Thank fuck. Melt 'em down into a swirly block, cut it into angled chunks and give 'em away as door stops. It would be a better use for that fugly bastard.

I'm sure I'm in the minority and it's definitely not the 'fugliest . . . but it's not a big leap!

That one’s just an upscale pre existing toy (or HOMAGE as some would like to label it) - a chogokin aptly named Mechagorilla.

[IMG] Target Earth did a version too, again it’s pretty much the same:

I don’t mind ‘em. Sold my Zollmen version though because looking back it cost a fortune and I used the money to get a few other small toys in it’s place.

And the Target Earth version was never actually released past this photo. But I think they’re all pretty great. I’ve only seen the Zollmen version in Yoda’s Cosmo Knight Alpha shop.

Is that right? Never knew. I remember Target Earth had this available for order during the “Jap bug” window. That guy fits this thread actually. Took 2 years for it to arrive at mine if I remember correctly.

^ Hey! That's a spectacular bit of plastic that has no business showing up in this thread! Crawl out of frame, little bug, crawl and be free!

Upon its release I believe Target Earth gave the disclaimer (in Japanese) “Yes. I am Japanese.” Just a little wartime propaganda parody, move it along.

@skaldavsatanssol There were a handful of sculpts that never made it past Sato - San’s initial test pulls/paints/promo photos due to an illness. Recently, he’s announced since regaining his health and hopes we’ll be seeing these sculpts and more soon!

^^ That just looks like Frank Mysterio's Nag rip-off. The one that looks like a burnt turd:

Ever decreasing circles, eh? From the same account as above, looks like two slimy turds with eyes.

All of these "new release of the week" shits have the same lazy-ass design work in these images... at least put some effort into it and do a nice logo or something. Looks like some fucking boomer just added text in microsoft paint

What is with all the garbage this week... We've already spoken about this guy a few times. And not just limited to the fact that 4 different versions of this toy started leaking to IG at the same time.

Not only that, I believe he was the person who is bootlegging MVH. And he was also spreading pro-China propaganda on his sofvi IG. If you want to support this class act, join the lotto for just $299 plus shipping.

But most importantly, the toy is FUGLY

NAGS look like burnt turds. The OG burnt turd. These look like burnt turds AS WELL.
It’s the “burnt turd” aesthetic. I think we should make “burnt turd” OFFICIAL SB terminology. I like burnt turds from time to time, but they have to be QUALITY burnt turds.

Have I said burnt turd enough? I think it’s a great one-two word punch.
    BURNT TURD!!

    Also, a great band name...

Just gonna alienate myself from the whole board here, and say I don't understand why Kougai Kaiju gets a pass. To my novice eyes, it just looks like Nag. That being said, one of my favorite toy photos is over on the spooky thread: the pic of three Kougai Kaiju congregating in a cupboard.

Well, not least of the reasons would be historical precedent...

It took 34 years for the beastie to emerge from header card obscurity into three-dimensional holdable!

I'll leave it to others to compose an actual essay.

@Smotemotem Bemon’s Kougai predates the Nag, was derived from a partial image of a vintage header card(as provided by David) and completed from as such. The original Nag itself is supposedly a rip on Dustman, albeit terribly. The Kougai is a pollution monster that’s essentially comprised of sludge and toxic waste, hence the sensical textures, as where the Nag, in my opinion, is just a waste.

Thanks for the info, guys! I read a bit about the inspiration in other threads here, and in the article about Hedorah-inspired monsters. I guess I'm surprised by how different it is from the other pollution-monster sculpts, and how readily adopted it has been. It's not exactly vintage, but it seems to be accepted by the vintage crowd for its roots & faithfulness to the concept (at least from the chest up). It's strange, because this is the only monster from that header that I don't like. I know that puts me in the minority, though.
