I would love a four headed bemon with large GID attribute. Bonus point if it’s sculpted by a renowned Instagram artist, sell for top $$$ and is released at 4 am, offering one offs painted by guest stars. So much to look forward this next year
I couldn't help but notice that after one of the recent updates, the Instagram app has a title screen that proudly states "FROM FACEBOOK." Facebook taking the next steps to monetize and/or restrict external links on Instagram is going to seriously impact the designer toy hobby. It's going to be trivial for them to implement. As it is, they do their best to make sure that your eyeballs are on Instagram as much as possible.
Lots of cool stuff is gonna pop up in sofubi for 2020. Just gotta wait and see! This year had some good stuff for sure. Imma take a top 20 pic later on when my legs a bit better.
Financing. Artists will begin setting up monthly payment plans, with interest. Miss a payment? Toys get repossessed.
All I want is for Butanohana and Gargamel to make the Illustration from their last collaboration into a toy. That is all thanks.
Dude should've held onto his $5! . . . 6 years later the 'Haters' and 'Trolls' are all still here whilst he's long since flipped his NNN collection and anything else worth a buck!
I'll enjoy drama over some industry crybaby now and then compared to endless arse kissing of toy makers, and posts that are pretty much the equivalent of one word commenting 'want' or 'need' on instaspam
Geezus... Can anybody tell me what the story behind this video is? I prefer white cheddar popcorn and A&W root beer anyways...
So what happened in the world of sofubi for 2020? Mile High Sofubi, the first American factory, started making figures for Tenacious Toys, Basement Puke, Bleeding Edges, and others. (website) Science Patrol and Shirahama Toy pulled their first figures that change colors in sunlight. (video) The publication of Pure Invention, which, as far as I know, is the first English-language book that tells the story of Marusan and the vinyl kaiju boom in the 1960s. (website) Oh yeah, a global pandemic forced us all into lockdown, recession, and the widespread individual financial, mental, and physical challenges that go along with this situation. Among the things that affected sofubi collectors: Slowdown or halting of some shipping services. The rise of alternate shipping services. Cancelled and scaled-back shows. A new focus on Amabie, the yokai who appeared 175 years ago to offer magical protection against diseases. (article) Sofubi figures of Amabie were released by One Up, Science Patrol, Headlock Studio, and Sunguts. Instagram put a new Shop button where the old Activity button was, leading to much speculation about how the buying and selling of goods on the platform may change. Sofubiki, a wiki for sofubi toys, was launched. (web site) What else? (Besides figures of rotting babies with penises and swastikas. That's a given.)
Great breakdown. Obviously a terrible year on almost every front. Toys were the lifeline that really helped me get through this year. To all the toy makers, painters, pullers, packagers, photographers...you’ve made this year bearable. To see so many artists still push and actively work their asses off to get soft vinyl joy to my doorstep was absolutely the highlight of the year. If I got a toy from toy in 2020, know that you helped bring light into an increasingly dark world and THANK YOU. Here’s to a chance to hang out and talk toys in person one day
