Just saw this pop up on Netflix tonight. Hadn't heard of it before and since it's an original I guess this is the premiere. It's labeled as Part 1 but at 1.5 hours long it is full movie length. Animated in the same dynamic/realistic style as the other Netflix produced anime I've seen. Dark backgrounds, bright colors with lots of cell shading so it looks slick but almost fake at the same time. Just started it a few minutes ago. Hope it doesn't suck!

It focused waaaaaay too much on the human peoples drama crap and for the most part Godzilla was really underutilized but...

If you watch to the end the last 10 minutes make the entire movie worth it. I was disappointed up until the last few minutes and then I got really happy! Also there is a short after credits scene.

(Edit* - I typed my response in the wrong area initially.) :

Lol, I'll watch it then. Maybe part 2 will be much better and will utilize Godzilla more?

I got to see this in the theater this past November while visiting Japan. It was crazy to be watching a Godzilla movie in Japan. My soda was even in a souvenir cup with Godzilla topper! Haha. I enjoyed the movie even though I couldn’t understand what was being said. It’ll be nice to watch it again in English and on my couch.

I just noticed there's also a Devilman Netflix OG. Anyone seen it?

That Godzilla CGI animation looks fucking terrible. If they went traditional with it or full 2D via computer I'd have no issue but they decide to utilize the 3D in a rather cheesy not very watchable manner. They did that shit with Berserk and it ruined it for me as well.

I started it and stopped because of this. It's more about the people and not Godzilla. I'll have to finish it so i can see what your talking about. I was excited to see this on there and slowly lost interest as the show went on.

Have yet to watch Godzilla but halfway through Devilman Crybaby and wow - what a trip! Love the loose, almost wonky animation. Quite gruesome, lots of bouncing boobs, cool soundtrack too.

Yup same problem I had but again I think the end made it all worth it. You could even just fast forward to the last 15 minutes.

The last 20 minutes were the best. It's a very long build up but was worth it. I'll most likely watch the next one when it comes out to see where it goes.

I'm not a fan of this style anime but I did enjoy the story. Those hover bikes were pretty cool. The way they moved and the look of it, I really liked. I didn't read anything about this anime so I wasn't expecting it to be set in the future. Still not a fan of this style Godzilla either (I love the look of the 70's and earlier versions) but I try to not let that detract from the story.

Devilman was really interesting. Not at all what I expected, but then having never really watched any Devilman, I wasn't sure what to expect. At one point, I was thinking "WTF...."

Part 2 of the netflix original Godzilla anime is streaming now.

Haven't seen it yet so I have no idea if it's better than part 1 which sucked until the end, which was pretty amazing.

Hope this one actually has some Godzilla in it!

Hopefully part 1 was just build up/character development and part 2 is all bad ass. That said, an hour and 30 is way too much build up. Who knows, I'll eventually watch it.

I watched Part 2 last night. It was alright. I enjoyed it but it’s not mind blowing. In fact the pacing was very similar to the first.

Mechagodzilla was in the movie supposedly. The idea was pretty cool where it was originally made of nanomaterial and after 20,000 years it developed into a massive structure that could be rebuilt BUT it’s still not a monster robot by any means.

The very last word from the post credits scene definitely sold Part 3 for me although I would watch it anyway probably.

I thought the main dude and main girl were siblings in Part 1!?! Must’ve missed something.

Just finished part 2, I like part 1 better. From the end credits scene of part 2, part 3 looks promising.

I don't have my hopes up. Seems like it will be more story development about the people who still reside in the planet. But I haven't watched it yet so it's all speculation.

Part three just came out on netflix. I think it's the end of the entire series. I enjoyed it more than the other two but again it's mostly story stuff with a touch of Godzilla near the end. I loved the villain this time though!

It was okay. King G was kind of a neat version. Lots of interesting ideas that fail to deliver.

Boy, did these stink. I was hoping at some point that a monster would actually fight another monster (or a monster-sized robot) but I guess that was too much to ask for.

Just finished Part 3. This was definitely an improvement over the others, although obviously it builds off of the previous ones. It was an okay series overall.

    Random spoilery thoughts:
    - That sequence with Ghidorah and the spaceship was cool. "There are no life signs on the bridge! Does that mean we're dead?"
    - This movie was dark. Barely any characters survived in the end, except for awesome-hair science guy.
    - The main girl from the previous films was DOA in this one.
    - Both of the alien species in this series had other plans for mankind, assimilation or death. Don't trust aliens.
