Yeah I think that was the case. Yesterday there seemed to be as many people as there are today so far.

Very psyched about my haul! Got some real gems this year. The King Peanut is my favorite. Luke really knocked it out of the park, especially with its color/marbling. Love it so much.

How did the MVH stuff go down? I saw the rules and stuff but didn't really pay close enough attention to figure it all out. Did it make things go really smooth?

the mvh que took a while but only because rich is a stand up guy and was chatting with everyone and since the line was posted beforehand you didnt have to stick at his booth the whole time

It seems like lots of the big popular booths ran of of stuff early on Saturday but friends at the small booths are all saying their own sales are pretty much shit. I wonder if the bigger venue is hurting the little guys since it's hard to get around and see everything there is. Lots of people are just heading from one specific booth to another and another but ignoring most of everything else. As a customer it does seem a lot less stressful though.

It definitely feels like the everyday people that would come to Pasadena to just look aren’t here. A lot of my friends that don’t collect anything that have came every year just because, didn’t come at all. They know what a hassle it is to come down to Anaheim so they totally avoided it. It’s a bummer.

Yeah, from an outside perspective, when I learned last year it was going to be in Anaheim my immediate thought was, "This is going to turn into SDCC," and I just can't handle that vibe. In 2015 we went last minute for Saturday only, actually probably spent four hours there. We stayed overnight the next year, and two nights last year, and it got exponentially busier, and harder to get anything we wanted. That's no fun in my book.

Still sounds like a grand time was had by many! Myself, fat on my couch in the Mitten, am very happy to have just learned that the 2 wee toys that I was after were successfully landed for me by a generous attendee.

Well, as anyone that knows me could assume, I would have loved a swing at all things Buta that the Gargamel crew might have brought, too, but I never expected anything. I still don't even know if toys by my pet maker were even sighted this year, ha! Reports, anyone?

They got smarter and are in pairs or singles. Obvious big group was too obvious. Ran into pairs and singles sprinkled in the crowd.

^ well they didn't get in the way of things i was trying to buy except at the rxh pd booths.

The venue change this year made it seem like a more official toy con, im not sure if its the nature of sofubi but i was shocked, and felt sort of bad, to see blobpus hardly selling anything, along with sunguts. Retroband even had meats/tomb available through the day too which was sort of surprising

I don’t know what else to say, other than I literally couldn’t have personally had a better DCon. I’m so thankful and appreciative for this entire weekend.

That makes sense. Seems like casual fans/customers are pushed out and the more involved collectors are being embraced. Doesn't make sense to spend tons of money on an overpriced hotel and the VIP ticket just to browse stuff or buy cheap toys. More likely you are going after stuff you can't get otherwise if you are spending that much money just to be there.

Again though it does make it easy on people buying things. Room to walk around and tons of great non-hyped toys that are super easy to get. I bet a lot of people who had booths this year won't bother next year though.

The best part of DCON for me was the chance to talk to the artists, reconnect with friends, and meet new ones. I learned so much this year, but haha i think I say that every year. The toys were incredible and I saw so many that blew my mind. The new venue took some getting used to, and I have to admit I was lost half of the time. I probably also missed some of the show, being focused on certain booths and simply running out of time. I had trepidation about the move to Anaheim, but overall it was a great experience. The list is too long to thank everyone for the time spent and generous effort to make 2018 an unforgettable experience.

First DCON for me, and I have to say overall the experience was pretty awesome. I was able to buy most of the toys that I wanted, and more importantly meet the artists that made the toys. Also got to meet a few internet friends, and made new friends while waiting in line.

I do have to say though the damn resellers that was using multiple proxies / vendor badge to cut lines is a shame. Being Asian myself I had to stand in line and listen to them ( speaking in Chinese ) talk up their game plan while already holding multiplies of the most desirable toys. One of them even acted like nothing was wrong when he got called out by another person in line at the refreshment toy booth for using multiple proxies, saying we were doing 1:1 line swaps, whats wrong with that? and that " the artist did not complain "

I would totally volunteer my time to stop people like this in the future. I did see some of them that got stopped by the staff that was keeping the line in order from the RxH/punkdrunkers/goccodo. I know its probably impossible to stop all of them, but 1 denied is another chance for the regular fans to have a chance to buy something.

I think the fact that Medicom had the giant booth with a ton of artists took the focus of a lot of hype collectors away from the smaller booths in ways. There were always lines at the Medicom area for when an artist happening was going to be on or for when they were releasing limited items. That with the fact that the amount of space that was available was amazing; having walking spaces that were easily twice as wide as the Pasadena location had meant that when there WERE line-ups at booths happening, they had enough breathing room that a neighboring booth wasn't crowded out by said line.

The layout did get kind of confusing to be honest, but I think with time more and more people will get used to it. To be honest there is space to still put more booths in DCon as some spots were pretty sparse or filled with giant displays (like the T-Rex or Mr. Cartoon's car). It's a real mixed bag in ways. I was busy on Friday, but a bunch of the people I talked to say Saturday was far slower and Sunday picked up again. Nonetheless, I'll be back next year as well. I had a great time seeing lots of people, finally meeting some of y'all in person, and meeting new friends as well.
