I would LOVE to see clear images of what will be available in the shop way before the drop.

Last night I grabbed a very pretty marbled dx but had I known ahead of time that there was a solid red I probably would have tried my luck for that one instead. Once things are live in shop there is no way we can click on different toys and try to make a choice between them because we don't have time. It's just grab and go at that point.

One other point is that I know it's difficult to have LOTS of different toys for sale all at once but I really think that is why a few people I know were able to get something this time. It's not hundreds of people chasing one thing. They have to make a choice and it gives everyone a better chance so that was pretty fantastic.

And kudos for fixing the oversold issue. That shit is heart-wrenching so regardless of any other issues the fact you guys solved that one is fucking great.

Yup I can make all this work.

I think the only reason I don’t is it’s nice to drop surprises. But these reason also help a lot of sense as to why it helps to see ahead of time.

    Thanks :)

Seconded, seeing the full contents of a drop would help a lot. But that could be through IG or the mailing list, too. Every additional service on the shop adds a touch more randomness to the drop, especially if it requires you to be talking to someone else's servers (like some of the shop stats services). No telling who'll load a page first that way, and sometimes those hundredths of a second are all the difference. So I agree re: keeping things slim as well, for both cost and performance of the site.

Here’s a photo of my son, River. He was definitely a little bit scared and apprehensive of these guys at first. LOL

Or do the opposite and make everything a surprise. Really give everyone a visual mind fuck when it all goes live.

This would be the only preview, if any. Or these could even be the images to choose from on the site. No one would know what they want... except @dago

@Rich I’ll say what I said on IG. If this was the Wild Wild West we wouldn’t be hearing anyone complaining about NOT getting shot! Taking an L on any drop sucks but understanding why you’ve taken it isn’t that hard. Your out put in even just this last 12 months had been increadable. Your fan base out weighs your inventory and you know what that is an incredible feat. 80-100 toys for 400 people or more. (And no matter what someone would complain, because if the inventory out weighs the fans then it’s not “Rare” enough to collect) that’s what makes collecting what it is. I’m sure some days MVH might stand for Most Visious Headache but you endure it and push forward and that’s why you have the fan base you do.
I’m not hear to ruffle any feathers. I never have but I remember way back I commented about not getting the Glow toxigon release and you made a joke and in that moment I realized what this hobby was all about, a few months later I went to the debut show at FOE and meet you and also won my first real MVH piece (that I’ll never let go) and it’s was a One off toxigon. I have been a fan ever since. PATIENTS PEOPLE! It pays off.

@eckotyper you know me I’m always up and lurking for the crooked ways to get an unfair advantage!!!

One, it would be a tragedy is I never used “ Most Vicious Headache” in one way or another. Brilliance sir !

Two, seeing you and the wife at the shop always makes my day. That’s what it’s all about. Doing shows at others galleries made me see that the personal connection is key. I know not everyone can make a show, believe me, I’ve been doing this and never made it to Japan.

I mean toys, food, drinks and just an over all good meeting place is so much more fun than just digital relationships.

I’ve seen people get their first tattoo in my shop. First one off toy ( not necessarily my brand) in my shop. New friendships in my shop. And the list goes on.

I don’t want to make this a come by Kumbya season. So I’m gonna end it. Gonna post more toy stuff this week.

I know DX is king, but I hope the new guys are still feeling the love. I’ll be focused on this fink toy ( still un named) hope he’s a nice companion to the rest.

Echoing what others said, I had a problem with the sofubi collection button too. I just thought it was my phone or internet here. I would also prefer everything to just be accessible from the homepage.

And I kind of disagree with being able to buy multiples of toys like DXs. It gives others a higher chance to score with the current system since you can really only buy one in the Wild West. Maybe a reserve system with one of each size, say 1 sludgie and one DX. This makes it more like the shows/conventions. Just my opinion...

Only skimmed through this avalanche of 4 pages in the past 24 hours (is that some kind of SB record?) but it seems like most people got tripped up by adding something and going in back to get a second or third toy - getting to cart and losing everything. Maybe limiting purchases to one toy per customer, regardless of diffferent sculpts - that way more fans can at least get something and less disappointment for fans, and resulting in less apologies by the maker all round. Seems like the best option for a hassle-free situation on both sides besides pre-orders.

Ok yeah this will be resolved for sure in the next drop. I’ll list everything as a feature on the home page. No needing to click on a collection to enter. Hopefully that’s will also make adding to cart also easier for multiple.

So to be clear, create and account. On days of releases log in, and also go and log in to what ever payment method your gonna use. This should speed up check out.

Same here, for what it's worth. But I did get the figure I wanted in my cart but it quickly disappeared. I too thought it was my own issue. At least I was in good company

In all seriousness and all emotions aside. Why shop drop at all? Everybody in this biz stopped doing it. I just want to know why the insistence rich? Yes you can sell the toys however you want but with the amount of people chasing, it is the morally responsible thing to lotto. Here's why, please hear me out. 1. Same product, same chances, but if you do not win you don't notice. You simply don't get an email. If u get an email you are ecstatic. 2. It keeps the PR stuff and the emo stuff down to a minimum. Look I know I've got mental health issues, and these types of things (heated online sales) don't affect everyone the same way but they do me and lots of others too. I have had a lot of loss in the past few years. These (and all) competitive situations bring out really strong feelings of well.. MORE LOSS. So yeah I guess my very real point is, for people with mental health issues the wild wild west brings out some very real, very bad feelings of more loss. I am obviously against that and think it's basically cruel in a way if that makes sense.

    3. it's not working. These sites are stores not meant to handle 2000 people logging on and trying to buy. That's why there's "always a problem". It's the wrong format for what you have to sell. You're supposed to be able to SHOP.
Even Jordan moved to lottos because the "wildwildwest" style of waiting in line was getting dangerous. You don't want to invoke those emotions in people.
If you're ready for some civil discussion I'd love to know why. Seriously. I've offered this advice before and you dismissed it instantly. But all of this discussion about frozen screens and cart Jack is irrelevant and unecessary if you just lotto. We are trying to solve a problem that simply doesn't need to be. Yet you insist it does. What are your personal reasons for doing it this way, and do you see any part of my side of the argument? Thanks

I DONT WANT YOUR ADVISE OR OPIONS !

Everything thing you assume is wrong. You haven’t been right on anything and you have been rude as fuck. How the fuck do you live life like this.....

I think my last post to you was perfect and as kind as possible, why couldn’t you just leave it at that.. Now please man, for the love of all that’s good, just ignore me, block me, stop following me, stop collecting me, stop trying to collect me, stop sitting in coffe shops with your friends discussing me. Stop giving me your “advice” , just stop.

What kind of system does Onell/Glyos use?
They get high traffic too but seem to manage it. Maybe reach out to the fellow New Englander.

    Edit: Checked. They’re Shopify too.

@quentor, given your admittance that you are not emotionally stable enough to handle losing toy drops, have you considered a few hobby?

I heard Beanie Babies are pretty easy to score and even go below retail on the bay

Ummm what happened to the golden rule of "the customer is always right"? As wacky as @quentor can be sometimes, I thought his most recent post was pretty considered.. unlike the keyboard smashing raged out reply in all caps from Richie. It was quite the tongue-"LASH"ing

It's all me me me me in this thread.. heck you'd think the thread was named after you or something ;)

Rich definitely isn't the only artist to sell out of a shop. He mentioned earlier in this thread that he prefers running lotto for individual pieces but that in his experience shop drops are better for multi-piece releases. I won't attempt to speak for him, but lotteries have shortfalls of their own. To suggest that lotteries are the only morally responsible option, or that an artist's preferred method for selling their own art is even a question of moral responsibility seems whacky to me.

One person's behavioral health issues don't mean that another person must or must not do x, y, z. This boils down to "do as I say or I'm gonna get maaad" and whether your speaking for yourself or other fans that behavior is abusive and manipulative. People with issues need to learn to avoid triggers and care for themselves rather than demand the world change to suit their needs.

To suggest that waiting for a shop drop is somehow akin to waiting in line for a chase item at a brick and mortar store is laughable. There's a stew of issues with black friday style shopping and they don't apply here. They wouldn't even apply at a con.

The system has worked and it is working. A lot of happy people on Instagram are eagerly awaiting their brand new MVH toys. Again, not gonna speak for Rich but that seems like the goal and if it is, it's working. Rich has expressed interest in refining the process to make things easier but it will never change the fact that will people will miss out. Even if there's a huge run of blanks. DX Blanks. Red and Black mixed part DX blanks. Actually that might fix everything. You'll never know if you don't try, Rich ;)

You're entitled to your opinion as much as everyone else is entitled to theirs and no one owes you hearing you out, especially with the way you've gone about voicing your views.

Exactly. Because it is all about him. He never wants to discuss this.
It's cruel and unusual. And punishment. To his fans. That's wack ASF and none of you see this?

Here's the last thing. I don't have to go anywhere. You made your bed sleep in it motherf#$ker. Here's the truth. YOU MADE ME. Think about it as long and hard as you need to.

Eyyy! Whether you were thinking of me or not @Rich , I had a great experience, and already want another MVH tattoo. I just can't decide on what character I want this time!

To keep it positive-- Real talk, putting everything else to the side... The days of the gallery shows have become hands down my favorite experience in collecting toys. And it seems I came in to your world at a great time. In regards to how you had decided to start handling sales at the show, I heard AOW was much more relaxing than BS2. As you know, not everyone has the advantage of being able to travel to the gallery, but for those that do, it's a truly special occasion. Anyone who has met you and spoken with you can see it on your face when talking to you. You have the sincerest respect and appreciation for your fans. You are always talking about how you want it to be fair for everyone, and how you want people to be happy. Don't tell her I told you, but Celeste calls you the "sweetest guy."  I think you have fostered probably the best environment stateside for sofubi collecting. I just wish there were more days to come up and visit

To me, i'm in MVH collecting for the long haul. That means that if I miss a drop, or don't get my first, second, or thirtieth choice at DV, then maybe next time. Quitting or flaming after something doesn't go your way is what children and bad-faith collectors do. Being sad is okay, but taking it out on others is not.

You give enough opportunities, my collection of your works after one year serves as plenty of proof. If you can't swing a shop drop, there are shows, cons, and online lottos. Even if I don't get exactly what I wanted, I feel genuinely happy for those of my friends who did get their top choices. To me, that is the joy and essence of collecting. Remember, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MORE TOYS!

    Keep on keeping on, Rich!

PS: Echoing the sentiments of others here... Please announce the drops beforehand as there is no time to think once they are live. And please keep all your items available on the home page. The collections button wasn't working for me, and there's no need to add complexity to the process. Your inventory is small enough.
