Thought I would start a new thread just for the hell of it, because I can. Look, we all know that real life (and this place, by extension) can hand us a fair share of negative vibes and worries to deal with. But through it all, there is always some great stuff to appreciate, even if it is just the simple things. For instance, as silly as these monster dollies can be, they've gotten me through some rough times. And I am thankful for that, and for all the good folks I have met through this community of like-minded nerdy misfits. Anyways, just to kick this off, let's list some random things which have made my past few days a little bit brighter. who knows, maybe it'll help some other folks see something in their daily lives they might appreciate. - had a long weekend - got to go camping - had a most kelp excellent beer by the fireside - roasted some hot dogs - ate some laverbread (seaweed, I highly recommend it!) - picked up a cool tee from a local surf shop - had tasty prawn sandwich - got to see a cool exhibit on ancient bones and prehistoric artifacts - enjoyed a good cigar - overate at a greasy breakfast - quaffed a nice beer out in the sun - went for a seaside walk, discovering some 'wild horses' - sat around a fire into the night - imbibed at leisure on root beer and whisky (not together or necessarily in that order) - stared at the stars - cruised to some Motown - sourced some local honey from a tiny hamlet and plenty more besides, ... and am currently sipping some amazingly smokey mezcal So basically, life has a lot of little things you can enjoy when you choose to. Please do so. I know it doesn't always balance the other stuff in life, but if you don't pay attention to what is good, you'll only ever have that cloud hangin' over everything. Cheers SB, thanks for being part of the good stuff.
Ran into some friends I'd lost touch with last night; it was one's birthday and we hit some bars that have been on my list for a while. With work being crap and my girlfriend out of town, I really enjoyed the unexpected chance to kick back and laugh.
I have a Japanese Fire Belly Newt (Cynops pyrrhogaster) that is 27 years old. I used to have two of them, but one died in 2017. If this one makes it to 41, it will break the record. It gets frequent water changes and plenty of live ghost shrimp to hunt, but I have to dump a ton of them in there because it's nearly blind and and I think all of the sensory buds on its nose are gone. Here are some pictures:
Animals are SOOOOOO much better than people. I think that might be a big reason my life has been less good these past handful of years. We keep putting off adding an animal back into our lives. But it needs to happen soon.
@bryce_r - Seems the only folk around here that care about post counts are newbs trying to up a want thread and you, and the newb thing only happens maybe once a year. What's your beef, man? Genuinely curious.
^ Didn't have to wipe or didn't choose to wipe? I'd give those tighty-whities a once-over before they hit the hamper.
Took a wipe and clean as a whistle.. didn't wanna waste the paper (sustainability I'm woke) so I blew my nose with it
