I’ve poured marble myself, too, as well as seein’ some of the best marbles we know get poured. There unquestionably is a certain degree of skill, twist and turn to the various ways it can be done with particular outcomes. It’s very easy to fuck up and just muddy and mix colors. Marbling itself I guess can be considered as easy as flipping a burger, but if you want that burger to taste good, you gotta know what you’re doin’.

Frankly, I don't know what is the big deal with poured marbling and that the trend managed to stay on for years by now.
Hand-painted marbling, on the other hand, is real artisan,

Personally I'm a fan--it can bring out details on a sculpt that are less obvious on a regular blank, and randomly streaked vinyl in the pour can produce an amazing effect. But I know I started during the trend.

Single colour vinyl can be poured back out of the mold, recycled and used again but marbled can't, so I guess there's an element of wastage . . . but it seems crazy to retail at more than painted versions of the same sculpt.

Marbled scraps, mispulls, sloppy looking wonky pulls, can all be cut up and reused/recycled. Granted residual pulls will be (perhaps) rough looking but fine for painted versions, test shots etc.

Original Gorilla Jyu in produce bags were sold at half the current retail for the mini HXS. Now the standard size dolls are sold over 5X the original prices.

That has very little to do with fans other than those who can afford these prices. Even at highest retail price, someone will pay more, only and just because they can.

Over time that concept really seems to have influenced the methods and steady increase in price points more than any actual production costs.

HXS is a brand, and a business. The results are from what success developed from both retail and aftermarket prices of the products sold.

Not a bad thing, per say, just not as interesting as the first few years in that the magic is obfuscated, while there was a mystery at first.

Retail prices have little to do with actual costs at this point and much to to with perception of value.

In that HXS is not unique.

True but not true. If I order marbled figures I also request that the ‘waste’ (the mixed up material poured from the mold) get used to make figures as well. So, really, no waste at all. There’s a reason they make paint - many original vintage releases were just different paints on the same base vinyl (e.g. flesh) - if you’re not a picky customer, there’s no raw vinyl that is actually ever really ‘waste.’

I have never been able to enter any of the HxS lotteries, apparently I arrived very late at the HxS scene, but I wanted to share with you my first Gorilla Ju (and I hope it will not be the last) I was lucky to acquire it from a great collector and pick it up personally which makes it more special for me. Thank you very much to the person who made all this possible.

Well damn Roger, as classic as it comes with that colour scheme, and a real beauty. No hype, no jazz, just plain ol' toy appreciation. Congratulations on getting a figure which seems like a lot of fun, and I have no doubt you will appreciate. And of course it stands to mention a thank you to the person who helped out, as it shows there is still a good community of folks out there, just willing to share the love, behind all the 'modern glamour' of the scene.

@Alebrije - Congratulation on the gorgeous ape adoption, Roger. The metallic sprays and red eyes/mouth are a perfect tribute to the vintage Marusan Giant Gorilla.

Congrats on the score Rodger! This is one of my favorite versions. "I've always had a thing for green nipples."

I was excited for this until I saw this full reveal. It looks like he took the head off of another Rat Fink inspired toy and just plopped it on the body. The textures are nice, but it clashes with the body to my eyes, and it looks a little too big for the body in my opinion. I also think it was a bad aesthetic choice to lose the glasses. I can't say I'm not excited, just not fully. The right colors could take it for me. This will probably not at all be easily obtainable, nor will it fall majority into the hands of people that even collect or know what fight figures are.

I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. Definitely has nothing on the OG head to me. I do like they went with traditional Rat Fink colors on the skin and trunks, though.

Edit: I should’ve stated that I do like the head sculpt a lot! For some reason, though, just not on this fighter body. As always, I’m subject to change my mind once I see one in person!

What's up with this steady stream of Finkshits appearing pretty much every day on Manda for the past week or two.. seems too staggered to be a single collector dumping their collection right?

Not too out of the realm. That’s how it usually happens the last few times I’ve seen it. Either one or two go up, or a bunch go up. Plus, with the recent influx of rebirthed Ed Roth styled toys between Knuckle and BlackBook, might just be an easy sell, not that Fink Shit has ever had trouble selling.

Actually it does seem like a collection dump and M being smart enough to sprinkle them out.

Thank you guys for your words @ultrakaiju, @deafmetal; I am really happy with this new adoption, the truth is that this figure it’s more beautiful in person than what is seen in the photos, the sculpture has many details and the vinyl feels very heavy and of great quality. It is also an honor to have a piece of the person who entrusted it to me, probably the person who has most influenced me as a collector, I know he is a big fan of Star Wars and I know that here there are also true fans of the saga so I hope you will not be offended by my analogy but it is like having received something from my Jedi master, he has always been willing to share with me his collection, his knowledge and has helped me a lot to be able to make purchases in YJP, so I have nothing more to express my gratitude.

So did anyone here win the new IG lottery? I’m not actually sure if he picked winners yet, but he took down the lottery info several days ago.

$800 for a four legged toy that will take up the display space of four awesome $40 M1-GO toys? Hmmm I'll pass
