Moving on to a different drug of choice...

It makes all the sense in the world that m'man Ziritt would take on Bambaataa's crew:

Spied in the pages of Marvel Hip Hop Family Tree TWO-IN-ONE, a 5 year old FCBD offering that set me back a quarter yesterday.

The streets, as we all know, were made for Ben Marra:

A little bonus Night Business, ripped from the pages of Hip Hop Family Tree THREE-IN-ONE; another quarter spent.

And, you know, they could never be wack.

    Treasury Edition!

*Yeah, I know, wrong rap combo. And I'm pretty sure I paid around $12 a few years ago. Still, you can see where I was going there, right?

No one is reading? It hasn't been relevant since Morrison's run but at least Hickman is trying. DM me if you have figured out the code.

I’m reading, and loving it!! I’ve been too lazy to decipher all the krakoan myself, but i’ve been reading hox pox tox where they go over every little detail of the early issues. seems like the krakoan at the end of each issue is just a small hint as to the next issue.

The new X biz is really that good? I guess I've been hesitant to poke my head into yet another event from the majors, what with there already being a required reading order for just the two minis, and six new titles to chase just on the horizon...

Hickman's whole career seems to have happened while I wasn't paying any attention to the big 3. Any suggestions as to what to pick up first to best turn me on to him as a typist? East of West has been on my list of titles to maybe check out for a while now, and I guess I'm curious about what he was up to with the FF.

re: Jonathan Hickman, I picked up the Nightly News when it first came out and really enjoyed it, although it was a very "talky" comic, from what I remember. Never got around to the rest of his career, but I recall it being really good for a first effort.

Hickman has written some of my favorite recent big name arcs. He's been solid when it comes to creating endings and new beginnings. Avengers (2013)/Secret Wars(2015), comes to mind instantly, where Marvel handed him the keys to unifying/destroying all of the Marvel universes, and I feel he did a great job doing so. Now with House of X/Powers of X, Hickman has created a new vision for the X-Men, while at the same time respecting everything that happened in the past (i.e. the messes that are X-Men timelines, resurrections, etc). He's a huge idea man, and he's extremely competent getting it down in comic book form.

He wrote the Fanatstic Four arc that included the Death Of Johnny Storm in 2011. I remember some AMAZING art by Dale Eaglesham in particular, as well as Steve Epting.

He also wrote The Manhattan Projects with art by Nick Pitarra.

It’s an alternate timeline after World War 2 where The Manhattan Project was kept going with all sorts of crazy as shit experiments and happenings. Super heady. It’s got Albert Einstein and an A.I. version of F.D.R. The art is perfect and the coloring is vibrant and restricted and I fucking LOVE this book.

All this Hickman talk makes me want to dig out these books and read through them again. Thanks for the inspiration everybody!:D

    Fixed. Grr.

I know it's been several years and all, but I did just say that I didn't know anything about what he'd written. And that I was already curious about his FF run...

Feedback from you all is appreciated, though. I guess I've got some serious trade borrowing from the library ahead of me.

It’s been 8 years!! Almost a decade! Apologies for the “spoiler”. So, I won’t mention XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXX. Or that XXXXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXXX XXX XX XXXXXXXX.

Also, when I read your post I thought of Future Foundation, because Hickman created it.

I’ve been following Malachi Ward’s art since I met him when he worked at Secret Headquarters when I used to live in LA. He’s super nice. And his artistic evolution has been a treat to watch.

Onto Volume 3 of Swamp Thing (Moore’s run of course) and I’m really getting into it, finally. I love the forays into horror the series frequently makes while maintaining a sense of mysticism. It also helps that Constatine has made it into the story (he seems like a fucking dick so far) and Swamp Thing is learning how to use his powers more.

Glad I finally gave this highly lauded series a second chance, having just recently stalled it yet again to an admitted addiction to Ennis’ Hitman series.

LOL, his appearance was based on Sting in the early days, not sure if that counts for his personality as well. You have so much good stuff to come, wait until Swamp Thing goes to hell and meets Etrigan the Demon (created by Kirby) its awesome. The story gets more and more intense and weird.
