It's fucking sad that keeping kids safe in schools has even become a partisan issue...

 

Fuck people who are obsessed with putting guns in school. I get that people have gun fetishes. But when you refuse to even consider alternative steps and measures of protection/security and only want guns in school, then you are deeply disturbed.
Here in shit hole KY: one school, one guy, one gun... let's respond with over 1200 guns placed in schools, in citizens hands who are continuously over stressed, over worked, and under appreciated.

Have we tried metal detectors? Clear backpacks? More thorough screening when entering? Police officers? Comprehensive health and mental health care? See...none of these ideas even hint at gun control or taking your beloved firearms. What an incredibly reckless idea.

Had a woman in a conversation respond that doing the same failed things over an over again is reckless. I replied asking her how she can honestly disregard/ignore all of the things I just said? It's either do nothing or put guns in school? She then replied that she was done with this nonsense. So apparently engaging in rational, intelligent discourse is nonsense to "these people." Oh wait, we already knew that.

Another person said when seconds matter, police are minutes away. So after ignoring the response of "why not place police in the school," he ignored the fact that it will take more than seconds for that teacher to be armed, unless the teacher is always carrying...which is also a fucking horrible idea.
So, fuck you if you are dumb enough, or simply disturbed enough, to want a teacher to have a gun locked in a box somewhere in the school, acting as a school marshal. I'm sure that will stop a school shooter

 

Saw on FB someplace . . . Is 47 year old Mrs Johnson who teaches English Lit. really going to be physically and mentally prepared to put two in the chest and one in the head of a 14 year old that's been put in her care? . . . and who pays if she misses/takes out the wrong person by mistake/goes postal herself!

 

When my depression was at my worst, my school didn't know where to put me. We had the regular classes, aka mainstream classes.... I couldn't be there because I couldn't keep up with coursework, and the school had to protect me from being bullied. We then had the Alternative Learning Program, which was mainstream coursework in a smaller, more focused class... usually 2-6 kids a class. I couldn't be in there because my sulking was too much of a distraction. We had a program for intellectually disabled kids... I obviously didn't belong there. Then there was a program called CORE which was basically for kids that needed IEPs. It became a catch-all for the kids that didn't belong anywhere else. The severely bullied, those with anger issues, those with mild disabilities, those with autism, all kinds of kids were placed there. Arguably, if there was to be a "school shooter" type, they would have ended up in that classroom. The things I saw in that classroom were disturbing. Even though there were aides trained in physical restraint, you couldn't just slam a kid on the floor. One of the kids with autism flew into a rage at one point, and lifted an entire desk above his head, threatening to slam it down over our 60-something year old teacher's head. Thankfully he was talked down and put down the desk, but do you think a kid in a rage would hesitate to wrestle a gun from a teacher? Some of these kids had no fear of consequence whatsoever.
I was scared of the violence of that class even without guns, so much so that I transferred into the ALP the moment I was well enough to sit through a class without sulking.
Add guns, and you just provide more opportunity for these crazy kids.

 

If arming teachers is even a consideration, then we have failed as a society.

 

My sister, aunt, and cousin are all teachers. I can tell you right now they didn't get into teaching because they wanted to walk around with a gun strapped to their hip. bad idea...

Police on the other hand.

 

There are already 9 states that have armed faculty in schools. Is that the answer, I don’t know. Metal detectors are not the answer, someone hell bent on taking lives is just going to walk through and start shooting. Police in the building are not the answer either, Most of the time they are sitting at a desk at the main entrance, so once the shooter walks through before mentioned metal detectors, first kill. Ex-military might be a better idea, way more training in situations like this, and what I mean is an active shooter situation. It also comes down to who has the balls to pull the trigger.

Why not a bulletproof door that bolts closed.

I want a Sig Sauer 556 but it's a bit to expensive for me lol. It would just be a last resort weapon and a mantel piece anyways.

Besides I normally carry an 8 inch combat blade with me for protection when I bicycle at night. Is it illegal for me to carry one? Sure as fuck is but id rather have something with reach if I need it. And it fits on my military backpack fine without obstruction like a bat would.

As far as on the topic with this shit in the classroom it shouldn't be needed. Wasnt when I was attending school.

She was captured via surveillance footage meeting a man thought to be Bayraktar near a rail station in Osaka; the two are shown entering the apartment building in Higashinari Ward connected to the "confinement" charge against Bayraktar.

She is not seen leaving the building, but Bayraktar is, a number of times, with sources telling the Asahi Shimbun he allegedly had a large bag with him on several of those occasions.

The Tokyo Reporter says no blood or other indications of a crime have been found at that apartment, with the Japan Times adding that a lot of air freshener had been used."

And that's the article in a nut shell. It's not a school shooting but this is probably even more sick.

 

Technically, it does take a "sicker" person to carve someone up than commit a shooting... When you kill someone with a gun, there is distance between you and the victim, and you're killing someone via a tool. You are simply pressing a trigger, and the bullet is doing the killing. Meanwhile when you're using a knife, it's a lot more personal. You're getting blood on yourself, you're using your own strength to do the stabbing.

I don't think you can ever really stop someone who wants to cause harm to others. Look at the most recent attacks with nothing more than a vehicle or even just a knife. If some broken person wants to hurt strangers you can't stop them. Anytime you are standing in line at a grocery store or gas station the person behind you in line can end your life without you ever even knowing what happened. The only real way to help is to limit the damage any one individual can cause. A kid with a knife in a school wouldn't be able to kill 17 people. A guy in a hotel room in Vegas couldn't kill 59 people without assault rifles and bumpstocks to create automatic weapons.

More often than anyone wants to admit we as humans are at each others mercy. So it just makes sense that none of us as individuals should have the ability to kill 20 or 60 or 100 people in a matter of minutes all by ourselves.

Without kicking off the 'that's racist!' diatribe and more a statement of fact . . . s'funny how many of these douchenozzles all seem to hail from China and HK, have similar online naming and posting conventions, show very similar (flavour of the week) toy pictures along with generic nothingness and seem to have shown up at almost the same time . . . needy OCD collectors or buying cartel?

 

You do wonder. There are definitely big networks of flippers in Asia with relationships to some of the guys you see flexing hard on IG, but there has to be demand for those guys to even exist. Another side might be that sofubi is becoming a weird status symbol, with guys hyping the shit out of the artist of the week/month/year because they're willing to pay stupid money for the stuff and flippers go where the money is

Just found out a job I interviewed for two weeks ago rejected me because of my visa status. They emailed about the next interview round confirming that I was in, then asked if I'd need sponsorship any time in future and I said yes, in like 33 months, which I assumed is enough time to prove to a company worth tens of billions of dollars to decide whether they want to sponsor one asshole. Got a reply in minutes saying I was out, very sorry, best of luck with your job search. Not a word about this before the first interview, which I spent way too much time prepping for and dropped prior commitments at school and work to make.

The amount of anxiety I'm going through as I try to stay in the USA, mostly just so I can support my partner after I graduate, is kind of unreal.
