I found the Voltron Lion above at a boot sale and then the same day, halfway across the city, i find this gem. I never find Voltron stuff and then i find two in the same day! - Its one of a set of three released by Matchbox / Bandai in 1984. Apparently Matchbox got rid of the firing fists and extra weapons that the original Japanese version had. Cost me £1, which is ridiculous - I wonder where his buddies ended up? Voltron II Deluxe Gladiator (Gamma Robo) The set it came from . . .
Found the red baron last weekend. 50p at a boot sale. Played with condition, but still presentable. Flying Bug - Mini Ha Ha - Red Baron
'Chicco' sports car for toddlers. Very elaborate for a chunky toy for little kids. It has 'locking' doors, pop-up headlights, a working steering wheel and when you move it back an forth it makes a nice clicking noise and the red and blue 'pistons' go up and down. Cost me £1 at a boot sale. Made in Italy (11"long).
Kenner 'Mantis Alien' from 1992. Probably the weirdest of the Kenner Alien line - i mean, how would a face hugger impregnate a Preying Mantis? The size difference doesn't work. Nice transparent green vinyl. 60p at a boot sale.
ZOINKS!! It's the 10,000 Volt Ghost. My dad bought this for me in a charity shop for 50p. Apparently the old lady serving said "What is it?" and my dad replied "I have no idea". Anyone recognise this serious looking Anime dude? I was thinking BLEACH, but i think i'm wrong. Pretty sure he used to have a gun, because he's got an itchy looking trigger-finger. £1 in a charity shop.
Great score on those Galaxy Warriors. I am totally into the MOTU bootleg stuff, but man, I can't even believe how 'collectable' it has become. I guess IG has blown this fad into (okay, well not the moon, or even sofubi collecting, but higher than it should be) popularity. And here I thought even 5 years ago the prices were sort of steep. I know @silver_lining_man had a great many conversations over such things with me. Nice scores on those Voltron guys too. Surprised you landed them from a boot sale still in very decent shape. Man, the Kenner Aliens line was just so odd of a mismatch. Even at the time and being young, released to cash in on Alien 3 release and the DH series' popularity, I remember thinking how bizarre it was. In a way though it was the forerunner of the truly crazy '90s aesthetic where designers seemed to just go overboard throwing as much at the wall as they could, seeing what would stick. You've got to wonder. That is some truly great parenting, and I can totally relate.
@ultrakaiju Yeah, the MOTU style bootlegs are a new thing for me and I was surprised how much they go for on eBay. Typically, I'm late to the game again, but what the hell - its something else to be on the hunt for. I hope i didn't pass on too many in the past. Speaking of MOTU i got 18 vintage figures in very good condition a few weeks ago for £18. Couldn't believe my luck. The haul included a he-man and skeletor with their armour, which is great because the ones I already have are pretty shabby. And yeah, that Kenner Alien line is classic 'strike while the iron's hot' toy making. Go way off base and don't give a fuck, if the kids buy it then who cares if it ties in with the franchise. As long as the scale is consistent, go hog wild !!
Wolverine with a busted tooth / bash to the head. 3" high soft vinyl. Boot sale buy a while ago, i think its a bootleg.
Pheasanyan from Yokai Watch. Little Bandai finger puppet for 20p in a charity shop. He's a cat Yokai crossed with a bird.
Vintage Spanish battery operated Shark (Tiburon) by Ranetta. As far as i can tell these are from the late 60's / early 70's. I'm pretty sure i can remember these menacing RC boats on the boating lake when i was a kid. It was £2 at a boot sale.
Kenner Resurrection 1997 figure, a few attachments missing but still a really cool figure for 50p. Charity shop bargain.
Superb shark man, have you given it a go? Might not take much to get it in water-terrorising shape, but I am not sure from the looks of it how accessible the motor is.
Yeah, it was an unusual find and reminded me of when I was a kid and boating lakes in seaside towns were still a thing. I don't have the correct batteries to try it out but the insides are clean and tidy with no obvious corrosion, so there's a good chance it will still work.
Hoodiez by Carl Jones, 8" high. He was covered in paint rubs, so he'd obviously been in a lot fights with other toys. Cleaned up nicely with an abrasive cloth and hot soap / water. £1.50 in a charity shop.
Porcelain E.T bust. I wouldn't normally buy non-plastic stuff but this was too cheap and too nice to pass up. Made by Avon in 1983. He was 20p at a boot sale.
Nope, this one is not a bottle. I do have an Avon E.T bottle but its plastic. I assume this was a little knick-knack for people's kids when they bought the make-up. I found this 1976 Mego Micronaut at the boot-sale last Saturday. He was 30p. Missing his metallic chest plate but still very cool for that price.
Found another Gigantor jiggler from the 70's (the yellow one). Its missing a tooth and a talon from each wing, but its still a very cool find. 50p in a charity shop.
A whole flatbed truck full of house clearance stuff put into plastic bags, and after a good rummage i found these two fellas. Possibly bootleg, they are very small and made of harder plastic. 50p for the two, they are 1.5" high.
Kind of like Boglins on steroids! Two hand puppets by Resaurus 1998. I found them at a boot sale for a tenner each, not a massive bargain but a reasonable price. These fellas are huge, they look more like movie props than toys.
