Some new stuff iv been playing with. The range of articulation on the Ninja range vastly though so its hard for me to get a right pose sometimes because of all the possibilities and interchangeable parts.

Found these. The Sectaurs sets are a thing to behold . . .
I have a few loose Sectaurs figures and they're really cool. Making the larger insect 'steeds' into hand puppets was a great idea.

YES!! Thank you so much Moog. These are great, I love(d) the Sectaurs. Such a different - and understandably risky (which it turned out sadly) - take on toys, but at the same time, completely of its time. A much underappreciated line, and, it sort of saddens me to say, part of what became the final days of Coleco. :( I will always have a soft spot for them, and those are some great catalogue pages. For anyone not familiar with the line, the [massive] playset is a thing of legend.

    ZICA TOYS is remaking Sectaurs!
    Think they're doing a kickstarter.

Those are sort of interesting, and it is cool to see the line re-imagined as a standard action figure, but if I'm honest, it sort of loses everything that makes the original so unique. I also don't get at all the extra hand accessories. Even if you are into that sort of thing, it seems much more suited to the 1/6 scale, high detailed dolls than small actions figures, but even still, these all seem near identical to each other, so I am not seeing the purpose? Anyway, cool to see, and if/when they get around to the insects 'n mounts (and Hyve playset) I'd probably be more excited. Still nice to see other people still fans of this line.

I agree @ultrakaiju. I only had a couple of the figures with their arachnisidekickpuppets, but they were some of my favorites. On the plus-side of this revival , at least these can be a gateway to the OGs.

I'm reminded of the Battle Beasts resurrection a few years ago, where the line was brought back as part of the Minimates universe, and like these new Sectaurs, they were also quite different, without some of the highpoint staples of the originals...

Selections from Hasbro's 80's Battle Beasts line (first created and marketed by Takara as Beastformers in Japan), complete with their individual weapons and their heat activated elemental chest hologram stickers):
    [IMG] [IMG]

Selections from the Diamond Select Minimates versions :

My favorite positive of the negative reactions to the Minimates Battle Beasts was Takara responding with the decision to resurrect the line more similar to it's roots in Japan, with an evolved version of the elemental chest emblem affiliation game (now with dice). This time under the name Beast Saga, and with each character available in 2 versions, either in solid colors (like the originals) or in a mix of translucent colors.

Selections from both of the Beast Saga versions: [IMG] [IMG]

Then they even made 3 of the characters larger and in soft vinyl: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Anyway, ha, that happened. Not sure why I went thru all of that. If I had to attach a point to it, I'd say maybe this has the benefit of bringing Sectaurs back up in conversation and who knows where it'll lead. But Battle Beasts will still rule over Sectaurs any day of the week. Just stating facts here. :D

Edit: Going back to these nuevo sectaurians, I also don't understand so many hand options. It's not the first time I've seen it, but it makes these appear to be more for display than play. All of the fast-paced fun of flying around and quick action of the originals wouldn't have been nearly as fun had you needed to stop to repeatedly change out the hands. I'd probably just pick the best set for holding a weapon upright and thrown away the rest.

To be fair i agree with you on the hands. Hopefully they are different closer up or during the final production.

But like with my Ninja and samurai figures they are only 6 inch figures like the He-Man line, DC Multiverse, etc so it can work regardless of the size of the toys. 1/6th scale figures can be much pricier to. People want options i guess if they are going to be spending 30 dollars per figure. Im cool with just extra weapons and stuff myself more than extra body parts.

So Mega Construx (formerly Mega Bloks) new Heroes series is hitting the stores!! It includes Skeletor and He-Man from MOTU, a Xenomorph and Marine from Aliens, and Picard and a Borg from Star Trek TNG. I definitely need a tiny Skeletor and alien!

Whats with the terrible looking Wolverine claws on the Xenomorph? lol

They couldn't afford different molds for the hands? Cause it looks really weird like that.

I am guessing - other than the obvious reasoning of being built of the simplest stock body parts to reduce costs (you'll note that the xenomorph's legs and feet are 100% the same as Skeletor's for instance) - this was probably done by someone who might have cultural 'awareness' of Alien, but has probably never seen the film or paid any attention to it in detail. Hence the idea to give it menacing 'claws,' when in fact it has none, and the lengthy appendages are more aptly sculpted as digits (even if it couldn't get the upside down hands right ;) ). Honestly, it's too bad, because the humanoid analogue parts of the xenomorph, along with it being a completely foreign (yes, alien) being at the same time, is a major component of what instills that basic fear among us.

Still, interesting toys; though not at all aimed at kids, so there's that. Seems like overkill on the articulation for this style and size of figure though. I'd grab some off a shelf from a toy aisle, but probably nothing I would hunt out specifically when there's so much out there already competing for my little money.

Good analysis. For a micro-figure, I'm pretty psyched about them.
Mega Construx do not have the same style (enforcement) as Legos, where everything is cleverly incorporated into their aesthetic, so they have a little more play with that. These are not Spawn toys either, so I think it's a decent job.

I won't be a completionist, but if they make a Triklops, I will freak out.

I love what Jada Toys has been doing with there metal 4 inch figures lately. Lots of really awesome 100% metal figures to choose from. And now they have just released the new Nano Metals figure lines. I saw these Street Fighter ones at Walmarts so i picked up as many as i could considering I love the game in general. But these toys are only 97 cents a pop so I honestly couldn't resist. Plus even though these are not as detailed as the 4 inch figure counter parts they still pack plenty of charm!

These two are probably my favorite though.

They also carry assorted Disney characters, Marvel, DC and even Harry Potter in this line. Its really all about what you fancy the most. Hopefully this new line of figures picks up enough to where the variety just goes wild.

Ok i actually saw them today after work before i went home. The Alien does not look bad but the claws are still very cringe worthy. Regardless i hope the line picks up for more variety. I saw some TMNT figures as well that looked rather promising from the same sets.

Im happy that Usagi Yojimbo is finally getting a few action figure releases. For me it seems like its just taken Playmates way to damn long to get this guy out of the TMNT archives.

It took me awhile to find the standard samurai version of Usagi because i guess its only 1 figure per case of toys. Not sure i like how hard Playmates makes finding some of these figures. Especially with a character like this that everyone wants.

And than i was able to find this Jumbo sized version from the line as well. Im overall not a huge fan of the jumbo sized line of figures that some of these companies have been releasing with the super limited articulation but i felt this one in particular represented the comic book and cartoon character rather well. And at 10 dollars it was not a bad price ether.

Wow! Thats fucking amazing! But its not American though right? In terms of manufacturer i mean. Its one of the main reasons i have not put Figuarts on here yet.
