Interesting - well, from a point of let's see what happens here only  - auctions coming up this month. As Forbes is reporting, as part of it's Toys, Comic Art & Collectibles Live Auction, Prop Store is offering a good lineup of Star Wars items, including some which are, ahem, 'coveted' by certain collectors. This includes the, I don't even like using the term rare since this was never a produced item, but anyways, let us say original L-slot version of the famed rocket-firing Boba Fett.

If you are reading this then I assume you are familiar with this toy, and i won't go into the details. [And it's easy enough to look up]. This version is offered sealed [typical acrylic case which is all the rage these days] and apparently certified and graded [at an 85 (NM+) rating] by the Collectible Investment Brokerage. Forbes is quoting an estimate of 80k USD for this one. That being said, the lack of an established provenance on this piece, the actual number available, and the history of past [unscrupulous] sales of these; I would be hesitant. But there are some SW nuts out there with deep pockets, unlike myself.

A PDF version of the complete auction catalogue is available online, or to buy physically. Similar to the recent Vinyl Conflict auction, this might actually be a cool thing to pick up for SW nuts alone (not looking at myself or anything...). The auction bidding opens up in 3 days, and is available live and online.

The aforementioned Boba Fett is of course getting most of the attention of course, but there is lots there that is even more interesting to me. A few examples below,

    Amazing bootlegs:

    Lily Ledy Tusken Raider:

    Prototype large-size Lando:

Anyways, there is a tonne more (both new and vintage), including the usual suspects (vinyl cape Jawa, blue Snaggletooth), and all the typical carded figures. Check it out if you are interested; but don't blame me for any crushes dreams.... or empty wallets. ;)

Who knows, maybe @brianflynn is looking for that next showcase piece.....

I never noticed that Bright slaps Amuro with his right hand and you see Amuro's right cheek getting hit.

He is just so speedy with that backhand!

Seriously though, when a show is this good, I can forgive minor goofs (especially inherent with manual animation of cels). This though, is forever burned into my mind. Amuro, what have ye done?

Oh, there are plenty of goofs. If you haven't seen the making of documentary already, do so, it thoroughly explains why the quality was so bad.

(And he is Little Orphan Amuro, isn't he?)

Drawings on a certain theme by Brian Chippendale:

He sold these in his shop last month, with all proceeds going towards the purchase of PPE for New England healthcare workers.

 I mean, I dunno, that was certainly on point and good for a laugh - seems it should be watched by a lot of people on here as well, as this applies just as much to any collecting genre.

Buuuuuutttttt, counterpoint, Fugly or Customs threads. :dam:
(really just kidding though, as much as we joke around here, and knock stuff, all the gruff attitude and judgement generally comes out of a place of love - I think - versus nerd rage, and we certainly don't ban people here for opinions just on toys).

Sure, I take your counterpoint, but the fugly thread is mostly just personal opinions on how expensive toys look. Good or bad. Yay or nay. Very simple.

The guy in that video is up against collectors who can kick him out at the drop of a hat for breaking many different 'rules' they've decided on. Its more an attack on how you collect, play-with or restore your toys. Not a simple disagreement over aesthetics.

I can't believe someone could write an obituary on Wilford Brimley, and leave out such a seminal film as Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. :( (or The Thing!)

He always seemed like a genuine person, that came into acting through stunt work actually. He brought a sense of warmth and relatability to all his characters. He was actually scheduled for a convention reunion in March, though I am not sure if it ever happened. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I appreciate the commitment to making these fit in with the original line of 3.75 figures - the cape materials, for example. However, The Child is atrocious*! With it being, arguably, the most popular character in the series some more care should have gone into that sculpt. Also, didn't the original Yoda have a cloth cloak? Or am I making that up? If not, would have been nice to see the same material used for a true Moff/Vader Child/Yoda commitment.

*Same with Kuiil. Definitely could have used the level of detail that the Gammoreans got.

That whole episode was essentially one half of one chapter of a now noncanonical Star Wars book, Tales from Jabba's Palace.

Them Tusken Raiders had best kept rooting around as there's more than one gem inside that dragon.

Quickly popping in here to avoid Mando spoilers, but wanted to share this. Okay, some liberties to grab headlines aside, this is just one of those things we [Star Wars toy nerds] always dream of (but has yet to happen to me!).

Star Wars toys dumped in Stourbridge garage fetch £250,000

I've heard many interesting stories from the old Palitoy plant. Alas, I keep waiting for my day....

A link to the full catalogue is available here. Sad to hear that this is the auction house's final sale before closing permanently, a victim of the current era presumably. Happy that at least they went out with something fun (and profitable no doubt).

PS - I didn't see any kaiju (but could have missed something maybe, there are a lot of big lots) but the auction included a good portion of toys for people here, with some Japanese connections as well; Go Nagai characters, vintage robots, Megos, Micronauts, comics, models, sci-fi memorabilia, and a ton of other great toys. Sadly, I was not bidding.

Some highlights, but I'll keep it to the topic of this : thready (sadly)
