    Yeah!
A little disappointed by the chosen colorways though.

I agree @a.tom . If Zollmen's going with existing colorways, there are some I'd rather have seen too. Kinda surprised they chose 3 of them that have such a similar color palette when there are others to choose from also.

I was hoping for new colors actually. Although, since I don't own the full size version of any of these, it works.

Being a fan of the original sculpt, I'm excited to have a little Maza, but I kinda wish they didn't just shrink it down. The VAG Mad Baron had design changes to the shape, which I tend to prefer when translating a figure from 1 size to another. Ha, although at least this way I know I like it instead of getting something redesigned that I don't care for. Not sure how I'd like a super deformed Mother. Who would?

Maybe there doing these as tribute pieces for ppl that missed out on allot of them in general? Companies tend to do this from time to time at least with other toys besides sofubi. Im sure were going to be getting plenty of new color ways as well once this first wave of new Zollmen Mothers passes. Ether way im excited for these minis as an entry gateway pieces into a much bigger Zollmen collection one day.

This does make me want to hunt down the bigger counterparts now though more! lol

Yeah those are the original first 5 Mazas (unpainted orange prototype, Rumble Monsters black etc etc) that came about, so it makes sense that they offered these first. I've always wanted that Charactics colored version (dark circles around eyes top right) so it might be fun to get a mini version of it. Does anyone know if these will be offered on the Medicom site? The link in the sofvi tokyo blog goes to the company making them but no info on purchasing.

I own that one but never knew it had anything to do with Charactics. Its truly amazing. Could you let me know how they were involved?

Actually I was wrong about the first 5- there was also a Jyarinco Lottery Red and a Rumble Monsters Lottery Blue, but in general these represent some of the earliest releases of Maza/Mother/Disc Monster (Garimpo GID would also be another). Weird they chose that Jyarinco Rainbow colored one (dead center) I always thought that was a one-off gift to the owner of CKA? Or maybe a few of those were made more likely and presented as gifts? It was all just piecing together pics on the web and runs back then lol. I don't claim to be an expert. Maybe another old timer can shed some light?

As far as the Charactics collaboration, I have no inside knowledge of how that came about but I assume that those three shops- Charactics (hawaiian version), Ichibanboshi (lower left corner version), and Rumble Monsters (black version) were pretty big names in the niche neo kaiju industry circa 2009 and were asked to paint their version of Maza.

Early talk of Maza here on SB (we called it everything from Mother to Disc Monster to Flying Saucer Kaiju!):

No clue but all the recent runs of the VAG series were and are still widely available.

    Maza Gacha

Mine's a little sloppy and missing some of the paint apps shown in the promotional image, but I still can't help but to like it.

This was going for a crazy amount of money on m world. Like two grand or something? I love the way it looks but man, I'm getting priced out of this hobby.

Sure, if you buy from flippers then that's pretty likely.

I wish Zollmen would just make toys again instead of riding the hypetrain to moneytown. Somewhat disappointed, not that they care.

Curious WTF is going on with pricing of Mad Barons? Did they suddenly become the hottest commodity in the Zollmen line besides these new Zollbots? If it can be believed one sold for 150000 yen on Mandarake and I've been besieged with offers to sell or trade mine on Instagram (and I know of other people who I've talked to who have the same problem). Now until I'm old and sell my collection I'm never selling mine, in fact I respond to requests with "I'm still looking for 6 more!"

Not trying to be naive but this hobby in general is well out of hand!

Agreed, my collecting of Japanese toys has decreased dramatically because of it. I'm hoping the deep pockets brigade will get bored at some point and start chasing something else . . . but if there is big money to be be made flipping, its unlikely it will be anytime soon.

Well if it is new people with deep pockets (which seems the case at times but I'm saying that for sure) I'm glad I got the few years jump on them and could get some now hyped toys when they were affordable!
