I'd like the Twintail Tempura, Wasabi Kanegon eyes, and Hedorah sashimi, please. Seriously, I'm not sure I see the kaiju connection here, but it's a fun branding concept, and makes me wish I still lived in SF's Inner Richmond. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Kaiju-Cooks-Makes-Inner-Richmond-Debut-With-11859465.php https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kaiju-cooks-san-francisco
Kaiju Sakaba has always had edibke kaiju down best. http://kaiju-sakaba.com/kawasaki/menu/special.html
Definitely seems to be an unfortunate lack of kaiju incorporated to justify that branding, but hey, I would welcome the chance to live in an area where any kind of this type of selection was offered, let alone multiple options.
It shows 6 dishes and then asks if I want to see more pictures to download yelp... Didn't want to bother downloading the app if all it was going to show was more plates with food. A mental visual would have been just fine. Art on the wall? Toys all around? That's it. The menu didn't seem to impress so I was just hoping the decor made up for it.
I don't remember the name, but there is another Japanese restaurant not too far from that one on Geary that has old Ultraman and Kamen Rider posters on the walls. However, that's the extent of their Tokonatsu / Kaiju connection. For a lot of these places, I think oblique references to the genres are just part of marking Japanese culture as part of the ambience. It's fun, why not? And at least it's a little different from the ubiquitous Maneki Neko or Daruma man. But yeah, a full-on kaiju restaurant with memorabilia, themed food and toys would be awesome.
Googling Kaiju restaurants.... Kaiju is the first Thai-Japanese fusion restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
