released and confident my criticism will lesson and appreciation will grow upon future re-watches.

I like them best to worse in the order they came out 1,2,3. Don't get me wrong 2 is really good and it's almost a tie with season 1 but Malvo just made that season for me.

After sludging my way through the clunky high-school film project known as Legion, I lost all interest in Fargo S3.. could not get invested in it at all. Season 1 was amazing, Season 2 was great... maybe the addition of Ben Kenobi in S3 pushed me further away as well.

After rewatching seasons 1 and 2 and the Fargo movie. I stand corrected. Season 1 is better then 2.

Season 2 adds a lot of layers but in season one there is something completely gratifying to the character evolutions of Gus/Molly/Lester etc.

Just redid 1 and 2 too. Prefer 2 over 1 by a hair. Billy Bob kills it in 1, and I really like the family angle that forms between Gus, Greta, Molly, and old man Solverson. Season 2 just has style out the ears though. Kirsten Dunst, and the guy who plays Dodd are fantastic, especially when they're together. Also, the evolution from a butcher to The Butcher.

"Well... then... we show'em where the flank steak is."

Yeah, he is the thing that makes me hesitate about choosing 2 over 1. His ruthlessly professional hit man was such a great character,
but overall season 2 is still my favourite. I loved everything about it . . .

Can almost say BBT stole the show in 1... but that would be a disservice to the phenomenal performance by Freeman (and rest of the ensemble).

Ultimately I think the 1 or 2 choice is apples & oranges.
The solo villain (mirrored in 3) is great: apples
The slew of antagonists (Gerhardt clan, Hanzee, Milligan) works equally well: oranges

The "style out the ears" (well-said ) and killer soundtrack (K-Billy's 'Super Sounds of the 70's' anyone?) gave S2 the (ever-so-slight) edge with me.
    P.S. Bruce Campbell... nuff said!

To my surprise, I agree with pretty much everything that's been said.

While I loved the weird & "off-genre" elements in season 2 and felt they gelled perfectly with the whole, some of the overly whimsical touches in season 3 ( like the truly pointless animation sequences in one of the early episodes) actually felt slightly pretentious, like Hawley was trying too hard. BUT, then again the Peter & the Wolf thing was wonderful and I think Thewlis absolutely fucking killed it; loved every minute he was on screen - the dialogue ("In the favelas of Brazil, there are six year olds with Glocks..."), his performance and the scene that ended his arc. Poor Sy tho...

    Hi, me again.

Off to an excellent start, I'd say, and what a genuine treat that my new favorite actie person, Jessie Buckley, showed up! Knees of bees, she is.

She's doing a great job, its such an OTT 'weird' character, but she's charismatic enough to handle it without it being distracting, or just too much.

Third episode in and I'm hooked. Tim Olyphant turns up as the Mormon bounty hunter (steals every scene he's in) and I realised the cop with the nervous condition is the same actor from Boardwalk Empire that played the half-faced sniper. Chris Rock isn't completely convincing me. Its not that he's particularly bad at acting. Its just - he's Chris Rock the famous comedian, its hard to see him any other way.

This season is different from the other three because its no longer based in a small town. The City location was a surprise, but they're still throwing-in plenty of Coen-flick references like the others, and I'm still getting the same vibe from the writing and directing style. So I'm digging it.

    ***** SPOILERS *****

OK, episode four dropped and not many people here are watching I presume?

I'm enjoying this season but maybe not as much as the others (so far). Perhaps the gloomiest and darkest season?

Much like s02 which had a vague UFO theme, this new season seems to have a vague GHOST theme?? Chris Rock is still very distracting and takes me out of it. He's doing a perfectly serviceable acting turn, but its Chris Rock, with Chris Rock's voice. I can't seem to get past it ...

I think the craziest thing the weird nurse has done is not lock the door to her 'Angel of Death' shrine closet

Did the last episode lose it's sound editor? There was so much background noise in many of the scenes.

Characters are a bit over the top this season. Gaetano especially. I can't stand it when actors do the bug eyes to show they are crazy. But maybe that is to show crazy and low intelligence. Not sure, actors choice of course.

Yeah, i had a hard time with that initially. He's so over the top, but I suspect its intended to be funny. Once I took the character that way, things improved - his pratfall in the snow for example ... !!

This season is weird, its got all the ticks and querks of the previous seasons, but this time its in a big city. Two gangs testing each other, looking for advantage. Its reminding me more of Boardwalk Empire than Fargo.

Saying all that, I'm still enjoying it. So many great actors and the story is very compelling.

Is the dirty cop being played by the guy who was Richard in Boardwalk Empire old news? I just figured it out if so.
