Auction 5, 1 November 2020, ended at 40,100円. Given the other examples here, I was surprised at how high this one went. He is another nice, peach-eye variant with the double foot stamping, classic '66 flat blue-green vinyl, and the deeper blue along the fins. Fair amount of silver paint remaining. A lovely Goji, don't get me wrong at all, but someone was fighting it out for him. [Also really makes me wish I had went more in for his red-eyed brother. Doggone it, I has a sad again]. He did have nice eyes and clean mouth paint. Anyways, given the flush of these that all came to market at one time (granted, one was an apparent re-post) I really thought, if anything, this would be splitting up people's focus/bids on the different ones. But no, it seems it only kept going higher. Well, one more to chalk up on the record in any case.

Now how long before the next one comes along I wonder?....

    Current product Megaloman soft vinyl
    Went for: 80,001 yen
It seems to me that in this case they entered a war of egos or the seller inflated the auction, it is a rare figure but not so much to reach these prices, I hope and this crazy price trend will normalize soon.

I think you might be right about the Megaloman, Roger. It is a bit higher than what I would consider average for these figures, but with prices going high and low randomly, I guess any predictions on YJA auction is like trying to understand the American electoral system.

The Jet Jaguar on the other hand is more in line with what I would have expected. Expensive to adopt, but a choice example of a harder to come by toy these days, and even for a Toho figure, one which I think commands a premium. Nice to see one come up for sale, and I feel for the friends on here who were excited for the potential to adopt this one, but just weren't able to make it happen it the end.

I was trying to go after this missile-firing Mechagodzilla. This is actually what pulled me away from some of those Marusan Godzilla autions. The staining was a sort of worry, as this might be an indication of exposure to heavy cigarette smoke (which is a turn off) but I actually like the sort of contrasting colours it has produced in this toy. It is probably really silly, but I like the way the vinyl could be almost brown, with those brighter painted colours on top (even if I know it is discolouration). Gives him sort of a warmth to it, and just emphasizes the life of the toy. So thumbs up all the same from me!

It does have some damage, most notably the to the two chest missiles, and one of the hand rockets, but to be honest this was likely one of the few chances I have ever had at a mostly 'complete' one of these guys. I've been in love with this toy since I first discovered the repro years ago, and even those are now getting costly. Alas, it ended up more than I could afford with stuff going on, but still I think the price was not that bad. I got into a heavy bidding war, and surpassed my 'maximum' several times, and then even still went into a range where I would have had some problems. I think a lot of us have been there, but hey, there are worse things we could love. At the end I was just unable to continue though. Unfortunate to have missed him, but just came down to awful timing for me. I'll have to keep being patient and hope maybe the toy gods smile on me some other time.

Bullmark missile-firing Mechagodzilla, ended at 53,300円.

This was sort of a nice auction which I sacrificed to the above. Not a bad ending price, the box is in pretty great shape and has just wonderful artwork on it. I have been chasing after one of the rollers, walkers, or banks, and still hope to adopt one of the characters at least for my family.

Marusan Pagos windup rolling toy w/ box, ended at 29,600円

This was a great auction. I was really surprised to see one of the DX sizes with the box like that even, but it was in incredible condition. I like the way it is just like a giant version of the later Bandai-type packaging. The Megaloman is of course fantastic, and this one had some of the best Farah Fawcett hair I have ever seen.

It is one I will not soon forget. I know any 'normal' person would scoff at the mere thought of paying anything for this junk lot, let alone these figures. But it was almost mine. Almost.

First (okay, maybe 2nd) version of Marusan Ultraman 350size, sold for 46,940円.

Alas, poor Ultra, please do not forsake me. :(

This is very insteresting how people collect toys differently...
I almost never buy not MIB toys as I really want them to be pristine (and I just hate makers like Atom A or BlobPus who barely protect the expensive toys they are selling)...
But buying a broken one ??? that is just not an option :)

Like I said, I full own up to just how bonkers this is. (and still, I am sorry I lost!)

The main factor is that one of the arm flashing is completely missing, so even with repairs, this would have a hard time making a full toy. But, and this was not something I considered until after the auction but is actually a main contributing factor no doubt, you could buy this lot for the head alone, and greatly 'increase the value' of a later version, if that was what you cared about.

Well, nothing like ending an auction on a nice, round number. :?

Marusan Giant Gorilla, ended at 100,000円

It's a bit of a head-scratcher for me. This one is maybe a bit better than the one I lost out on due to the bid failure I posted above, but not much. It still has some condition issues. And that one sold for 38k. I mean, monkeys are all the rage I guess? But damn.

Going through a few more key listings I was watching, and wanted to save these here before they disappeared for good.

First type Marusan Ultraman (as usual, my grail, so one I was excited for). This could be a second release, as the paint around the next looks a bit sloppy, and the usual wear from the mis-matched model paint. Ended at 114,000円

Another one of the Flying Attack Human figures which slipped by. This one was in really nice shape; I am even almost a little surprised it didn't go higher still given the condition (but still out of my bracket), just some minor paint loss to one of the eyes.

Yonezawa Flasher villain, ended at 59,000円

I always love seeing these Frankenruges come up for sale. I have only ever been able to make a play on heavily damaged ones, and even then don't even really have a shot. Some day though, I set a goal to achieve at least one of the standard Barom-1 villains. They are just so incredible and every one of them is a marvel the quintessentially captures for me, the delight of tokusatsu monsters and soft vinyl toys. You can immediately see why this super toy launched so many lesser tributes.

Bandai standard size Frankenruge [フランケルゲ], ended at 88,600円

Another Leafman to add to the track list. These seem to be getting harder to come by these days, and with vintage prices, and the comparative condition, I think this ended for a fair price actually. They are always nice to see and even as an incomplete version, a superb addition for a vintage vinyl family.

All right cowboys and cowgirls, grab your boots and lace up those chaps, because this here is a stallion that hasn't been tamed yet. Even with the damage to this guy, seeing one of these in the wild up for grabs is such a treat. And made even more interesting to me because - prior to the final day - I could have easily screencapped a point (and now wish that I would have!) where I was the high bidder on this. It would have been a delight to at least be able to have that frozen moment captured to revisit that time when dreams of a Hawaiian Gary being mine were a reality. Alas. A long contest of drawn out auto-extension bidding into the wee hours of the morning [Japan time] sure dumped a pail of water over me and brought me back to reality, but it was fun to watch all the same.

Bullmark Hawaiian 'export' Garamon, missing tail, ended at 369,000円

I am not sure if any of the heavy vintage collectors here were bidding on this guy, but even with the damage I think he would have been so incredibly amazing to have on a shelf. He does have some paint wear, and need a good but gentle cleaning, but just look at those colours!!! :) A beauty of a toy as any. I'll have to keep on dreaming though. [and I'd hate to think on that VAT premium on top, as this is a Toy's King auction].

    TL;DR - I dream of rainbow Garys.

I'm honestly not familiar with a lot of bootlegs like these so not sure if the final price is something to gawk at. Nevertheless, I was surprised to see how high it went.

I think it's an adorable Gomora. I might even favor this sculpt to the original Bullmark (though that one is a treasure).

There a few different color/paint variations. This one seems to be a little tougher to find, its also in amazing shape. Even so over 60k is a LOT IMO. I agree on the sculpt. I like this better than the OG marusan. has more character. Here is mine which is a slightly different paint

This was a really nice condition Jamila. Superb paint of both those wonderful light blue accents and that silvering; nice clean eye application too. Really not a single thing you could take away from this figure. I'm always carrying a torch of hope that I might someday be able to luck into a beat up version of my favourite sad spaceman which I can afford. This was just a short 3-day auction, but even so, managed to get a lot of attention in the end. Beautiful to see. As stunning as any I could hope to find.

Bullmark Jamila, ended at 93,500円 (with an option, optimistic, BIN of 320,000円)

I don't remember seeing a Yokai pendant before, both of which were sold by the same seller. Initially I had the intention of buying them to put on the Christmas tree but I never imagined that the final price would be so high, those two ornaments would have been more expensive than the whole Christmas tree:lol::lol:
