Very excited to finally have these guys ready after a long pandemic delay! These are licensed from the OG Space Creatures keshi toys--four times the size (8.5 inches) in roto-vinyl with zero points of articulation! First up is the Winged Amphibian Creature. Matching the OG colors as best as possible--just these three so far, and hoping to do all 8 Space Creatures over the next few years and introduce more colors. [
I used so many of these as erasers when I was a kid! How hard was it to get the license to pull this project off?
Sacrilege! Haha, actually using them as erasers--how dare you! Licensing, in general, is a brutal game--particularly as a pretty small/independent entity. Can't really say any part of it has been particularly easy, it's always an uphill battle, taken years to start getting them, but it sort of builds steam when you can eventually say to a licenser, "And see, here are the other licensed products I've done." But it very often feels like you're talking to someone who is politely trying not to say, "And who the hell are you exactly??" But each agreement is unique with different complications and/or different negotiable aspects. Some are quite agreeable and straight forward, some really get into the weeds with every crazy legal detail.
