This has to be- this better be- from that same guy who did all those other great food-based kaiju, right? The wasabi monster, tamale monster, etc? Name escapes me right now...

Disgusting toy, pure shock value. Seems much more popular in Asia, but I'm sad to see it's popular at all. It encourages making more of this trash.

Exactly. If someone wants to spend time ruining a RxH toy, and adding a penis for whatever unfathomable reason, that's their business. But when someone else pays $350 for that botched craft project, they obviously have more money than sense. The 'artist' forgot to do a few splodges of glue and throw some glitter on it, for fucks sake.

I’d have to look again but one of his blasphemies popped up YJA. Couldn’t believe a Japanese collector fell for buying one of those, ugh.

There is a guy who may post here, not sure, that is putting out a toy soon that I think seriously could win for the ugliest toy in this entire thread. And that is a LOFTY aspiration.

But the thing is....I don't want to post it because the guy is an absolute sweetheart. I met him at DCON and the guy really put his heart into it. It's a genuine passion project, but it's an absolutely terrible Frankensteined piece of crap. It strikes me as a vanity project that should have never made it out of his head but to your point @The Moog just because someone has money doesn't mean they know how to spend it.

I've just been looking at all the sold out photos on the main page of that shop. Its curious, seems like a lot of the same adult RxH body is being using over and over again.

And the 'artist' is another student of the 'more is more' school of paint application that is becoming very popular nowadays. >BLETCH<

I know of what you speak. It has a headphone jack for a penis. More penis. Because its funny. I agree, its an abomination but I had to admire his dedication in getting the toy produced.

Only a few years ago, nobody were making sofubees and we called them toys.
Nowadays everybody makes them and calls it ʇɹɐ.

Have to say, even though the SWARMM figure definitely is Fugly, the large jiggler version is a great idea (the penis has been left off this jiggler version). Just imagine your favorite sofubi sculpt done in nice transparent rubber! Seems like a fun idea and I would imagine they would be cheaper to produce and sell. I'm wondering why other makers haven't done this.

I like parts of it in isolation. My criticism would be that there are enough ideas in there for several toys, and trying to fit them all in one sculpt really hurts the design. Make a Creature from the Black Lagoon or Mecha Goji with one (1) interesting variation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ props to the rubber toy idea though, very fun.

@The Moog it kills me what he does with rxh. I know at least one of those is a marbled blank underneath.

Agreed. It's well sculpted and the vinyl looks good quality, but its just not for me. I think he's gonna have plenty of fans of this toy, and good luck to him. Maybe I will dig his next toy. At least its from the heart and not some cash grab, like so many insta$$$ fodder nowadays. (Prayer hands emoji. Prayer hands emoji.)

A toy sculptor once told me that sculptors love asymmetrical designs, because they can be as lazy as they want working on it. That's always stuck with me.

It's not really about being lazy. When both sides match perfectly it gets really boring to sculpt. When you can make two sides at least a bit different you get to be way more creative. Even just a different eye shape or hand position keeps the work interesting.

It's the exact opposite with digital sculpting though. You can literally sculpt one half of a figure and use a mirror function to copy that half on the other half. Making it twice as fast and twice as easy. Which you can see in lots of new sofubi that is overly detailed and EXACTLY the same on both sides.

The key with digital sculpting is to get it 80% done with mirror on, then nuance the rest with details that make each side unique. I think traditional sculpting should be approached similarly for most cases(and probably is). Having a bit of asymmetry makes anything more interesting while still having an overall form of symmetry.
