Hopefully not the same asian flipper syndicate that wiped out the Refreshment booth at CurioCon and MVH booth (and more) at Five Points.
I went to D-CON last year around 10am and tried standing in the long long long asian sofubi line. 99.99% was asian flippers buying one figure, and then getting in line again and buying another figure until nothing was left to buy. they were all looking at the same chinese website app that had a lot of chinese text with a photo of the punk drunkers and goccodo figures booth. I am not sure about refreshment toys.
Please do not harass the asian in the skeletor+ghostbusters shirt. that guy is a Korean asian stuck between the asian flippers. I know because he is me.
This pic is from Curio Con (not Dcon). Curio Con had ONE sofubi booth - Refreshment - and that asian flipper mob did exactly what you described above. Good luck to you @shincartoon. BTW that VIP "get in early" badge is no secret, Dcon has been promoting it on their social media and the flippers are aware. All we can do is harass them, right @3wing ?
@debparis MMMM.... Harassment. just be like, REAL LOUD. When I was in japan, They couldn't get away fast enough.
Real head booth was terrible last year!! I was like what the hell line is this and looked and just noped out.
Was discussing the 5 Points incident with a couple newer collectors at the last DV show. One guy apparently saw members of that mob literally recruiting people off the street to hold spots in line and I don't doubt a word of his story. Considering the drastically cheaper entry price at Dcon, don't be surprised if there's similar shenanigans at play in Pasadena
the VIP ticket is just an attempt to fleece the sofubi fans of some extra money. And sadly, we will all fall in line. There will be shitloads of flippers, but a motley crew of badass toy lovers too. Most of you, this is the only occasion I have to shake hands, nerd out together in person a couple minutes. and that is something no flipper crew can take away from me.
Don't jinx it! But unrelated, can I borrow some money for a coke? I would agree, then pocket the toy.
I wore this shirt to dcon last year and some of the artists liked it. so I decided to wear it again this year hoping they will recognize me as a returning fan. honestly when I look on instagram all asian sofubi collecting dudes look the same.... asian dude, short black hair with glasses... just like me LOL
