Very cool, thanks Andy. I can only imagine the lottery entry frustration in Japan, with such a concentrated population. (and here I think it is tough!) Always still fun to enter nevertheless of course, and the anticipation during the seemingly endless wait! :) Like those old mailaway promotions.

Funny bit about the Star Wars sticker - I bought two full boxes of Bikkuriman chocolate wafer biscuits. (24 packs per box.) I'm telling you - after a few of those things, you don't want to look at them anymore. I wound up building a couple of Close Encounters mounds and giving them away. And they were a BIG hit! So, win-win, and by not eating too many, I was able to avoid paying tribute to the porcelain goddess.

Ha, that reminds me of the Frito-lay offer for the mail in Obi-wan 'force ghost.' Blech! The amount of potato chips I forced myself to eat over that promotion, which were, believe me, not good at all. You might not think it, but it was a chore; and one I had to approach out of routine to even get past. Which is probably why it sticks in my mind so clearly.

Not to mention the many [many] boxes of terrible cereal I would insist my mom would buy back in the day for the prize, only to have them build up in the pantry or basement. Why oh why were they always the most terrible (to children) cereal selections?! (I am looking in your direction, Shreddies!)

@andy Thank you very much for all the information, I was intrigued by the number 3. I imagine going to the candy store and see the cardboard with all those figures stuck on the wall ...

@Alebrije - That Megalon is an interesting puzzle. Anybody know exactly what it is?

Ah, one of my favourite colour schemes! :) This seems to be very similar to the standard version of the figure - which is more of a teal/green paint n the flesh vinyl, but - at least as it appears in these shots - this is the royal blue version. {I have seen some odd photo artifacts and colours, but this might be stretching it.} The standard is hard enough to find these days, among the other Toho figures, so I am not surprised at the end price. I thought I had seen a reissue in somewhat similar paint scheme, but I might have been thinking of the M1 version, which is more like the standard. I know Brian covered this guy in the Super7 mag Issue 14 (page 54 for any readers out there), but there wasn't another version listed there which might match this guy.

This guy looks to be in amazing condition for a vintage toy. Not sure what the story is, or if maybe it is a repaint or something. As an outside chance I might suggest weird paint oxidation, but given how clean he is, that doesn't seem to be the case here. Maybe a bootleg or later Enterprise release? The seller seemed to suggest something about the vinyl being softer than usual, so this might support a re-release or boot of some kind. Really interesting, thanks for sharing, Roger.

That's an odd Megalon...wasn't aware of that color scheme either. Baffled by the price...

@ultrakaiju @Sanjeev - I'm inclined to think it's a repaint, but the "softer than usual" vinyl sounds very bootleg to me. Would love to see this one up close. Either way, I like the paint job and it looks great.

Although the painting work is very neat, I feel it is a lot of money for an 80's bootleg painted in this era. I would still enjoy having one in my shelf.

Indeed, you might remember somebody paid over 20,000 yen last year for what I believe is a Bandai reissue that was repainted to look like the Hawaiian Megalon.

Damn, that is a hefty price, but what a spectacular figure. Feel free to share more pics with us when he arrives, Mark. ;)

Some very nice figures by the same seller. Does any one know the name of the critter on the bottom photo? Shame about the scratch on the left eyeball. The Mognezun is super spiffy, and still has his magnet!

Carly (I guess this is the accepted romanization) Seijin from Ultraman Leo. There are 6 kaiju figures from this line and I guess they are considered 'rare', coming from the tail-end of Bullmark's run (although they were apparently sold in Hawaii, in addition to Japan). Fortunately for us commoners, Bullmark recently produced very nice reissues of all 6 figures.

Thank you Daniel! The translators kept describing him as "Curly", he's more like spikey :)

I didn't realize there was a vintage Gorosaurus without red spines and a white belly (learned something new!). Couldn't find that color on Club Tokyo.

Grace, it's the Marusan cream-belly (or tan belly) variant, which is the rarest (of course). Here is the Club Tokyo link.

Wow!:shock::shock: Thanks Mark! I was looking in the Bullmark "aisle". I still remember Mr. Flynn relaying his story about a recurring nightmare, that he'd dash about the toy store and fill his arms with all the grail toys he wanted, but just as he was walking up to the cash register, he'd wake up, so he couldn't bring them home!
