I was really bummed to miss it this year but after all the positivity I’m hoping we all get (at least) one more good year out of it

I think this year really ironed out a lot of the kinks that were there for the first year of the new location. Having the isle numbers displayed helped, as well as better grouping of areas so there wasn't so many vast swaths of empty space. It still wasn't perfect, but neither was the giant side room in Pasadena.
I'm not sure how it was from the point of view of just an attendee, but overall it wasn't as bad the endless wandering I felt last year. It was a bit easier to find the people I was looking for. Also it was really great seeing some people I hadn't met before that came from faraway lands.

i'm pretty excited for it. I've been following 3Dretro's popshop live experiences, and i'm assuming this is the partner they are working with. It's pretty engaging, and if every booth has its own channel, it essentially means, with a bit of work, you could be watching the paul Kaiju channel all day with all kinds of madness : )

Plus, there's no drinking like home drinking.

That sounds neat! With how relatively small our corner of the proceedings is, I wonder how many makers will buy in, and how many will just do a release around that time.

Well one "positive" thing about most live events being closed, is that it opens up a lot of chances for you to buy stuff online! Not only toys, but other shows for all sorts of stuff that you previously had to travel to, in order to get the goodies (handmade pottery!). :) Should be fun to see what DCON online brings (Mr. Ohashisan, where are you?! :D)

If you had a booth and pushed it to 2021 you get a free virtual booth. So im assuming they will if they have a booth

So, dumb question. I've never had the freedom to travel in November, but it sound like dcon will be online this year? Their website still seems to indicate a live event. Did they send out updated info to people who already have tickets?

Why is VIP so expensive? It's all virtual this year.
Man, what a shame. DCon is my favorite convention of the year. This sounds frustrating. I have to download an app, have fast fingers, hope my internet connection is good and I have a feeling my favorite artists won't be there. @Paulkaiju and @Rich will you guys be selling at virtual DCon?

Easiest DCON to attend, and the first one in years I'll be missing altogether. This sounds stupid. If I remember correctly (and I do), VIP was not so limited at all. Vendors get first crack at buying everything. It went from being a cool show to a funko expo.

They said on the page they are waiting a few days to share the vendor list but they have 200 vendors right now. I think the concern that many Japanese vendors won't want to participate is a valid one.

Unfortunately a complete list of vendors isn't available right now as they're continuing to confirm who will be in attendance. For now your best bet would be to check for updates from your favorite artists via their social media accounts or ask them directly if they will be participating.

If it is any compensation, VIPs will be getting some limited edition items as part of their ticket purchase (hence the shipping charges). Whether those items will be of any interest to you, my best guess is probably not. :|

Downloading the mobile app won't be a necessity. The browser based engine is already up and running smoothly.

Thanks. Popshop on my computer is much easier than phone.
So, on Popshop, they show the toy on the screen and you type you want it?
    Is that how it works?
Then with other items you can just buy them from that box on the right?

Ben just held a Q&A on Instagram. You can catch the full briefing on IGTV:

    https://www.instagram.com/tv/CGa1bNgB8Wc/

So all products are listed to the general catalog which is seen on the righthand side. Items can be purchased by anyone as long as inventory is available. In other words, if you ask for something and they list it, someone else can "snipe" it (i.e. buy it before you do) if they want it and they're faster than you. The only thing to stop someone from doing that is common courtesy. Your best bet is to move as quickly as possible at all times. A good internet connection is also vital to purchasing high ticket items.

What you have witnessed is part of the typical shopping experience on Popshop Live. While a seller is touring their storefront or warehouse, if you see something in the background you want you can ask if they'll list it for you. Most good and attentive sellers will comply—they are there to make money after all—however, one may have a strict plan for the day with limited time and would rather not (e.g. they only planned to sell shirts and you asked for a random novelty item hanging on the wall that requires they go and get a ladder).

For DesignerCon I assume most vendors will have a set itinerary for drops and won't be taking requests as they will eventually make available everything they have planned for sale, so it'll be more of a waiting game to get what you want. Limited items will be restricted to 1 per customer at the seller's discretion.

I might try it but I'd have to see a list of vendors before purchasing a ticket. I'd rather just go to it next year though if Covid isn't going to be a huge issue.

Last year VIP got wristbands. You needed a wristband to get in lines, or buy from vendors during VIP hours. Security was going around and dispersing lines before the doors opened, and kicking people from lines without wristbands. It was a nice solution, as they are not strict with selling extra vendor badges.

That said, there are some people with access to both badges. If 2020 had been a regular dcon, extra vendor badge prices were going to be significantly higher. I don't think as many people would be getting them, especially when they were turned away from lines in 2019.
