Where does it say that? I'm now getting a 403 - Forbidden Error generic error screen. No updates on social channels either..
Dcon social media has been promoting today's ticket sale for weeks - I got two emails today from them - and their site can't even handle the traffic. I hope this isn't a foreshadowing of other unpreparedness to come, like how they'll be unable to handle this year's bigger lines and lottery queues each day.
@debparis their servers couldn't handle the hype. I had a bad feeling when they were pushing the tix sales hard. designercon Sorry everyone due to high traffic our hosting company took our site down we should be back at 230pm. " I'm not the only one who took time from work to sit here. This is terrible.
Yup, me too. I try not to complain on the boards buuut...come on!...coordinate with your web host in advance if you're expecting thousands of visitors to your website!
I don't think we should be too concerned about VIP tickets selling out. I think it'll be ok guys. woooo-saaaaaah @Mecha glad to see you will be visiting the other coast!!! SEE YOU SOON!!!
Rex Manning day! classic And....oh that's right, the payment gateway is on a different server - guess they didn't think about that either...oh boy.
See y'all tomorrow..... designer con First we would like to apologize for the inconvenience on the ticket sales today. Due to technical difficulties we are postponing the sale until tomorrow at 1pm pst just to be fair for everyone. Swipe left for a message directly from Ben. We love you and thank you guys for being here and showed us massive amount of love today.
Vendor Map is up! See me there in booth 834 next to Sunguts/BlobPus and Max Toy! https://www.expocad.com/host/fx/designercon/18desie/exfx.html#exhibitors
Here is a booth price breakdown of the past few years for comparison. I'm guessing the price jump between 2015 and 2017 was all about demand. Last year there was a pretty long wait list for people wanting booths. 2018 booths are $600 regular, $700 sounds right for corner. 2017 were $500 regular, $550 corner, $250 smaller booth in 3rd room. 2016 I don't know prices because we didn't try to get a booth. 2015 were $250 or $300. Also, I will have a horde of people with VIP badges getting bearbrick, just so I can resell them at my booth. If you miss out on VIP status, I probably have you covered
Looks to be a good show, although the floor is huge. Hopefully everything works out for everyone. we'll see how busy it is. I will say, it is a bummer that it's so widespread, but I'm sure the amount of vendors more than makes up for it. Gotta make sure to try to meet everybody from the boards.
Just booked our hotel. We'll be at the Red Lion Resort across the street. It was $95 per night on Priceline name your own price, if anyone is shopping and doesn't want to pay >$150+ for the Hyatt. See you in 99 days!
man.. I'm excited about this dcon growth but also worried after last years frustrations.. Like what @animator was saying, after watching sdcc grow to what it is, it makes me nervous for what dcon will become. I appreciate his banning of pop vinyl, from funko proper.. resellers aside, and the chevy metal thing is cool if you're into that I guess, but it'll never get back to my favorite year; 2015. When toymakers like RxH came in, but it was still possible to actually buy from Mori-san. More people is great, for Ben etc, but to sofubi makers can only make and bring so many toys, and nobody can really do anything about last years flipper issues. Last year, personally bummed me out, I hope this year is better with all of the growth and hype. I'll be there, I'll be the grumpy one talking about 2015
@DrMadness then you would have loved 2014, it was the first year the Japanese vendors came out to Dcon but it was more of a quiet surprise. There was RxH, SkullToys, Punk Drunkers, Uamou....they were setup in that first ballroom and the toys supply lasted all weekend for the most part. Each morning there were a dozen or so people at the booth to buy stuff asap, other than that no mobs, no lottos, it was great.
