He might have to use DHL or Yamato Express for shipping. Both are real pricey unfortunately.

Yes, he is using Yamato. I'm pretty sure that $27 would cover several figures if you ordered a few. He does also throw in free minis, which is very nice.

Shipping is expensive, but I've been wanting those Shakokitachi micros for a bit. I decided to throw in a Wild Hunt, and hopefully I get a cool colored Amabie! Shipping is definitely out of his control due to COVID-19.

If you want expensive shipping, look at Siccaluna! They are trying to charge $200 shipping to USA. I love their work but that's a hard pass right now.

International shipping is pricey, especially Japan to U.S. and vice versa. To ship one of my Daruma toys to Japan (which is approx. the size of a Wild Hunt) it costs exactly $26.36 USD via USPS and that's with a discount. Not to mention packing materials. That is the absolute cheapest option that I have found. I charge a lot less in my shop but I've chosen to take a hit on shipping since I have fairly low volume.

As for the $200 charge from Siccaluna...sounds like an attempt to deter foreigners from ordering.

I'll keep my rants about shipping to the proper thread from now on but this just happens to be an issue I've recently grappled with.

Honestly, how people still feel justified complaining about shipping charges... what a joke! Makers spend hours or days packing, labeling and shipping stuff, and usually just charge the ACTUAL cost charged by the shipping service. NO charge for the time, materials (tape, boxes, label service, etc) or pain-in-the-dick of actually DOING the shipping work. We are humans - not Jeff Bezos for Chris’ake....

I don't think it's aimed at the seller or artist per se. I think it's just a general gripe that it's an added cost that wasn't apparent when factoring how much an item will cost when adding it to your cart. Especially when people might be used to domestic charges, which are usually much less than overseas. Throw in the inconsistency of overseas shipping charges and it can be enough to dissuade someone from purchasing something like a toy that is not a necessacity in the current climate.

Shipping is expensive right now. Sucks so I just end up adding more items bc it makes the shipping a better value.

    How about this monster boy.

Sorry to hop into the thread! I wanted to clear something up with the shipping though:

So right now EMS is slowly returning to most of the world except for the USA, Australia, and a few other places. Some counties that had gotten EMS shipping approved again had brief lapses where they were on the “will not send” list again. To combat this we decided to give all counties outside of Japan one shipping option: Yamato.

Yamato has been the only service that has operated the entire duration of the pandemic with little to no slowdown. It’s minimum charge for a very small box is around $27 and then it shoots up to $45 for the next size up which isn’t that much bigger. EMS was somewhere near $23 or so, but was so iffy on timelines and guarantee of arrival that I just wanted to go with Yamato regardless of the $5 or so premium to guarantee that things would get there and would arrive in a reasonable time (usually a week according to most customers). For stuff like Mandarake and other larger companies using DHL, I have been informed that those are corporate contracts that we am not eligible for.

It sucks and I hate having that being the only shipping option, but after the setback that was the original Dogu preorder back in March or whenever that was when all the 100+ orders got returned to us I didn’t want to take any chances. I’m sorry it’s so high, but I want to guarantee that things that were ordered will arrive.

I have heard that international airmail might have returned, but it is untracked. I will be doing a poll later today on my Instagram to see who all would be interested in a potentially cheaper (not sure how much), but absolutely untracked form of shipping. If so we will be allowing it in the future with the acceptance of the fact that we can’t be responsible for updates after the box has left the country. Also, if this option is available and considered popular enough then I will make sure it is made available before the next shop update which will include the Cranston (that totally bootleg McDonalds burger) sofubi preorder as well as several other items.

Thank you all for your support and understanding. I am so sorry for all this bullshit that you have to deal with just to get toys...

Anyone want to combine and maybe save a couple bucks on shipping for the new drop?

Looking to pick up a Cranston.

Cranston is a pre-order, so if you order things along with it that are currently in stock, they will be held until the Cranstons are ready to ship. (I think.)

I couldn't help but notice the Cranston is identical to the McDonald's kids stools back in the day (80's?). Seems a bit out of place amongst the menagerie of Yokai. What's the story?

To be fair, they did do a wind-up toy and a lamp. More recently Undercover x Medicom did a new lamp with the vampire teeth ... pretty cool.

They should really bring these back for a "retro" release or something. Id kill for that burger lamp. The one with teeth doesnt do much for me but it is pretty cool.

Yeah, it doesn't need the teeth, I agree. I'm not sure if the original lamp was released for the public or just a limited thing for McDonald's staff etc, it seems to be fairly rare.

A lot of the McDonald's stuff from this time is rarer and more collectable due to the lawsuit with Sid and Marty Krofft. Short answer, McDonald's was forced to stop making a lot of their characters, which is why we don't see Mayor McCheese and a few others beyond the late 70s and early 80s. I'm not sure to what extent and which characters they had to stop making.
