TkoM's work is a piece of art to me.
He is a real artist and has his own understanding of sculpture, color & design.
So happy to see how he puts his thoughts into soft vinyl toys.
I am so honored to have both Gamaotoko#6 and Demogorgon#3. These two are born to be together with perfect color match!

The new Gamaotoko#9 is so beautiful, as always!

Look forwards to seeing more of TkoM's future releases!

Beautiful photos; I've actually never seen Demo #3 and Gama #6 together like that before, the match is excellent indeed

I'd originally stood in line for a Gamaotoko at their NYCC debut(at least I think it was the debut), but was one person too late. Since then, like most everything else, hype beasts pumped up the secondary market prices to the point of disinterest. However, this one was presented to me, and directly after, offered as a gift. So my first, and probably only, is pretty special. I also love this version 'cause it reminds me of the Golgothan from Dogma.

@xSuicide Squadx that has to be the best photo of any Gamaotoko I've seen. The high gloss on the body is magnificent and I have no idea how your setup reproduced each colour so well.

I wanted to share some photos of the Demogorgon #3 and Gamaotoko #9 pair I recently put together. Link to the imgur album here, and here are two of my favourites :)

Thanks so much, @zindabad! The way I handle my photos and process, is to pretty much portray them how I see them with my own eyes! There’s a lot of deep colors in the version I have, so the contrasting was important to me, as well as being able to highlight that brown base vinyl.

The Demogorgon is a pretty gorgeous figure, though I’ve yet to see one in person. I’m afraid it’s gotten to the point of being a little too rich for my blood, even on a retail level.

What do you guys think of the new vintage style doublethink sofubi?

personally I loved the original doublethink, and was not sure if I can love a remake but I actually like the new one. it feels like what a Tkom figure would of looked like in the 70s. The pink color shirt looks nice with the purple body.

head looks great on this body too.

Well I always wanted to be able to move both heads so this version is really cool in that regard.

The Neo version stylistically similar to sculptures he's been producing, while the old doublethink feels more cartoonish/cute. I wonder if they'll look good together side by side or just out of place.

Also the price of Neo vs the original is quite a gap

Does anyone know what "YHVH" stands for?

The price difference really stands out, yeah. Hoping Gama/Demo still get some playtime this year, since I don't really want a Doublethink. Doubt we'll get an update on the double snake-headed guy, but I can dream.

What was the price? Obviously late to the game, and I personally prefer the first sculpt.

50k yen or so I think? I'm a little sad because the first version was his most affordable toy at retail and the new one is his least.

Yeah I'm sure he'll continue to produce demo and gama - at least I hope so since I'm hoping to get a chance to add them to my collection one day.

I hope he makes that two headed girl too - I like that sculpt quite a bit.

You think TKOM is following Hirota's footsteps and slowly jacking up the retail price of his releases?

I bet he quit the old doublethink because it was produced by TAG. You can bet for sure prices will keep going up, as long as there's enough people coughing up.

I did notice the change in production, yeah. Gama and Demo were pretty solid at 35k last year if I remember right and I just hope they stay there. Much higher and I'll have to stop entering most of them.

I'm not really a fan of the new doublethink, which is disappointing because I love everything else he has made. I put an earlier version of the digital sculpt below to compare a few things. The heads mainly, are a lot bigger on the digital version. The torso might be a tiny bit narrower too. Overall I find the proportions a lot more appealing on the image below. I do still prefer the first doublethink toy. In terms of aesthetics, the first fits in better with his other works.

I don't think we can compare him to HxS and others in terms of raised prices. Tkom is better known as an artist than toy maker(which brings up the age old debate of art vs. toy). Coming from the art world it makes sense for his prices to rise based on demand/popularity.

That's true the CV on his website describes himself as an artist more so than a toy maker.

I totally agree that the first fits in better with his other works. But I do give credit to the fact that he went out of his style and tried his character on the nostalgic sofubi toy style. although I do think he may have went too much out of his style though.... my first thought when I saw the early reveal was it is missing the melted chin and now has lower teeth. I always thought that the melted chin with no teeth was a big part of the successful doublethink design. oh well. I do like the finished product of the new doublethink. It will be interesting to see if he will try any of his other characters in the nostalgic sofubi proportions.

I really like TKom stuff--i don't think there is anything that I have seen that I don't like--as far as sculpts. I didn't apply for this release because of the price. I like the new version, but I have to LOVE the colorway to come up with that kind of money. Plus, now I know what he's asking, so I will just have to save up and hope I win the version I want if/when that happens. It would be great to own a piece or three and check out a show of his.

I'd love to see a re-imagined demogorgon and gamaotoko, too!

The original doublethink is my favorite sofubi, so obviously this new sculpt doesn't quite live up to it for me. Something about the proportions; they're both goofy in different ways but this new one is a bit more blocky which is not something I'm a fan of. Obviously I still like the piece quite a bit. Just not enough to want to shell out almost 500$ for it. I hope the people who win it will really appreciate it! And I'll keep on hoping that we someday see his dragon character in sofubi.

He forced TAG to stop selling them because they weren't going for as much as he thought they were worth on the secondary market and he wanted to push his own version which he owns 100% of.

Wait wait wait.. what now? Artists having a preconceived idea of what their toys should sell for in the secondary market and flatlining a cool sculpt because it didn't reach the level of inflation they wanted?

This hobby always continues to surprise me. I thought TAG owned the projects they collab with artists on.. how could an artist force TAG to kill a project? I prefer the TAG version much more than this new one.
