I’m starting to understand why vintage collectors stick to vintage. It’s all the same shit repackaged.

I guess I’m gonna focus more on 2001-2015 toy makers because this flooding of non-Japanese makers with heavy Japanese inspiration is a bit hard to follow

Calling yourself 'Shameless toys' when your output is just blatantly ripping off someone else, just seems too on the nose. Or too funny - i can't decide ...

Nice loose arm joint on that one in the photo too

This is pretty much where I’m at nowadays. With the quick turnover of new toys and makers these days I find It’s cheaper and easier to collect the older stuff that’s not the new hype flavor of the month.

Holy shit, it’s like the bootleg of the target earth copy of the HxS version. At least the mouth opens?

had a side conversation after my post and im not sure if being that straight forward outweighs how completely lazy this brand is

im ok with rip-offs parodies bootlegs whatever, but the ones that tryyy to bring some charm to the table are the ones that have any merit imo. aka why target earth is bomb and equally as "shameless" in their product design

Right? If you are going to bootleg or parody a toy add some charm or silliness or just make it way better than the original. Copies are fucking boring.

And the age old "I copied it because the original was too expensive/hard to get' never seems to last long because once people flock to the copies the toy maker sees dollar signs and that shit gets just as expensive/hard to get. Or if the copies fail miserably the maker vanishes because it was never about the toys in the first place. Just the hope that they would catch fire.

That literally looks like the Play-Dough men the 2-3 year olds made when I was a counselor for Daytime Jesus Summer Camp.

(Strangest experience ever being a non-Christian teaching kids Jesus stuff, I just needed something for my resume)

Not as bad as that last one but this one seems like it’s trying too hard to be other toys

This is a ceramic slime monster I made when I was a first grader. I posted it as a test to make sure that Skullbrain is still properly calibrated. ;p

Here I was thinking it was a weird interpretation of "Chairy" from Pee Wee's Playhouse!
