30000 yen was a bit pricey , but 80000 .
In the past , Hirota always seemed to want to stop flippers , overpricing , etc.
Hope the 80000 price is not the new "normal" for HxS toys ...

I get what you're saying, that he should be getting paid not Mandarake, and I can agree to an extent but as someone who has admired his work from afar without the funds or luck to ever obtain any of his figures i really really hope it isn't going to be the new norm.
I've been wondering if it was done in an effort to deter flippers, but it's also deterring me from wanting to support HxS.

What's that old saying... "If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em"? The big player flippers are going to eat this shit up... they buy LV and Supreme at ridiculous prices so this is nothing to them. Hirota even just posted there were many applicants for an $800 toy.

I'm sure this is a direct result of meeting "fans" (hypebeasts, cashed up visitors) at the exhibit last year.. Hirota saw there's an opportunity during this current phase and is striking while the iron is hot. Why not, I hold his toys in the same regard as NNN, the quality and charm is there. He deserves it, all power to him... unfortunately though I have no hope financially of picking up my first HxS piece in the future unless a Medicom deal is struck after the hype dies down in a few years.

Looking down the long road this could work out well for all of us... hypothetically, some newer fake-ass makers have been following suit with what the big boys have been doing. Generally their pricing is around $200-$300 USD already, which is already too high for a ripped off sculpt in cheap shitty vinyl. If these newjaccks start thinking well I'm just as good as HxS/Nag I'll raise my price to $700-$800 USD then their sales will evaporate eventually and they will go make a streetwear brand or something. I hate to use a bipcoin phrase, but the sofubi scene will eventually "correct itself".

 

With the new wave of 國王陰莖 Instagram 'buyers' openly offering up $2,000 - $5,000 for old releases via Instaspam . . . they've successfully fucked up the market for all!
