    "Properly" meaning "sideways", I assume.

Because some folks feel like if you can laugh at something, you can help take away its power.

That’s debatable.. You are still recognizing a negative thing, in turn giving it attention or “power”.. If people want them, that’s fine.

    Not for me though.

Even rebellion becomes an aesthetic to sell, a toy to buy ;) no winning

What a sorry state of affairs the world is in, with people “rebelling” by buying Donald Trump dolls..

I believe that if you're doing something transformative with the subject matter, especially for the purpose of satire, then you're giving that negative thing a different kind of recognition. I put The Onion, Mel Brooks movies, and Make America Play Thing's Lil' Prezzy sofubi all in the same satirical category.

There are levels to everything though. Retroband made a toy that was a literal pile of shit with Trump's head on it and sold a tons of them but every person who bought one was allowed to pick from a list of charities that would get the money. Those charities were supporting things that he himself was destroying like planned parenthood and things the EPA used to try and protect instead of attack like reversing climate change and saving various animal species rather than hunting them for sport. So the toy itself sitting on a shelf was a reminder of helping someone do something positive despite the state the world is in at the moment.

Yup, I’m totally aware of that, and good on him for actually doing something positive with the proceeds. That doesn’t change my mind on wanting said toy in my collection.

Like I said, if people want them, fine. Just not for me.

who started this whole 5-off 20-off thing? i thought one-off was the only time you needed that lil “off”. like its either 1/1 or a run, aint it?

I’m guilty of liking it too... but I’m at a point in collecting where my space is limited, and “like” isn’t good enough anymore.

    It's just a rip-off of a recent Atom A colourway right?

The first time I heard of 'Micro-runs' was via Mori and RxH back in the day.

Unfortunately it quickly got 'adopted' (ripped-off) by Western artists who saw it as a way to do less and charge more, then re-adopted by the Japanese and now the Chinese.

No idea, haven’t been following releases for months. I just like sharks. (Probably why I love Jetturre so much...)

I always thought that was a kind of Burning Godzilla-esque tribute.. Could be wrong though.

Hmm I can say for sure, but didn’t BEMON do this as well around the same time ? Micro run that is.

I wouldn’t say ripped off, just adopted as it mass more sense to categorize it this way.

I think many of the well known makers did runs in sizes of 40-50 while the smaller brands did what they could, say 10-15 etc. It sort of became known as a regular sized run and the smaller became micro runs. Like standard sized toys are 9” and then micro sized and full sized fit in accordingly.

Either way, categorizing it helped give it structure.

I do agree some new makers use it as a way to make more money. But it’s just the nature of the beast. Any time someone sees cash they want to jump on and cash in. Usually though that won’t work for long. What they don’t understand is that it took time for the makers to earned those prices.

Okay.. So, please stop me if I'm wrong here..

Not only is this thing uglier than hell but bears striking, resemblance to a number of BlobPus toys with zero of the charm. Does anyone else see it? Or am I just crazy..

That thing has a lot of junk in the trunk, jeez. If I had to try to salvage this... thing, I’d carve off the smooth parts on the sides of the head, unelongate the back of the head a bit, and get rid of that absolutely hideous ass.
But yeah, looks like a weird bastardization of a Blobpus/fight figure from the front of this.
I sort of like the honeycomb pattern on the head, but besides that, there really aren’t any redeeming qualities... not something I’d ever consider buying.

all i could gather about this; its made by a collector, but not drawn or sculpted by her. and kind of seems like she gave the digital sculpter references from her collection to base this new creation off of.
