The photo is by Dell. To my knowledge, he is not part of SB. The proto pictures I posted are for a different suit version which has yet to be released. The version in Dell photo is of the 1954 Godzilla puppet version.
Dell Martinez! Great collector and I love his fotos. He’s a fellow admin of mine on the VKL fb page. And this Goji is freaking awesome!
Is this actually by Anraku? I know they pop up when you search his name on yja but I didn't see anything on his website.
Yes. It is by Anraku. He had posted production digital photos last year and the sales at WF this year on his blog.
New shots of the second version of the 'Godzilla' are out. I still think it is a really nice toy, very true to some of the other classic Goji sculpts (e.g. Pilot Ace) but a massive part of me STILL wants to see the chunkier version we saw in that preview shot from last year. This is a fantastic toy in itself, and is very essential AA, but that one had me so excited in fully embracing it's own fun charm; sort of just like the Pretty Godzilla. Ideally I would like to live in a world where both were possibilities, and I am still holding out hope this might come to pass. Anyways, the more traditional and very blocky look is great, I kind of like how his small arms look even more out of place than normal with these proportions, and give him a sort of derpy look. I think I like the colouring of the 1st [blue] version better, but this one is unmistakably Anraku, especially once you see those rear spines. Edit, for the uninitiated, Of course, I am not on 'the list' so it's all a pipe dream at this point. Evidently lottery sale, though.
Glad to see these being offered for lotto, albeit not the colorway for me either. Hoping we see more of these offerings in the future (in blue plz ).
Very strong releases! It's not like I would ever have a choice, but that first release blue is a dream!
I dunno, man. That red fella looks just amazing to me, dynamic and striking. It gives me the Toy Graph feels.
I like the red one a lot more than the blue one. The blue is pretty boring, and does nothing for me - particularly on this sculpt, which itself is kinda iffy. I think the only way it works is with a true AA paint job in weird colors. Otherwise it's just sort of a bootleggy-looking giant lizard toy.
Interesting to see such mixed reactions to this guy. Actually, I think that is exactly what I like to see though from new toys. Makers doing their own thing, and some people dig, while others can appreciate it but it might not be for them. Speaking to this specific example, I would say that I don't think my screen-grabbed pic does the toy justice (I think), and that - it may also be because this is a prototype sample paint - the clarity on the colour and detail are washed out, to its detriment. I also hope that the paint on this one is going to be better than the quality of some of the other AA Medicom releases. The sculpt itself I still can dig, and its funky proportions (and yes, thick tail) are precisely fun, not unlike the connections I've mentioned (Pilot Ace, Toygraph, Marmit - those are all toys I also dearly love). If anything it is more close to those than being original [hence the unfortunate comparison to the chunkier version], but being based off of a 'real' object I guess this makes sense. Between the two colours, I think I prefer the blue, as it gives it that more classic feel, and yes it could easily be mistaken for a sculpt by one of those other makers, but, likely because I love those too, I am fine with that. The red, with AA paints is more it's own thing. But both are fun! I would not kick these out of bed (or my toy chest) at all. I can definitely see some great potential for outdoor shots with this chunky fella.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the VP line! I just thought what Glenn said was funny. ...and the VP line definitely has some turd tails
I got to say that AA doing godzilla has really caught my attention, i don't know if is because I have been on a Goji kick lately and have been obsessing about the different maquette godzilla and 1954 versions. I do like this version a lot, the only thing that I don't like it is the big ass pupils that it has. Maybe in perosn it might look different.
I like it! He usually does the proto-paint on the sculpt first anyway doesn't he? Looks like if Godzilla got stuffed by an old school museum taxidermist. Do wish that tail had some curve tho. Reminds me of the Bare model mid Goji...I hated it when I got it but warmed up later.
